Premiere! Tessa Dare’s video for Maya Banks

As part of Operation Auction, Tessa Dare donated a book trailer video featuring her crafty handiwork and all the toys that weren’t nailed down in her childrens’ bedrooms. Maya Banks bid early and bid often, and was the winner – and the trailer, it is DONE. And it is HILARIOUS.

Link? What, of course! LINK!

Operation Auction was a community organized and sponsored benefit for longtime romance fan and blogger Fatin, whose husband was killed this past March. Operation Auction was one of many examples of the romance community’s strength and of its heart. High fives to Banks and to Dare on bringing something beneficial and hilarious out of a senseless tragedy.

Ramadan Mubarak to Fatin and her family.

Fabulous video, Tessa! I love you books….so how about doing one of your books in Barbimation instead of claymation??

  2. Mikie M says:

The ending was hilarious!! My gosh. Absolutely genius! :))

  3. Mary M. says:

The stiff Highland breeze at the end was inspired!  Those kids sure do play with a lot of plaid!  Great job Tessa and Maya!

  4. Honey says:

Best book video ever! Still smiling.

Don’t know what the ancient Scots wore under their kilts, but in 1988, one wore briefs…

  5. Wonderful!  Thanks, Tessa, for making me laugh out loud at the awesome castle in Scotland, complete with ponies.  And kudos to Romancelandia for pulling together to help one of their own.  This is an amazing community of caring people.

  6. Snarky*Bitch says:

@Tessa – That was brilliant!  I am so glad I put my coffee down before I hit ‘play’!  😀

@Joanne – As far a redheads in Kenner dolls, Kenner made an awesome doll named Darci in the late 70’s that OMG should have blown Barbie away.  I started collecting them and they are just fantastic.  They are in blonde, brunette and the ever fabulous redhead.  There is also an African American model named Dana.(Tessa, they are hotter than Barbie by far)

I can’t wait to read these!  My TBR pile is so growing!

You know, if I ever break into the music business big time, I’m having Tessa do the ads for my albums. Sure, it’s not the same as books, but it would be fun to see what toys she’d pick to represent the songs on the album.

  8. Molly Montgomery says:

    The humidifier was inspired.

Scotland is the only place I’ve visited where it can rain uphill (in both directions.)

  9. I love the trailer, it is genius, but arghghgh, the names are dodgy. Ewan is fine, although it is more likely to have been spelled Euan, but Alaric is an Old German name and Caelen is an Irish name, not Scottish.

I know it is petty and sucky, but when heroes have dodgy names, I won’t even download the sample chapter of the book…

  10. Claudia says:

Tessa this is the best book trailer I’ve ever seen, ROFL Thanks!!!

  11. Kimber says:

    Simply brilliant.

  12. Donna says:

    Gargh… snerf… snerf… I..ah… I … gasp… snerf… BWAHAHAHAAAAAAA!! Snort…

BTW my orginal Barbie from 19—-(let’s not go there) is a red head, just like my mom… hey, wait aminute… do you think that’s why she picked.. Nah.

  13. Vicki says:

Excellent video. I was inspired to google trews and there are some interesting pictures of men in tight tartan, um, well, trews.  And am also being inspired to check out the books.

  14. Tessa Dare says:

Thanks so much, everyone—and special thanks to Sarah for hosting the premiere!

wow, I’m so glad that green Velux blanket = believable Highlands landscape!

To whoever said she learned a modem Highlander wore briefs under his kilt, funny story—I had to use a butt double for the final shot, because the thee hero action figures were all wearing molded plastic briefs. 😀

  15. cleo says:

@ Tessa – I love this video.  And now that I know about the “butt double” I’m even more impressed by your attention to um, details.

I really want Mattel to bring out a “Recovering A-hole Ken” – I think it’d be a bigger seller than earring magic Ken.

  16. Stephanie says:

Tessa you are a GODDESS!!!  Fantastic job!

  17. Heidi says:

You had me at the pink little pony…

    yeah, I’ve passed43, so what?

  18. Karin says:

The humidifier was genius! I just went and made a donation to Fatin, and I wish her a Ramadan Kareem.

  19. JamiSings says:

@Brussel Sprout – Well, maybe their mom’s or grandmas were German and Irish and they’re the ones who named them. I mean, with arranged marriages and even kidnapping brides, it could have happened.

  20. Teia Collier says:

    Deliciously funny!
