Last Minute Gift Guide

It's the latest of the last-minutes for gift shopping online, but I think the holidays snuck up on a lot of people this year!

First, this would not arrive by the holidays, but printing a little pic and putting it in a card with the promise of a FULL SIZE VERSION of AWESOME is forthcoming wouldn't be so horrible.

Not when the FULL SIZE VERSION of the Limited Edition Social Media Propaganda Poster is this awesome.

To say nothing of the Twitter Fail Whale one, which I adore in so many ways. You know, because I love the Twittah.

From Heather, who loves this nightshirt: She Who Reads is Booked Every Night.

This nightshirt is a lovely shade of blue and comes in a cute little bag
with the same design printed on it. It's perfect for the reading lady and
can comfortably fit up to approximately a size 18/20, maybe more.

From Silver James: Pasties for a good cause from Etsy.

Those are pasties I can believe in. Particularly the Hanukkah ones. Whee!

And from Laura in PA: Novel Creations, the purses that are made out of books. Try not to buy them all.

Yet I hear you saying: “But what's this Etsy stuff, Sarah? It's not going to arrive by Christmas.” That's true. Etsy is not always the fastest, but you know, sometimes you find a gift for someone after the holidays, or there's a birthday, or you bookmark something for next year.

But what about stuff FOR RIGHT NOW OMG THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US LIKE ZOMBIES?

No problem.

First, If you are an Amazon Prime member, you have free two-day shipping, and one-day for $3.99. And if you're not, you can sign up for a free trial and take advantage of it. Among the prime items under $20 that might make marvelous gifts:

Book Cover

Heat this neck and shoulder wrap in the microwave (or the freezer) and it (you'll never guess) wraps around your neck and shoulders with the heat and the cold and the awesomeness.

I have a smaller version without the scalloped back part, and it's wonderful when I'm cold and achy, which, in the winter, is pretty much every other night. That scalloped part would be amazing.

Book Cover

If you buy this sherpa throw for someone, and they have cats, it'll end up being a gift for their cats (not that I would know this from my own cats, or anything), but if the cats condescend to share (hahaha) this is one cozy wrap for occupying the couch and reading. And it's under $30.

I'm including this because it's just plain crazy looking: heated slippers in Cow or Leopard print. The benefit of the leopard print: they LOOK AT YOU. HELLO from your FEET as they are WARMED. Nothing says “happy holidays!” like cross-eyed leopards on your feet, right?

Heh.

So what's your favorite last-minute gift? Are you venturing out into the holiday madness? What's your favorite gift that you're giving this year?

My Google Reader is acting unpleasantly when it comes to SBTB these days – hmpfh!

Anyhow, my favorite gift this year is the Lego Hogwarts Castle my husband and I are giving to our 9-yr-old, Harry-Potter-obsessed daughter. I fully expect to spend hours of fun helping her assemble it because that HP Obsession might be genetic. She’s also getting an iPod Touch from the grandparents, so maybe I’ll be assembling Hogwarts by myself. Either way is fine by me!

THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US LIKE ZOMBIES!!! I’m soooo stealing…err, sharing that! The pasties are awesome.

  3. Carin says:

I made a snuggly blanket for my daughter that she is going to flip over – and there are matching flannel pj pants.  I can’t wait to see her open it!

  4. Donna says:

Out of ideas, out of time, out of patience w/the S-I-L who returns pretty much anything that isn’t on the list for the kids. When they were little I’d help them open all the blister packs & spread out the pieces to defeat her, but now that they’re older & one of them has started sharing the attitude, ARGHHHHHHHH! How many articles of clothing with Aeropostale splattered all over them does a kid need? OMG!
I am ranting to avoid leaving the office and go finish shopping.
On the other hand, I got the ninja stealth plumber fluffy new hypo-allergenic pillows for the comfy night sleep he deserves.

While it’s boring, my favorite gift to give is the retail store gift card.  The recipient can use them for whatever they want: clothes, dvds, food, condoms, plates, books (including romance novels), toys, games, music, electronics, whatever.

And for men (a.k.a. my genre), the Holiday issue of PLAYBOY—with Lindsay Lohan almost naked and channeling Marilyn Monroe—is, to quote the French Knights, verra nice!

  6. MissB2U says:

Last minute gifts this year are the cookbooks that feature recipes made with all Trader Joe items.  (They are a U.S. grocery store chain).  Also, my mother-in-law’s toffee known affectionately in our house as Christmas Crack because it’s addictive and will rot your teeth.  And lovely handmade soaps sold by a guy downtown on the corner.  The lavender/goat milk one is the best.  Time to get crackin’!

  7. Zara K says:

Zappos has saved me, again, this year; most of my family live two states away, and I can never get to the stores early enough to shop, and then send in time. My husband and I hit the mall, end to end, in one afternoon and got everything else. And I was the one who had a temper tantrum in Target! Not him!

  8. I’ve hit The Literary Gift Company again in desperation, for eldest daughter who adores all things literary but is an absolute pain to buy for.  The Hare choker is going to be a winner…

  9. Kate Pearce says:

I’m giving my husband his own Hawaii in a box, complete with blow up palm tree drink cooler, Hawaiian sea view back drop, wall stickers of Hula dancers, tikki lamps and Hawaiian palm leaf toilet paper. I think he’ll love it 🙂

  10. ellen says:

I went to the Red Cross website and made a donation in the name of all my husband’s family. I had no clue what to get them since I see them once a year.

  11. Aaron Wood says:

Thanks for including my posters in your gift ideas! 😀
