Whatever you're reading this weekend, I hope you're enjoying it!
I’m reading “Dumbing Down,” and I am enjoying it.
Who’s the author of Dumbing Down?
I wish I could say I’m enjoying what I’m reading this weekend… It’s a book to review, one of the only reasons I’m still trying to stumble my way though it. 4 days and I’m still not done.
What’s the book, you ask? “Assassins in Love”.
I have a problem with both the hero and the heroine, as well as the writing and the story’s pacing. Overall, I think the highest rating I will give this one when I write my review is 2 stars.
I can only hope that the next book I pick up is better!
Enjoy,

I am reading “Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle” by Chris Hedges. I admire the research, scholarship and writing but I’m not sure I’m enjoying it. Kind of like veggies – not the most fun but good for you in the long run.
I’m reading Paolo Bacigalupi’s The Windup Girl (which won the Hugo and Nebula Awards a few years ago). It’s taken me a little while to warm up to it—I wonder if I could have gotten into it much quicker if I’d read the two short stories that came before this novel. The world-building is interesting, but it took me a while to take to it…..
I thought the same thing! And I read “Lord of Scoundels” as it seems to be a rite of passage.
Because I’m unfamiliar with this and couldn’t find the answer on my own, could someone tell me please what is SBTB/DA? I don’t think I’m the target audience based upon my purchase of a recommendation here yesterday. Wish I didn’t regret it.
Terri,
SBTB = Smart Bitches, Trashy Books (this website)
DA = Dear Author (dearauthor.com)
What book did you purchase, and what don’t you like about it? 🙂
