  1. I’ve read two Goodmans, NEVER LOVE A LAWMAN and MARRY ME, but I can’t decide which one I like more. Both are awesome!

  2. “As good as”? I’d call that just plain “with bonus materials”! This is hysterical!

  3. roobarb says:

I’ve never read any Jo Goodman, this one with that added something would be a fun way to start

  4. Sarah A-B says:

Never read a Western but if they’re all like this then sign me up!  😉

  5. Karin says:

I’ve never read Jo Goodman, but I loved the Westerns-both contemporary & historical-that Elizabeth Lowell used to write back in the day. Also, everything I know about cooking dinner in an open fireplace, or on a wood cookstove, I learned from reading mail-order bride stories.

  6. kimsmith says:

I would love to try a Goodman western.  Whatever the setting is, I love being wrung through a good emotional read.  And I would drag that accidental dong everywhere, with pride, if I owned it.

  7. Lindz says:

Also never read a western, but I’m game to try!  🙂

(I grew up on a farm in the West, so that’s gotta count for something.)

  8. Suzy says:

If His Kiss Is Wicked. ‘nuff said.

  9. Annie says:

Gotta say, haven’t read anything by Goodman before. But the cover alone is enough to catch my interest…

  10. Sarah W says:

First, where did you pick up the Welsh?  And why do I find it so strange that there’s a Welsh word for e-mail?  It’s not a dead language, after all, just a bit ornery . . .

The Price of Desire is my favorite of Jo Goodman’s books.  I’ve almost read my copy to shreds.

  11. Cät von J says:

Neither have a fav Goodman nor a Western novel…But I´m willing to try both…especially with an accidental dong!

  12. Sarah L says:

I haven’t read anything by her; I must admit that my favorite Western romances are those by Lorelei James. Her dialogue is sometimes unrealistic, but her characterization is amazing and keeps me coming back for more.

  13. Bri says:

haven’t read Goodman yet!  (ther is not enought time in the day for everyone I want to read!) 🙂  but i am hooked on the Rough Riders series by Lorelei James.  I love the mix of ecclecic an bold characters, sexy goings on (a lot o them!) and great pltting!

  14. Laura (in PA) says:

I haven’t read a Goodman either, but one of my favorite Western romances is Hummingbird, by LaVyrle Spencer.

  15. cleo says:

Haven’t tried Jo Goodman yet.  Sweetwater Seduction by Joan Johnston is one of my favorite westerns – it has everything a good western needs; feuding ranchers and farmers, uptight schoolmarm, gunman for hire, etc etc.

And of course, I cut my teeth on the Little House books, which also have it all.  Love, love Laura Ingalls Wilder.

  16. Abby says:

Marry Me is my favorite Goodman so far…

  17. Carin says:

Never Love a Lawman is my favorite Jo Goodman.  I have to point out, though, that you put up the wrong cover for the contest!  You put up the refinished, official cover, not the ARC cover with the hidden wang.

  18. Jennifer says:

I’ve never read Jo Goodman. The accidental dong is hilarious, though, and makes me want to pick this book up and see if the character lives up to the cover’s expectations.

I really like some of Lorelei James’ work. Her guys keep me coming back for more, even if there are a few eyerolls at some of the dialogue. Kane and India are my favorite couple by far and I reread their book once every few months. Love it!

  19. Vicki says:

Goodman is my one of my favorite romance writers.  Love all of her stuff but my favorite is probably If His Kiss is Wicked.  My fave Goodman western is Never Love a Lawman, although some of her early Dennehy sisters stuffs still holds up really well.

  20. Chelsea says:

Not familiar with Goodman’s work, but I’ll try (almost) anything once. And also, would totally carry this book around to show people.

  21. Jen G. says:

I love the Regency-set Compass Club books!  My favorite’s the first: Let Me Be the One.  The quality of those books got me reading Westerns, which is no easy feat.

  22. Stephanie says:

I haven’t actually read any of her books!

  23. @cleo Hurrah for Sweetwater Seduction. I loved that book. I also love the old Elizabeth Lowells. Never read Jo Goodman but who can pass up the chance at accidental boner?

  24. I really enjoyed Never Love a Lawman by Goodman, and I have Marry Me in my TBR pile.

  25. Susan Laura says:

I liked Marry Me but my favorite is still Never Love A Lawman.

  26. Heidi K says:

Not a big western reader, but I have ridden the mechanical bull at the Cowgirl Museum in Fort Worth!

  27. LadyRhian says:

Probably her first one, Passion’s Bride repubbed and re-titled “Captain’s Lady”. It was one of my first Romance novels, and I loved how Alex Danty pretended to be her own captive when she rescued seamen from being impressed into the British Navy. I still remember the scene clearly, twenty four years later…

How’s that for a favorite book?

Spamword- been68. It hasn’t been 68 years, but close enough. 😉

  28. Lil' Deviant says:

Put me in the haven’t read Jo Goodman column as well.  But would love to give her a try.

Looks like I might have to look up Lorelei James too.

*starts adding names to bottom of her tbr list*

  29. EmilyD says:

I’ve also never read Goodman, although I’m currently perusing her titles on Amazon and adding to my Wishlist. Can’t really say that I’ve read any western romances but am looking forward to giving one (or two) a try.

  30. Kristyn says:

Marry Me is the only one I’ve read. My favorite by default! But I’d love to read another one.

  31. Elli says:

Also never read Goodman, but I will now!  My favorite westerns include the classic Elizabeth Lowells, though I’ve started reading some of the Lorelei James recently.

  32. Rebecca Sexton says:

I’ve never read anything by Jo Goodman, but my favorite western romance is The Outlaw and the Lady by Lorraine Heath. This sounds great, though! And I’m sure the “accidental dong” cover will make it a collector’s item. 😉

  33. Daisy says:

I’m with Carin: I don’t see the phantom dong on this cover.  And I’m not particularly interested in a Western romance right now…I’m posting about the dong, actually.

  34. Hannah says:

Never Love a Lawman is the only book I’ve read by Jo Goodman, and I’d like to read more!

  35. AgTigress says:

Hey, SB Sarah, you must have received an e-mail from someone in Wales!  My jaw dropped when I saw that standard, ‘if you have received this e-mail in error…’ text in Welsh!
    😀

  36. HeatherU says:

I’d say…Never Love a Lawman. It was the first Jo Goodman book I read, and it just set the bar so high on Western romances.

  37. susan says:

I love Jo Goodman! My fave so far is not a western—If His Kiss is Wicked: great book, terrible title. The Compass Club is great too. I like her westerns too. She’s an autobuy for me.

  38. Michelle says:

With a cover like that… it would be my favorite.

  39. Jessica E says:

I must admit to being amongst the ranks of “never having read Jo Goodman’s books,” but I would love to break out of that club!

PS: Did anyone else notice that his arms and hands are a completely different skin color than his chest?

  40. michelle says:

I have yet to read a book by Goodman, but will be looking her up after all the recommendations from her regular readers.  I really like some of Janet Dailey’s Calder books.
