Here on the east coast of the US, we had an earthquake that scared the pants off people and maybe broke some tchotskes, but otherwise, we’re all good. To celebrate, let’s dance:
Really, I just wanted to boogie, because this is my favorite Belafonte song, and it seemed appropriate for today. There’s a lot of sad and bad news around us, but there is also room to shake it – you know, in a good way. Stay safe!
That is awesome, and just what I need after our afternoon of shock and awe here in downtown DC.
Oh man, I haven’t seen this movie in like decades. Fabulous.
There’s nothing quite like bouncing up and down on the 72nd floor. I hope everyone closer to the epicenter is doing fine!
ITA! What’s not to like!
Here in PA we barely felt a thing…my room mate slept right through it.
In my 12th grade Dance P.E., my friend and I did a choreographed routine to this song for our final project. Everyone else was dancing to C + C Music Factory and Black Box.
I hope everyone back east stays safe!
love that song. i was tempted to post it earlier after the quake. i still can’t believe we felt it here in NYC…not that i felt it—i was standing, and apparently, people standing and moving around couldn’t feel it. my poor dog tried to dig her way through the carpet to figure out what was going on, and my grandmother thought that she was having a stroke.
I’d forgotten about this! Thanks for posting it, and may the everyone on the east coast have a calm and peaceful Wednesday.
We felt far up in Ontario too… I like to shake, but I would rather do it on the dance floor too!!!
Earthquake & a hurricane w/in one week; who did y’all piss off?
We had an earthquake here in the Chicago area last year. Living in tornado alley, it’s the last thing you’d expect.
Thanks for this Sarah – love this song. We felt the shaking west of Toronto, Ontario as well.
