Help A Bitch Out

HaBO-Thon: Shimmery Cover and Gravity-Free Nookie!

This request for help comes from Wendy, who remembers a lot about the book, except, of course, the title. Which is why she’s here.

I’ve been searching and searching for a book I read when I was much
younger, at least 16 years ago, and someone recommended you guys to me in
the hopes that you could help me out!

I can’t remember the names of the characters, but the book was silver and
it shimmered with rainbow flecks. It took place in the future and it was two
opposing commanders of space fleets. The book starts out with the man and
the woman meeting up with each other and going into hand to hand combat.

They both where these suits of armor that makes them stronger and protects
them (I can’t remember the specifics). At first it looks like the man is
going to win and he manages to disable the woman’s protective suit and he
begins to tease her into thinking he’s going to have his way with her.

What she wears underneath the suit is like a string full body catsuit, and her
lady parts begin to peak through, which he uses to torment her. Then it
switches and she manages to take him down and he becomes her captive. She
takes him back to her ship and holds him against his will.

Of course he eventually gets the better of her and they have some gravity free sex… I
remember that he had long blonde hair, and she had a full body tattoo that
started at her foot and wrapped around her body… I think it was a wave.

Oh, and there was this futuristic wand machine thing that could be used to
torture captives, but he ends up turning it around on the woman and by
flipping some switches it becomes a sex toy.

He hated her dad for something… and the woman’s close friend ended up being
the bad guy…

I’m sorry it’s so sporadic, but its pretty much all I can remember. I hope
you’re able to help me out because I’d love to get my hands on another
copy of this book.

  1. Shuzluva says:

This sounds like Roark’s Prisoner by Angela Knight. It was part of a Secrets anthology and one of the best scifi stories she’s written.

  2. Mireya says:

Shuzluva beat me to it.  Here’s an excerpt if you want to make sure: http://69.20.21.170/angelasknights.com/html/books/Roarke_excerpt.html

  3. Nicolette says:

I started out thinking “I know this one” and then quickly gave up the idea that it could possibly be “Shards of Honor” by LM Bujold. 😉 Aral and Cordelia do all sorts of things, but kinky sex with torture instruments isn’t among them.

  4. Carin says:

Just from the description I was thinking Angela Knight, but not one I’ve read.  Sounds like it is her, and now I want to find it and read it!

  5. Reneesance says:

I don’t think it’s a Angela Knight I think it might be a Cinnamon Burke.  I vaguely remember one in space with full body tattoo and light covered sparkly cover.  Rapture’s Mist is the on I remember http://www.amazon.com/Raptures-Mist-Cinnamon-Burke/dp/0843934700/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1313249642&sr=8-2

but I think some of the details are different. Definitely space captain lady with crazy tattoo though.

  6. Reneesance says:

Okay sorry so rereading the details of both NOT Cinnamon Burke.  But now I’ve got to go find a copy of Raptures Mist again so I can re-read it *hehehe*

  7. Reneesance says:

http://www.phoebeconn.com/backlist.html  Oh and I never realized that Cinnamon Burke was a pen name for Pheobe Conn.  Ahh today is full of learning!

  8. bookstorecat says:

For a second there, I thought I was actually going to know one of these—-but I was also thinking Roake’s Prisoner, and although it’s VERY similar (full body tech armor, torture devices turned into pleasure devices, hero and heroine on opposing sides of big Space War, etc.), in the Angela Knight story, the heroine is HIS captive, and there’s no peep-show combat scene or full-body tattoo. Not that I recall, anyway.

  9. Shuzluva says:

@bookstorecat In a flashback the heroine is wearing a “string suit” and she and Roarke end up fighting on a beach and the fight turns…er…hot…when the suit suddenly starts revealing some key body parts.

  10. bookstorecat says:

@Shuzluva Ah ha! I thought from the description that the tech armor was involved in that scene as the seeker remembered it—-but I do now recall the string-suit thing.

AND Roake’s Prisoner has a copyright of 1996, which would make the timing right.
