Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Two Categories

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

Liz is looking for two books:

When my friend Marilyn was being treated for breast cancer, I used to read
category romances to her over the phone. There were a couple we both loved,
but I can’t find them and I don’t have a clue what the titles were.

Book #1: Heroine – Australian, helicopter pilot, redhead, pregnant with
twins; hero – prince (or other royalty), daddy issues, kind of a douche.
Memorable line – hero to heroine: Just give me the firstborn! You can keep
the other one! Plot – Hero and Heroine have a fling, bad breakup, she ends
up flying to his castle, he won’t let her leave, she passes out, they find
out she’s pregnant, obviously he wants the heir but is skeered shitless of
commitment, happily ever after. Other notes – the worldbuilding in this book
was ah-MAZE-ing. Even if I never find the book, I’d love to know the author
so I can look up other stuff.

Book #2: Heroine – rancher, pregnant, long lost twin, possibly heir to
fortune. Hero – businessman, kind of a douche, possibly a competing rancher,
had hired private investigator to track down missing twin (or something – I
think this was a series because I never understood the twin thing). Plot –
Heroine has one night stand with Hero, then kicks him out of her life; goes
to his office when she finds out he’s pregnant only he won’t see her
because he told her when she shook off his advances before that he didn’t
want to talk to her again; then he think she’s trying to trick him; the
ranch she inherited might factor into this, either he wants to buy it or she
needs him to buy it or something; they sit on a bench at some point; they
have a falling out late in the pregnancy; he buys a bunch of Christmas
gifts; she agrees to “let him explain” and then goes into labor, but
won’t get into the car unless he brings the Christmas presents with him;
and then there’s the whole twin angle that seemed really out of context.
Other notes – I want to say they got groovy on a pool table in a seedy bar,
but that could just as easily be a flashback to my early twenties. Hard to
say.

I’m pretty sure these were either Silhouette Desires or Harlequin Presents,
both published in or before May 2009.

Sadly, I don’t know the name of the book/s, but this made me chuckle. I mix up book plots with other plots all the time (movies, other books, weird dreams); it makes it impossible to keep track of books. You’d think knowing that would motivate me to start keeping a database, right?  Um, no. Thanks for the laugh, and good luck!

LOL. You’re my new best friend. I have no clue about these books but I wanna read them as soon as someone figures them out!

Also, can I just say you’re the coolest person EVER for reading romances to your friend over the phone because she was sick. Ever.

After doing a bit of searching for books that came out around that time, I think the first book sounds like Forced Wife – Royal Love-Child by Trish Morey.

    The Prince’s Reluctant Bride
Sienna Wainwright has one passionate night with international financier Rafe Lombardi before he unceremoniously casts her out of his bed. Sienna hopes never to see his seductively arrogant face again, but six weeks later their world changes – forever…

Rafe is no longer just a billionaire, but is revealed as the prince of Montvelatte. What’s more, Sienna is pregnant – with his twins! What choice does she have now? Rafe is determined to claim his heirs and take Sienna as his royal wife!

    possible book number 2?

To Tame Her Tycoon Lover – Silhouette Desire, No 1984
    Author: Ann Major
As a girl from the wrong side of the bayou, Cici Bellefleur had loved one Claiborne brother—and been romanced by the other. Foolishly, she’d given Logan her innocence only to learn his seduction was but a means to an end. It was a betrayal she’d never forget—or forgive. — Discovering Cici had returned caught Logan by surprise—as did learning his desire for her had not diminished with time. Years before, he’d led her on to keep her away from his twin brother. Yet now the tycoon vowed to have Cici once again—this time to please no one but himself.

I knew the first one would turn out to be a Harlequin Presents. I suspect that Harlequin laces the books of this imprint with crack. I can’t seem to disentagle myself from them, every time a new one crops up on SBTB, I find myself staring at its Kindle Store page.

  7. Adrianne Gachihi says:

could they be Maya Banks’ ?? i remember a series of books about the Anetakis Tycoons… there was a one night stand somewhere in the first or the second one…. the tycoon’s rebel wife was preggers but the plot is a lil different… idk..

  8. Adrianne Gachihi says:

Trish Morey you say? havent read anything by her… i best get to it.. sounds cool.

  9. Marilyn says:

What Liz has failed to tell you is that I was undergoing radiation and was so weak I couldn’t get out of the bed to hang the phone up. It’s not that these books were so good. It was that she is an evil, evil woman and there was nothing I could do. Nothing I tell you! It was a low point in my life. But she kept me alive and I love her for it!

  10. Trish Morey says:

I think you’re brilliant, Liz, for reading over the phone to Marilyn (and LOL Marilyn, that you couldn’t get out of bed to hang the phone up). So glad you’re on the other side of that horrendous time. Long may it continue.

And it very definitely sounds like Forced Wife – Royal Love-Child to me. I’m so glad it helped, even if there was nothing Marilyn could do to stop it:-)

Your story reminds me of three years ago when a friend of mine broke her neck in a car crash. Horrible horrible shock to everyone but she was alive, if helpless and there she was in traction in the (mixed sex) spinal ward in hospital and another friend was reading her my latest story. She was really embarrassed reading out loud when she got to the love scene. Only the guy in the next bed didn’t want her to stop:-)

And I’m going to that woman’s 40th birthday party next week and I couldn’t be happier.

  11. Liz says:

    Smart Bitches FTW!!!

For anyone curious, the books are Forced Wife, Royal Love Child by Trish Morey and The Throwaway Bride by Ann Major. GO READ THEM.

Don’t let Marilyn fool you! While there were a handful of books that made her accuse me of trying to give her a stroke, she had ample opportunity to hang the phone up. (And by ample, I mean she could have rolled over and pressed the Flash button with her tongue.) And it’s not like I linked her to a thrusting Michael Flatley on youtube, you know? That came much later.

@Trish – TOO FUNNY about the sex scene! I imagine there were some heart monitors going crazy that day. 😉
