It's Selection Sunday for the DABWAHA!
First, the reader finalists, those voted in by, well, readers, are:
- YA: Falling Under by Gwen Hayes
- Contemporary: If You Hear Her by Shiloh Walker (Bro Magnet by Lauren Baratz Logsted was a close second)
- Historical: A Lady’s Lesson in Scandal by Meredith Duran
- GLBT: Hot Head by Damon Suede
- Category: A Man of His Word by Sarah Anderson
- Novella: Once Upon a Winter’s Eve by Tessa Dare (edged out Silver Shark by Ilona Andrews by one vote)
- Crossover: Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning
- PNR/UF: Radiant Desire by Inara Scott
And now: It's bracket time! There are instructions on how to fill out your bracket online at the DABWAHA site. Please only fill out one bracket. If your bracket is totally shot to hell after the first round, don't worry. We have a Second Chance bracket with a whole selection of really awesome prizes. ETA: And there is also a store online where you can go shopping for the books you haven't read yet, put together by our intrepid intern, Lauren. The store revenues earned go to funding prizes and maintaining the tournament.
Game on, folks!
I started off trying to be “scientific” and, as usual, ended up using a combination of titles/authors I liked (or thought more popular) and einey, meaney, miney, moe.
Even though the DABWAHA voting hasn’t even actually started, I’ll probably be out after round one and am already anticipating the second chance bracket – LOL.
i chose based on books i read and by which title sounded nicest. lol
I guess I need to get out more. No matter that my book bills look like the national debt of a small country I don’t recognize over half of the titles. Another year of close my eyes and pin the tail on whoever.
Oh lord, am I out of the loop this year. I can already hear my wallet crying over the hemorrhaging it is about to do in the name of stocking the TBR pile.
Yeah, science gave way to chaos theory in my brackets. Anyone else want to be fitted with a big sparkly “L” for their forehead?
I’ll line up for that.
My two favorites compete head-to-head in the first round. Bummer.
For the love of Pete. As usual, I’ve not even heard of half of these, let alone read them. Now I know how Grandma feels when we do our college football bowl brackets.
Hi, I was browsing through all the finalists, and finally decided just to make an amazon listmania! I couldn’t fit everything, so I had to take out the novella category, and skip one book from each group because the listmania limits you to 40 items.

Yes, I voted for “Hot Head” just for the title. How could you not?
