Books On Sale

eBook deals

I'd been bemoaning the lack of ebook deals out there amid the holiday sales – apparently grousing is effective!

Julia Quinn's The Secret Diary of Miss Miranda Cheever is $1.99 [ Amazon | BN ]

Karen Marie Moning's Darkfever is $1.99 * [ Amazon | BN ] (BN has not reduced the price yet but will soon, I am betting.)

A note of warning about the Darkfever series. A reader wrote in recently about how finishing the series left her bereft – and started a very lively discussion of what happens after Book Rebound syndrome kicks in. Be ye warned: there be crack in the Darkfever series, it seems.

Victoria Alexander's A Visit From Sir Nicholas is .99 [ Amazon | Kobo | BN ].

Two Karen Hawkins books — To Catch a Highlander [ Amazon | Kobo | BN ] and To Scotland with LoveAmazon | Kobo | BN ]  — are both $2.99.

ETA: Lilith Saintcrow's The Hedgewitch Queen is $2.99 for December. [ Amazon | Kobo | BN ]

Via Jane on Twitter:

Lisa Kleypas' Smooth Talking Stranger is $2.99 [ Amazon ].

Jennifer Lynn Barnes' Raised by Wolves, a Sizzling Book Club Selection, is $2.99 (or $3.27 at BN) [ Amazon | BN ]

One more! You can get 20% off your Kobo eligible ebook purchases until 31 Dec with code June20off.

Any other ebook deals that you've found? Spread the word and the good reading, please!

Jo Goodman’s Marry Me is free on Amazon, and probably elsewhere as well.

To Scotland with Love by Karen Hawkins was a great book. I downloaded and read it a few days ago. The heroine sometimes verges on TSTL but never quite goes all the way (HA!) and her dialogue with the hero is very witty. The hero (and his brothers) struggle with an interesting (minor) paranormal problem that sets the novel apart from others of the genre. I recommend it but be warned, it’s not very long and will likely leave you wanting more.

On the Darkfever warning:  I made it through book three (started reading the series because of the above-mentioned discussion) and was so incredibly emotionally torn up, angry, and heartbroken with the end of the third book that I couldn’t sleep all that night, couldn’t stop thinking about how upset I was for days, and haven’t returned for book four for possible series redemption.  Just FYI to those who really emotionally invest themselves in the characters of the books they are reading.

  20. erin says:

@MissMariah, I too used this .99 e-book deal to check out the DarkFever series based on the early hero-withdrawal post and comments and four days later after too many late nights and too little sleep, finished reading the whole series. After book 3 I wasn’t sure I liked where things were going either, and had to buy books 4 & 5 simultaneously to ensure I could, if things got really bad, just skip ahead to the end and release myself from the uncertainty of not knowing how it was all going to end.  I didn’t end up having to do this, although I did stay up far too late too many nights in a row and now my family is paying for it via my sleep deprived and Jericho Barons deprived bad temper. It was worth it, to push through to the end. KMM does a great job with this series.

  21. MissMariah says:

@erin – Hmmm… Well, I do have books 4 and 5 lined up, but like I said above, I’ve been avoiding them because of the trauma.  I really WANT to move ahead with it, but I’ve been scared to do so.  It sounds like, though, with your similar emotional response to mine at the end of Book 3, it is still worth it in the end.  OK then… I’ll give it a try and dive in to Book 4, per your recommendation.  I mean, so many people CAN’T be wrong about the fabulousness of a series, right?  Right.  If I can find you again, I’ll let you know how things go for me through Books 4 and 5.  Thanks for the push!
