  3. Amandag18 says:

    *swoon*

  4. Lizzie R says:

Oh yes – he definitely gets it and it is totally hot.  That just made my day – fantastic.

  5. Tam B. says:

Well he just got a whole heap of SBTB fans I’m sure.  I forwarded this to my book club ladies and my husband.  He just totally gets it.  Thanks for making my day.

  6. CarrieS says:

    WOW.

  7. This man needs to be used to inspire a romance novel hero, now.

  8. Jules says:

*swoons* i think I need a fainting couch and some smelling salts. How sexy was that?!

  9. garlicknitter says:

Hubba, hubba. I’m in love. I want that man. And he wants me, too; I can tell.

  10. Jezmorrow says:

    Take me now.

  11. Geekgirl says:

    That was unbelieveably hot.

  12. DreadPirateRachel says:

Oh, Mark. All us reading girls want you, too.

Also, I totally read the back of corn flakes boxes. And menus. And signs, and detergent bottles, and receipts, and random bits of paper that I find lying around my apartment, and CD liner notes, and shipping invoices.

  13. Laurie says:

It’s amazing how attractive a person can become just because of words!

  14. cleo says:

Me too.  And random flyers handed out on the street, and discarded papers next to my seat on the el.  I haven’t stooped to digging a book or paper out of the trash yet, but I don’t see it as completely impossible – I mean, if it looked clean and I didn’t have anything to read and no one were looking, I’d probably do it.

  15. DreadPirateRachel says:

For sure. I’m probably one of the few people who actually read the adverts on the inside of the public transit (mostly for Planned Parenthood, as it turns out). And I’m not going to lie; I’ve stooped to stealth reading the newspaper of the commuters opposite me.

  16. moviemavengal says:

Loved this video and went on a video search to see if he had any more poetry videos online (he does), but found this very interesting news report video about him.

Mark was an English teacher who went viral in a video where he wages a verbal battle with a teenaged rapper.  I watched the whole rap battle and it was fascinating.  He now does comedy/poetry shows and education workshops.

    Coolio!

  17. tikaanidog says:

    freakin’ awesome 🙂

@DreadPirateRachel re stealth reading newspapers – I have SO done that, too! LOL! usually on a plane at takeoff and landings when my ereader has to be turned off 😛

  18. Donna says:

ME TOO! I thought I had a disease. And I know what’s in a colonoscopy prep because I was too groggy to grab my book, and then too awake to just, well, sit there…. Well, that’s probably a little TMI. Sorry.
And why isn’t this man in my life? I want him. Bad. Wait, I think I can answer my own question. See above.

  19. DONNA says:

What a coinkydink… I like a man who reads.  A match made in heaven, or a library, or a bookstore…….

    Donna 2

  20. Sofia Harper says:

He just might be the sexiest man alive.

  21. BTW his website is http://markgrist.com/

You know, Thursday my male coworkers revealed to me they like hanging around me because I read a lot and therefore say interesting things. (Course they’re librarians so they’re probably biased.) Then this video shows up.

  22. It helps that his hair is just a little bit messed up. It’s just screaming for a smart bitch like one of us to tousle it, n’est pas?

  23. Anony Miss says:

I may have to wake my husband up to make sure he appreciates me enough.

  24. Floffy1983 says:

when they ask what i read (meaning hight litrerature) i answer anything, i am a compulsive reader

  25. ksattler says:

    that is so wonderful!

  26. Jenyfer says:

Oh my! I love his attitude and his accent! 🙂

  27. I must admit I feel like trying a verse.
I’m sure I’ve written much worse.

As word of Mark Grist’s love of reading girls spreads,
he best look out where he treads.
For not too long from now you’ll see,
reading girls will rip his clothing off as if he was Elvis Presley.
Yes, I can be quite a dork.
Oh look, I found a spork!
I think I shall name is Bjork.
And I’ll mail it to New York.

*runs away and hides before anyone can start throwing rotten fruit*

  28. Theresa Meyers says:

Love that! Of course beyond the fact that it’s brilliant poetry, I love just listening to his accent!
