Help A Bitch Out

HaBO: Maybe He’s Greek

Lily is looking for this book on behalf of someone else, who has been looking for a long time.

I’ve seen that you sometimes post HaBO notices so maybe you could help me
here. It’s not for me but someone I know has been searching for this
Harlequin novel for years. She doesn’t remember lots about it and her
memories are blurred so the details she’s given are not necessarily
verified.

So from what she told me, the book must have been published at least 10
years ago.

The story is about a young lady looking for a job. She had a few side jobs
to make ends meet at the beginning. She met her future boss — he might be
a rich Greek or something like that — when she was working as some kind of
stripteaser (not really but I don’t know how you’d call that job, an
entertainer? a performer?) where she was inside a giant cake and had to get
out to wish her customer a happy birthday. It was probably the boss’s
birthday and he decided to hire her as his personal assistant.

There is a scene about a party in a club where she wore a bunny suit
thinking it was a fancy dress party but that was her mistake as no one else
wore a costume (yes, this screams Bridget Jones’s Diary but unfortunately,
it is not the book she’s searching).

For some reason, the heroine married her boss (maybe a contract?). They went
on a honeymoon to Greece (or was it Italy?).

At the end of the story, she was upset against her husband. Thinking he
didn’t love her, she ran off to the sea. There was some kind of storm and
in the end, her husband saved her from drowning.

So please, if you have any idea, I’d be very grateful for some help.

Jumping out of cakes THEN wearing a bunny suit? Where’s the challenge in that? REAL heroines do BOTH at the SAME TIME. Heh. Anyone remember this book?

I don’t know what the book is, but the scene with the bunny costume is straight out of Legally Blonde (the movie – I’ve never read the book).

  2. Sharon says:

Definitely sounds like a Harlequin book but doesn’t ring a bell for me. Parts sound familiar but they could one of a hundred books. Good luck!

  3. sez says:

Totally read this one!! It’s one of those Harlequin Presents

    Off to Google …

  4. sez says:

It’s War of Love by Carole Mortimer 🙂

  5. Lily says:

I’m the one who sent this request.

It’s War of Love by Carole Mortimer 🙂

Sorry, it’s not War of Love. I’ve already suggested this novel —because of the mention of a bunny suit in the reviews— to the concerned person but she’s confirmed it’s not that book. The thing is that she was certain it was a bunny costume but now she’s not so sure. She says it could be a catgirl costume —at least, it’s still some kinda pet suit.

  6. SB Sarah says:

Suuure. Just make it harder by involving an assortment of furry costumes! Heh heh.

  7. Wahoo suze says:

    Love’s Furry Embrace?

  8. StarOpal says:

    Love’s Savage Furry Embrace.

Why is it when someone shows up in costume at a non-costume party, it’s a bunny suit? (See up thread examples)

  9. Cakes says:

Was it Somebunny to Love by Kitty Amore?

  10. Lily says:

@Wahoo suze, @Cakes: Thanks for the suggestions. Do you have a link to the books or to the authors? I can’t seem to find info about these books.
Are they recent books? If they are, they can’t be the story my pal is searching for she read it 10 years ago, so the book must have been published at that time of before that.

  11. Maria Litsas says:

@Lily I’m pretty sure since no one knows the answer they’re just playing with the concept and making up titles.

    Sorry…

  12. Lily says:

@Maria Litsas: Thanks. I’m just getting desperate with this book. We’ve been asking around for weeks to several romance readers communities and still couldn’t find it. I haven’t told my pal but I’m thinking more and more that she could have mixed up the plot. Though, there is her sister who recognized the book and was adamant it must have been published at least 10 years. A pity she couldn’t remember the title or author too. 🙁

  13. Maria says:

Hmmm could it be The Playboy Bosses Chosen Bride by Emma Darcy? Some of the details kind of match, and she does jump out of a cake. I’ll keep looking tho

  14. StarOpal says:

Okay, with my Google-fu I have to agree with Maria: The Playboy Boss’s Chosen Bride. Mills & Boon have an excerpt of the cake scene here:
    http://mills-n-boon.blogspot.com/2011/04/playboy-bosss-chosen-bride-chapter-3.html

She’s Italian, it’s his grandfather’s birthday party, but it’s what I came up with.

  15. Melissa says:

I read the Playboy Boss’s Chosen Bride, it had some really creepy stuff in it. The heroine does walk out of a cake wearing a rose bikini, where she gets the attention of the hero’s 80 year old grandfather (Hugh Heffner wanna be) who she proceeds to flirt with. I was actually afraid she was going to start making out with Gramps.  But the cake thing is the only part that seems to match the HaBo request so I don’t think that’s it.
