Signed Books: A Giveaway of Signatures!

Update! We have a winner! Thanks to the random number generator, comment #111 is the winner. And that's Kaetrin! Email me at sarahATsmartbitchestrashybooksDOTcom to claim your books, Kaetrin, and congratulations!

You guys have the makings of one hell of an awesome booksigning if we could get all those authors in one room. Thank you to everyone who entered!

Last weekend I was at a booksigning at Turn the Page Books in Boonsboro, MD, along with Mary Kay McComas, Mary Burton, Donna Kauffman, and Nora Roberts/JD Robb. Each author was kind enough to sign a book for me to give away here, so hooray! Signed books from a collection of subgenres!

Up for grabs, and each of these copies is a signed copy – signed by the author of the book, not by me or some random person, unless Nora Roberts was played by a lookalike:

  1. Rebe says:

Definitely Jennifer Crusie – she’s hilarious. I’d also like to meet Ilona Andrews (both of them) and Patricia Briggs.

  2. megsan says:

Jane Austen, , Jasper Fforde, Courtney Milan, Philip Pullman and Sherry Thomas

  3. Alice says:

I would love to meet Nora Roberts/JD Robb.  Besides being a great writer, she seems so down to earth and real and I admire her integrity to her profession.  I have read everything she has written, in both genres, and doing re-reads now, as I wait for her new ones to come out.  (It’s so bad that I feel guity when I read another author, so shhhh, please don’t tell her).  Lol

  4. Tarja says:

I would love to meet Lisa Kleypas or Ilona Andrews. Not including Lois McMaster Bujold, since I already know I’m going to meet her next Summer when she’s coming to Finland.

  5. Silver James says:

Definitely JD/Nora! I’ve been very fortunate to meet and visit with every other Fav Author(tm), including one very smart bitch named Sarah! 😉 Who is delightful in person. Just sayin’.

  6. Karenmc says:

Socks? Check. Over eighteen? I beat that drum decades ago.

Judith Ivory, which ain’t happenin’, so the next best thing would be Loretta Chase.

  7. Barb in Maryland says:

Having met Nora (who is very cool, sharp and funny) and Laura Kinsale (fangirl squee!),I’d have to say that I’d love to meet Sherry Thomas and Meredith Duran.

  8. Katherinelynn_04 says:

So hard! Sarah Dessen would probably be first, because I hear she’s SUPER nice in person (like, she had an ICE CREAM TRUCK with FREE ice cream past year at a book signing!). After that it would be Meg Cabot, Jim Butcher, and Kim Harrison.

  9. riwally says:

I’d probably make a blithering fool of myself, but I’d love to meet Jeaniene Frost and tell her how much I love her books. I can’t wait for her new one…hurry…hurry.  Also, Grace Burrowes is on my top ten list of faves.

  10. Jessica_HookEm says:

For the record, I am wearing warm socks.  Graduate school housing is freezing in the winter, even in Texas!

I would love to meet Jane Austen, if we can pick someone who is dead, or Meg Cabot or Jill Shalvis.  Meg Cabot introduced me to romance through her teen Avon romances and Jane Austen gave the world the genre of romance.  Jill Shalvis makes me laugh so I think that she would be fun to hang out with in real life.  Oh and Donna Kauffman too!  I’ve been following her blog for years and she’s witty and so nice to all of us readers plus her books are entertaining and none of her heroines are TSTL.

  11. Hollyg238 says:

Nora Roberts – Although an avid romance reader for 15 years- I didn’t start reading any of her novels until 2009 until I started reading SBTB religiously and read a review of one of the In Death Series and then read some other books out of curiousity – now I own the entire “In Death ” series and have read at least 40 of her other books.  So Thank you Nora for the entertainment and thank you SBTB for the wonderful recommendation of Nora and so many other writers and genres that I’ve given the chance to over the last three years.

  12. Canadacole says:

La Nora! Her books have gotten me through some tough times and her characters are some of my best (imaginary) friends.

  13. RJ says:

Julia Quinn:her books always make me laugh.  Mercedes Lackey: her Valdemar books have been on my favourites shelf for such a long time.  Tamora Pierce: my first favourite authour.

  14. MaddBookish says:

There are several I’d love to meet who’s books I just love, but I think at the very top of my list would be Patricia Briggs. I love all of her series. The Mercy Thompson series has been my favorite, but her new Alpha and Omega is looking to surpass it on my favorites list.

  15. Patrice says:

Hmmm I’d like to meet Nora Roberts/JD Robb and have the time to chat about her amazing book list as well as her bookstore and the bed and breakfast and movies made from her books and being an entrepeneur and whatever. But I’m sure that’s a common wish!

  16. CrystalGB says:

Keri Arthur.  I love her books.

  17. Kate4queen says:

Dorothy Dunnett, but unfortunately she is dead. 🙁
Nora Roberts because she kicks ass and Susan Elizabeth Philips because I suspect she would give awesome writing advice. 🙂

  18. Emily says:

Elizabeth Peters! But Lauren Willig seems to be following in her footsteps, so her too.

  19. patricia Johnson says:

I guess the first would be Nora Roberts, just cuz she writes so many different kinds of books, and they are all so good.  But i have “met” so many through their blogs that I would love to meet.  Roxanne St. Clair stands out because she is so funny.  Shannon Stacey (Love her books about families).  And Carly Phillips (her books are so engaging).  and last, but not least, Christy Reece (her action books are fantastic).  🙂

  20. Samantha says:

Nora, because I want to know what kind of deal with the devil she made to be so productive and so addictive!

  21. Ann says:

Linda Howard.  I just love her Blair Mallory duet of books.  So much so I would love to tell her I reread them twice a year!

  22. Sybylla says:

Diane Duane.  I’d love to geek out with her over DeForest Kelley.  🙂

  23. Amanda Blair says:

Meg Cabot, because she got me into reading romance after she started mentioning it on her blog when I was a young, impressionable teenager.

  24. Erica DeFigueroa says:

I would love to meet Jean Plaidy aka Eleanor Hibbert, and talk with her about historical fiction. But as far as an author that is still living, it would have to be Colleen McCullough.

  25. Reneesance says:

Nora of course,  and a plethora of others, including in no particular order:  Gail Carriger, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Patrick Rothfuss, Nalini Singh, Meljean Brook, and Jacqueline Carey.

  26. Donna says:

Gail Carriger, and it must include a cuppa and biscuits.

  27. Bleulucy says:

I would love meeting Sherry Thomas, Meljean Brook, Meredith Duran, Judith Ivory…. Authors are my rock stars.

  28. mia says:

Snooki!  J/K 🙂 I would love to meet Jen Lancaster, Jennifer Crusie…and Bob because the chemistry on their shared blog was amazing.  Also, Judith McNaught because hopefully that would mean she’d finally released Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.

  29. TheDuchess says:

Meeting J K Rowling would be… surreal. Her books have been such an integral part of my life.

  30. Winnie says:

We’re reaching the end of summer so it’s still too warm for socks here but when winter comes around I wouldn’t be able to get by without my knee-high, striped, multicoloured toe socks. 😀

Too many authors I’d love to meet so it’s been quite hard to narrow it down to the following: Paula Danziger (for introducing me to teen romance); Roald Dahl, Anthony Horowitz and Paul Jennings (for their extraordinary imaginations); and the authors of quite a few a my all-time favourite romances, Jane Austen and Julia Quinn.

  31. Caschoe says:

I’d want to meet Julia Quinn. She just seems to have a lot of fun.

  32. elianara says:

Patricia Briggs. I love her fantasy books, and the Mercy Thompson series isn’t bad either.

And Nora Roberts/JD Robb of course. I love the Eve Dallas books.

  33. Kim in Hawaii says:

Wearing warm socks is practically illegal in Hawaii – the official footware is slippahs!

I’d love to have a few minutes to chat with Victoria Alexander, Cathy Maxwell, and Sally MacKenzie as they signed books!

  34. Christine says:

Yes, absolutely! I would so love to meet Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels/Barbara Mertz in person. She’s been such an idol of mine for so long; I just want to sit and drink tea and discuss Egypt with her 😉

  35. Ozaira Mahin says:

Sophie Kinsella,Marian Keyes,Helen Fielding and Louise Rennison.I would love to meet them in person.

  36. I would have to say….  Monica McCarty or Lisa Kleypas.  Both are great.

  37. Brendamargriet says:

So many authors, so little time.  Jennifer Crusie (who I only recently discovered and absolutely love, now) because I think I’d be able to talk with her.  I’d say Nora Roberts but would probably be a babbling fool, and I do that enough…

  38. Nadia says:

Nora Roberts, she’s been part of my reading life for, what, about thirty years now, would be nice to meet her.

  39. Andrea2 says:

Do I have to narrow it down to one author?  I’d love to meet Judith Duncan to tell her how much I’ve enjoyed her books over the years.  I have all of her books and two or three copies of each so I have a replacement when the first copy falls apart!

  40. Rachel R. says:

I would have loved to have met Octavia Butler. She’s my absolute favorite author ever.
