Update! We have a winner! Thanks to the random number generator, comment #111 is the winner. And that's Kaetrin! Email me at sarahATsmartbitchestrashybooksDOTcom to claim your books, Kaetrin, and congratulations!
You guys have the makings of one hell of an awesome booksigning if we could get all those authors in one room. Thank you to everyone who entered!
Last weekend I was at a booksigning at Turn the Page Books in Boonsboro, MD, along with Mary Kay McComas, Mary Burton, Donna Kauffman, and Nora Roberts/JD Robb. Each author was kind enough to sign a book for me to give away here, so hooray! Signed books from a collection of subgenres!
Up for grabs, and each of these copies is a signed copy – signed by the author of the book, not by me or some random person, unless Nora Roberts was played by a lookalike:
Standard disclaimers apply: I am not being compensated for this giveaway. Your mileage may vary. Winners must be over 18 and wearing warm socks. Void where prohibited. Only to be removed by owner. The FDA has not rated this product for effectiveness against Zombies. Comments are open for 48 hours, and I will indeed ship internationally.
To enter, tell me which author you'd absolutely love to meet and have sign your book(s). You can name more than one – but I'm curious! What author would you love to meet?
Ooh, Susan Napier, esp since I’d have to go to New Zealand, wouldn’t I?
I would love to meet George R. R. Martin. It’d be so interesting to discuss how he came up with all the characters and settings in Game of Thrones. 🙂
Since Jane Austen is, unfortunately, no longer among us I think the author I would most like to meet and get signed books form is Nora Roberts. From everything I have read and from people I know who have met her she is not only a writer who consistently entertains me she is also a genuinely nice person.
I want to give that JD Robb to my mom! But I’d love to meet Meg Cabot. She’s funny and a little crass and seems to be nice and down-to-earth.
JAK, Nora Roberts, and Linda Howard would be my top 3.
Jennifer Crusie for sure! I LOVE her books and her sense of humor just makes me laugh.
I would love to meet Nalini Singh! I’ve enjoyed and been impressed by the creativity in all of her books
I’d love to meet Lindsay Sands! I just discovered her novels, and she has a way of writing that really appeals to me. I love her characters, and I would love a chance to pick her brains over everything.
I’m trying to think of who I’d want to go all fan-girl on and I’m blanking.
Then, I realized I’m not eligible. I’m not wearing warm socks. 😉
Mary Kay Andrews -maybe not traditionally lumped in with romance authors, but I love her books and the characters she creates.
Probably Nora Roberts (her poor hand, I own so many) because she was my first romance novel. Or I would love to meet Karen Marie Monning, actually!!
Joanna Bourne and Jennifer Crusie, I think. And a bunch of other ones. Only problem is that when I have been to a book-signing, I end up trying to say something without squeeing like a fangirl and just sound like an idiot.
I wanna meet everybody but my absolute favorite is Nora Roberts so I would love to win the new J.D. Robb book. Nora Robert was the first romance writer I read way back when so I’ve been a fan of hers for a lot of years. Actually since she published her first book.
Would love to meet Susan Johnson. She writes such hot stories!! Love her! 🙂
Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James, and Loretta Chase
At the moment, I’d love to meet either Courtney Milan or Rachel Aaron. Or both!
And in April I’m hoping not to make a complete fool of myself in front of Scott Snyder at C2E2… But I’m sure I will because American Vampire is just so good.
Courtney Milan, because, damn, her books are amazing. She seems like the sort of person who would be awesome company for an afternoon of tea-drinking and book-talking.
I’d love to meet Nalini Singh – rather than just get a book signed – to learn how her mind works in creating her series. The details she juggles in the Psy-Changeling universe are damned impressive.
Nora…Started the In Death series in September and I’m caught up already. Thinking about starting it over. Everybody needs a little more Roarke in their life!!
I would love to meet Diana Gabaldon and pick her brain for any historical facts she’s picked up that didn’t make it in to her books. Her Outlander series just does it for me on so many levels and I could come up with TONS of questions for her!
I would love to have meg cabot sign my- her books I love her and have for years
Alive or dead?
Alive: Nora Roberts. Because, hell, she’s FREAKING NORA ROBERTS. Except I’d be reduced to gushing, which would just be plain embarrassing. Failing La Nora, I’d go for Meljean Brooks, because I’d love to chat Justice League with her. 🙂
Dead: George Eliot. What a woman! Her conversations would be challenging, and kind of scary. I’d love to hear her opinion of the modern world from the POV of a woman who broke the rules when women had to stick to them. Second option would be Paul of Tarsus – a.k.a. Paul the Apostle, alleged author of all kinds of controversy about women. 🙂
Of the authors you have a signed book of – Nora Roberts / JD Robb. If only to say thank you for all the hours of entertainment (and maybe find out if Roarke is based on anyone).
Of all the authors out there…. At the moment – Debora Geary. I love her books and would love to be able to quiz her about her inspiration.
I would love to meet Mary Balogh and J D Robb. I managed to collect all of Mary’s Books. I am working on all of J D Robb’s.
Jennifer Cruise. She wrote my all time favourite book “Bet Me” and I’d love to thank her for it! I’ve read all of Laurell K Hamilton’s books so it’d be interesting to meet her and find out how much of Anita she bases on herself. Her author’s notes are always intriguingly dark.
I have to say Illona and Gordon Andrews (aka “Illona Andrews”) because they seem like SUCH awesome people from their blog. And maybe Patricia Briggs – who is doing a book signing near me in a week – but I can’t go *crying* because I have to teach the next morning and it’s too far to drive back afterwards.
Susanna Kearsley/Emma Cole, Robin McKinley, S. Thomas Russell, Naomi Novik, and many others. How is one to pick. And, while I am wearing warm socks, the building’s heat is turned up so high, barefoot and a tshirt are next.
Jacqueline Carey – I wrote to her once for writing advice and she wrote back the nicest email. Aside from the fact I love her books, I’d love to meet her in person to thank her for taking the time to write to me.
Sherry Thomas. But it’s probably best that I don’t since I’d surely act like a total fangirl doofus.
(I once met Bernard Cornwell—for all of 2 seconds at a signing—and I actually blushed and stammered. GAK!)
I’d love Annes signature as well. The Black Jewels novels are among my favorite books ever.
I have books signed by Anne Rice, but would like to meet Jim Butcher, Jacqueline Carey and Christopher Moore. I’d need a big rolling suitcase to fit all their books.
Actually Nora Roberts/JD Robb would be pretty awesome. I have met Diana Gabaldon and she signed my copy of An Echo in the Bone so that was something special. Otherwise, Patricia Briggs or Ilona Andrews (although that’s a partnership so I guess I’d need 2 signatures for that!) 😀
Jim Butcher. He’s hilarious.
Hmmm… Jennifer Crusie! (off the top of my head, with no time to think—since thinking would just lead to WAY too many potential choices and complete indecision…)
Nora Roberts! I love her dialogue. Plus I’m fascinated by how she can churn out book after book after wonderful book!
Nora Roberts, Gena Showalter, Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs,
Jim Butcher….. and on and on!
I’d love to experience a GNO with Victoria Dahl. I’d also like to meet Elizabeth Peters aka Barbara Mertz as I love the Amelia Peabody series. Perhaps also J.K. Rowling for bragging rights.
Oh yeah, forgot J.K. Haven’t really read much Nora, but her alter ego J.D. rocks. I’d like to meet the elusive, but very hilarious Shelly Laurenston. Can’t get enough of her shifters.
I would love to meet Nora Roberts/JD Robb. I think she is so amazing, and I was going to be there last weekend, but I ended up having relatives in town visiting. Grr!!
Julia Quinn – her books have a sense of humor and sweetness that gets me every single time.
Diana Gabaldon-I adore her writing and she seems like she would be a no-nonsense sort of lady.
