Here’s an opening blog entry that I can raise a glass to: Romance novels rock. Romance readers rock. Romance writers rock.” HELL YES JOYCE LAMB!
I am so excited about the new USA Today Books blog about romance novels, Happy Ever After, especially since it not only features authors like Joyce Lamb and Michelle Monkou and Kathy Altman, but Mandi from SmexyBooks is on the team as well! That’s so awesome!
Seriously, I think it is so excellent that USA Today, which already boasts some romance-friendly writers in their crew, has a romance blog. I love it. Congrats, y’all. I crack open champagne in your honor.
Also, have I neglected to share this link? I keep looking at it so I presume you have too – but I should spread the word anyway, because Holy Gift Idea.
Men of the Stacks – hot librarians raising money for the It Gets Better Project.
As Jelly said, “Mr. January, Oh My God.”
I am totally going to read more. No question.
Brings new meaning to “stacked.”
I love how you folks always come up with such inspiring posts! 😉
Capcha: into63—Yes, I am really into this…
Book club gift. Totally.
Thanks for the mention! Today marks the day we sold our 500th copy and, so far, we’ve raised over $7,300. Thanks, Sarah
Oh, my—-an entire calendar of stastistical improbabilities!
I think Mr. September is my favorite, closely followed by Mr. May. Look at that . . . I have a type! XD
I’ll be forwarding this to everyone I know—- Thanks, Sarah!
OH GOD, MR JANUARY.
I kind of didn’t think men like that existed in real life.
::swoon::
I wish the librarians at my library looked like this…sigh.
Wonderful idea, great cause, hot guys! Who could ask for anything more? I’ve ordered mine and can’t wait for 2012.
I have mixed feelings about this because I have a son in library school. And I could see him doing this, but fully clothed. I hope.
But I want one of these, though my husband might not appreciate it as much. I’m mentioning this to my book club, in the interest of promoting charity. Yeah, charity.
Yep, it just got better. That calendar is, like, MAGIC.
“We are educators, programmers, project managers, entrepreneurs, program coordinators, contractors, consultants, and speakers. We are academics. We are authors, diversity officers, historians, administrators, deans, professors, and researchers. We are creatives. We are musicians, bakers, painters, and storytellers. We are athletes, yogis, gym-rats, runners, and hikers. We are passionate. We are dog-lovers, radicals, conservatives, Christians, and Buddhists. We are in our twenties. We are in our forties. We are in relationships. We are perpetual bachelors. We are privileged beings who try to use their advantages to better the lives of others.”
Left out the obvious: “We are ridiculously hot”. There, fixed it for you.
I thought, “Oh cool! I will get that calendar, and put it up at work!” Then I saw Mr. January and thought, “Maybe not at work.” Although I could probably auction it off and send the money to the It Gets Better Project…
I just ordered three copies: one for me, one for my librarian aunt, and one for a to-be-chosen friend. Then I pimped it on FB because my girls and gays can totally get behind this. *ahem* The cause, that is. 😉
Thanks for sharing, Sarah!
will39: I predict 39 friends will buy this.
Awesome. Thank you! We have a FB page you can share. We update it daily with news, media mentions and upcoming events: http://www.facebook.com/Men.of.the.Stacks
Thanks for your support Lisa!
thankg for the give away
One of my best memories is a (male) library grad student who is now a librarian at a midwestern university. Behind that buttoned-down, orderly exterior, there was a whole realm of knowledge and passion. Oh, yes, men librarians. And a certain library table, after the doors were locked.
I wrote to Happy Ever After and asked if they have an RSS feed, which they do! It isn’t to be found anywhere on the site yet (they’re working on it), and I figured it would be a kindness to share.

SO proud . . . one of the guys works in the same library system and went to the same library program I did. Not one of the naked ones, though. That would make system-wide meetings verra verra distracting. He’s a great guy, been recognized nationally for library work, and married. Crap.
Captcha word: give66 I would give $66,000 for Mr. January to come catalogue my Deweys. And to bring Messrs June, November and December with him. Also Messrs February and August, because they’re so clearly up for a laugh, and laughing smart guys are sexy. Oh, what the heck, bring ‘em all.
Damn you Maureen for that “catalogue my Deweys” metaphor….
Vicki:
Which midwestern university??? More details, please. A novella or even some flash fic would be appreciated. Me and my ex made use of a library study carrel in a dark corner of the fifth floor stacks. This was before the era of security cameras, thank god.
I don’t think any of the (very few) guys in my library grad program would be interested in posing, but one of the professors – mmmm, baby.
