You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!
Y’all, it is HaBO-thon day! HaBOs all day, like a party with mysterious books everywhere. WOO!
Pam sent this over, requesting help. You’d think this would be easy to find, but my Google-Fu and hers have come up empty.
Silhouette Special Edition, probably from the 80s.
Hero is a rock star. Cover has cherry blossoms on it, and I think the title is cherry blossom themed too.
Took place partly in Japan. Had TONS of heartbreak…because hero was a rock star, and rockstars can be tools?? But tools in leather pants. I just remember LOVING IT.
OK, I would totally read that. Anyone remember this book?
Could it be Mist of Blossoms by Jane Converse?
Okay, so I went to try and find this (if it is indeed Mist of Blossoms) and though amazon and abe books have entries for it, whenever it comes up, the reviews, description, etc. is for a book called Flesh and Blood by Michael Cunningham. Am I missing something?
Here’s the plot description for Mist of Blossoms courtesy of Fiction database (great site, BTW):
However, I am not seeing any rock star refs in that blurb.
OMG—my spamword is great63. How did it know??
The cover, publisher, and date all match, so Mist of Blossoms is probably right, even though Fiction DB doesn’t mention the rock star.
It’s weird how that Cunningham book seems to have hijacked all the listings everywhere else!
I had the same issue with the Cunningham book. How bizarre, lol.
Wow, Amazon really does seem to be taking over the universe. Their mistake – mislinking Mist of Blossoms to Michael Cunningham’s Flesh and Blood – has bled out to Amazon UK, ABE books, and eBay.
This cover website
http://book-covers.lucywho.com/jane-converse-book-covers-t598860.html
has a picture of Mist of Blossoms with a blond chick in a kimono-inspired dress sitting under blooming cherry trees and gazing earnestly at a brunet in a white jacket and what appear to be gray slacks – no signs of leather, I’m afraid. Wow, what a run-on sentence….
Re: Cunningham book
Those two books probably share the same ISBN so the Cunningham book ate up the other listing. 🙁
I haven’t read Mist of Blossoms but of the two Japanese-themed SSE from the 80’s I found, this one seemed more likely than the other one. I’ve found, though, that sometimes the back cover summary can be really no help at all so I hope someone who has read this book can confirm or debunk it.
Thank you! My memory for cover design is severely lacking … But I think you all got it! Great book.i am going to hunt it down now…
