I’m currently enjoying quickly rereading some Johanna Lindsey’s that have recently been released as eBooks – Defy Not the Heart, The Magic of You, Savage Thunder and Prisoner of My Desire
I just finished my way slogging through the Game of Thrones series, including the new book. I’m extremely ready to read something where they have cars.
I’m with ShellBell, I’ve been rereading the Johanna Lindsey books in e-format, although I read Tender is the Storm, Love Me Forever, and Angel.
Also, two books by Marisa Chenery, Ra’s Hunger and Icy Temptation, which I liked.
This week I’ve been enjoying dead tree books that have been out for a while (I’m saving the ebooks for my vacation in a few weeks): Kathryne Kennedy’s Relics of Merlin (currently on book 2, Double Enchantment, after the first, Enchanting The Lady), and Jessica Bird’s The Billionaire Next Door – I was curious about her contemporaries, since I like the BDB so much, and I must say it’s really good! I think I’ll track down her other contemporaries. Too bad the sequels to TBND didn’t get written.
I haven’t had a chance to read them yet but I did manage to purchase 6 of your top ten sellers….lol
I’ve read most of Lora Leigh’s Breeds series in the past, minus the first half dozen or so. Yesterday I started the very first book for the first time. I’m enjoying it so far. The Breeds are crack to me.
This week I also finished A NIght of Scandal, the SBTB book club read. I didn’t like it so much – and it’s the first of the book club picks I didn’t care for. It wasn’t bad, just not woohoo! good.
I finally broke down and bought Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Dart. Reviews were mixed, so I wasn’t sure I’d like it—but I finished it in two days, so I’d certainly say that’s a like.
Also read Linnea Sinclair’s Games of Command. Fun read, but the end had me thinking, wait, what? Not quite satisfying enough there.
I bought five other books this week, thanks to this site and Dear Author. Thank goodness they are sale books! Impulse buying is very easy with an ereader.
I’ve been going through some backlists that I want to read. I finished Midsummer Moon by Kinsale yesterday and I have to say that I was disappointed. It was an ambitious and thoughtful novel, but I didn’t like the characters and the constant daft/controlling characterization. I wish about 100-150 pages has been cut from the book. That being said, I still found it enjoyable.
I just started Quinn’s The Duke and I (I was one of those $1.99 Kindle purchasers) and I am incredibly hooked.
Really glad to see “How to Tame a Modern Rogue” on this bestseller list. I really enjoyed it and was sad that it didn’t seem to get much press when it was first released.
Myself, I’m reading “The Second Duchess” (historical fiction/suspense) and really liking it, and in the romance department just finished Kris Kennedy’s ‘Defiant’ which was very enjoyable as well. In scifi, just started “Children of Scarabaeus” which has excellent worldbuilding.
I have bought most of these but I did pick up a couple from this list. I really like that they are now releasing older and especially award nominated romances on Kindle. I’m a sucker—guess that is why I have 400+ books on my Kindle. I’ve downloaded some classics in public domain and added them to the Kindle. It is nice that when I’m in the mood for a classic old mystery I have one to dip into. Sometimes I just can’t read another paranormal, historical or whatever and just want something like Dorothy Sayers or Sherlock Holmes.
I finished Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews and loved it. Now I’m digging through my TBR pile for something equally good to read before I buy Magic Bleeds. I may go for something historical, Loretta Chase perhaps.
I mainlined a bunch of Courtney Milan, and was deeply saddened that there wasn’t more to be had. There’s something nice about discovering older authors for the first time – you have a huge backlist to dig into. Anyway, her books reinjected life into my flagging interest in Britain-set historicals.
Read the first of Lilith Saintcrow’s Jill Kismet novels, and am cautiously liking the series, but I’m still a bit tender over the resolution of the Dante Valentine books, so I’m reluctant to mainline these.
Also read Goldengrove, by Francine Prose, which was wonderful.
well this isn’t a romance, but it is a great read about one strong bitch. Wistling Dixie in a Noreaster by Lisa Patton is on sale for 2.99 on Kindle to spark interest in her soon to be released Yankee Doodle Dixie.
I got and read Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison and it was BRILLIANT!!! I loved it so much.
I’ve been down loading Heyer onto my Nook so read These Old Shades, Devil’s Cub, and The Masqueraders this week. Classics. BTW, I hope you get click through credit from the list because I do click through.
I bought The Duke and I, and was pleasantly surprised enough to head to the online library to score some more Quinn…I do most of my reading via elibrary books, because I am cheap. But $.99, $1.99 books? Those I can do…love these lists, thanks!
In June, Jane mentioned she was reading the Tracer series by Laura Griffin so I bought the first, Untraceable, out of curiosity. I finally got around to reading it this week and I’m officially obsessed. I read the next two books in the series over the weekend and am eagerly awaiting the fourth. Laura Griffin has successfully renewed my love for romantic suspense. Thanks for the recommendation Jane!
Listening to The Proposition by Judith Ivory and really enjoying it! Still cannot find some of my favorite Georgette Heyer’s on cd. Hoping to find The Grand Sophy but the only site that seemed to have it was too hard to use…(has anyone had any luck with ‘usenet.ul’ ?? It is a european digital download site…) Thanks!
Reading N.L. Wilson’s (Norah Wilson) Family Jewels. Hilarious mystery serious kind of like Stephanie Plum. She’s also got a fab paranormal romance out called The Merzetti Effect which is next in the Kindle queue! ALSO reading Gail Carriger’s Heartless which is ridiculously awesome.
Finished “Heartless” by Gail Carriger yesterday morning. Started “Shameless” by Anne Stuart – a nice surprise as I thought this series was going to be a trilogy.
