There is Awesomeness at Anderson’s

Next week I am journeying to Illinois to do a book event at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville and I am really excited about it. That makes three romance-friendly independent bookshops in a row – Posman’s tomorrow, then Anderson’s next week, then WORD Brooklyn on November 4. WHEE!

BUT CHECK THIS OUT. Reader Melanie forwarded me the display Anderson’s has out. In EIKAL, there is a shopping list in the back of all the books I excerpt in the text, as well as a list of the top 9 heroes as determined by you lovely folks who are brilliant and awesome. The folks at Anderson’s built a table display of all the books I excerpt as WELL as all the books in which the top heroes appear. Have a look:

Look at all the Romance!

You know you want to go shopping now, right? I mean, I do. I’m getting my car keys right now.

Heroes, heroes, all lined up and waiting.

Wow. Who ever came up with that is making me so happy, especially at the thought that there’s a table full of new and classic romances ready to be purchased. WOO! Romance buffet ahoy!

If you’re near Posman’s, Anderson’s, or WORD, I hope you’ll stop by one of the signings and introduce yourself to me. I’m so looking forward to these book stops I can’t even tell you.

This is wonderful news for those of us in Naperville! Anderson’s is a great independent bookstore.

Sarah, if you need a chocolate fix while in town, there is a really wonderful chocolate cafe about two blocks east and 1/2 a block north of Anderson’s, on Washington street.

I am hoping I can make it to the signing!

    THERE IS CHOCOLATE?!

I’m so moving there. Oh my gosh.

I am thrilled to see the effort Anderson’s has put forth. After gushing all over them at your initial mention of a signing, I was afraid that, somehow, things would not go so swimmingly. But I should have had more faith and am excited for you and Naperville.

  4. Pamala says:

I’m excited for you AND Anderson’s, Sarah.  That display looks awesome and I hope I get to see it in person next week!

  5. I was the one who took the pictures when I stopped by to pick up my book signing ticket.  I was just so excited at the beautiful display Anderson’s made for Sarah’s signing next week.  How cool is it to have EIKAL surrounded by Lord of Scoundrels, Bet Me, Outlander, Pride and Prejudice, etc.?  What a fantastic idea they had.

I also like that they sent out an email inviting us to a night of “Romance Undressed”.  Whoo Hoo!  And chocolate!

Can’t wait to meet Sarah and all of you next Wed. night.

How cool!  I was a big fan of Anderson’s when I lived in Chicago and am a big fan of Posman’s now that I’m back in midtown.  Enjoy them both!

  7. Katie D. says:

I’m really sad I won’t be able to come in for the Anderson’s signing now!

  8. Aloha, Sarah!  Now that you are growing famous, are you going to become quirky?  Wear one glove to a book signing?  Drop your last name?  Even better, assume a symbol for your name?

  9. Danielle D (Dani) says:

Good luck at your booksigning, sorry I can’t make it.  Make sure you go to Lou Malnati’s next door to Anderson for some um um good pizza.

  10. Wow wish I still lived near by. Your display looks amazing.

  11. Patrice says:

Oh my gosh, how much do we love independant booksellers? “…ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no river wide enough, ain’t no valley low enough.,..,” hmmm. 😀 I think I must go check out my local bookstore. They recently had to move to a smaller location because the rent at their longtime mall location was too high. It makes me sad to think business had fallen off, but I’m so glad they still found a location that works for them. 🙂

  12. James Lynch says:

That is a truly terrific display: creative, perfectly suited to the occasion, and very likely to sell a lot of the books on display.

I wonder if big chain bookstores (I’m a-lookin’ at you, Borders) could have increased their sales if they hired people who put this kind of thought and effort into their stores.

  13. Lisa A says:

What a win-win-win situation.  Great support for the author, great service for the reader, and I’m sure good sales for the bookstore.

Wish I had a bookstore like this near me!  (Wish I had ANY bookstore near me!  The last round of Borders closures means I have to drive 50 miles for any bookstore fix.)

Hi! I’m a new convert to the Romance genre and I’m looking for some great titles. Would you care to share the booklist or recommend some great titles from it? I have your other book, Beyond Heaving Bosoms, but I think your newest might not be available here in manila for quite some time. Please, help me fall in love with romance more!

  15. Mama Nice says:

As soon as I heard from Sourcebooks about you doing this signing I was on the phone with Andersons! They put together great signings – I went to one for Diana Gabaldon when Echo was released – Scottish dancers and a bagpiper at that one!

Can’t wait for all the fun next week – bagpipers not required.

MamaNice (and another Melonie – this one with an “o”)

  16. Aloha, Sarah!  Now that you are uber famous, will you adopt a quirky manner?  Wear one glove to a book signing?  Refer to yourself in the 3rd person?  Change your name to a symbol?

  17. Lisa A says:

    somelovelybacon:

If you click on the photos above to see enlarged versions you can actually read two of the lists.  Happy reading!

  18. SB Sarah says:

Even better, assume a symbol for your name?

    YES. THIS: 0_o

    Heh.

  19. somelovelybacon says:

Oh! Thank you Ms. Lisa A! I’m so excited to read more romance… I got hooked when a friend of mine gave me Remembrance by Jude Deveraux for my birthday. it was amazing! I laughed, I cheered the heroine on, and I cried a lot more. Hopefully the books on the list will do the same for me.

On to the bookstore for some book hoarding! 🙂
