Friday Videos Like Hair

Melinda sent me the links to these commercials for a straightening iron that are like 30 seconds of eye candy. I love them.

Rapunzel:

And Cinderella, the long version:

I hope your weekend is full of excellent hair days. And awesome shoes.

  1. Kathy says:

My daughter says they have Cinderella’s hair all wrong.

  2. jayhjay says:

OMG, those were awesome! I loved the Cinderella one.

  3. Ana Farrish says:

I love it when the princess saves herself.

  4. Elizabeth Smith says:

That is AWESOME I love it!

  5. Maya says:

    Oh, those are FABULOUS.

  6. Great ads, though I thought Prince #2 looked a little skeevy.  I love stories where the princess saves herself!

  7. NatashaB says:

GHDs the best hair straightners eva. One day I shall own a pair of my own.

  8. LG says:

@Darlene Marshall – I thought the same thing, but maybe that was on purpose. After all, in the end Cinderella passed him by like he didn’t even exist.

  9. Abby says:

GHDs really ARE the best straighteners ever, and possibly one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.  They are such stuff as fabulous hair day dreams are made of.

  10. @LG—Yeah, but I wouldn’t have kicked Prince #1 out of my bed for eating crackers.  However, I loved her response at the end of that ad—You go, girl! Literally![g]

  11. abschli says:

Yeah, I’d have at least offered Prince #1 a ride (so to speak – I mean on the motorcycle, of course!) for killing the scary beast, if nothing else… You just can’t undervalue a guy who takes care of large reptiles, spiders, and insects for you. Just sayin’.

  12. quichepup says:

The one consumer product I’ll never need is a hair straightener but these make me want to buy one anyway. So score.

Rapunzel is great, I love the ending but the Cinderella is amazing. That is some amazing looking hair and costuming, wow. I had to watch it twice. Prince #1 is cooler, he rides a bike for one. And does not use more product in his hair than I do.

You just can’t undervalue a guy who takes care of large reptiles, spiders, and insects for you.
    Very true.

  13. Alpha Lyra says:

Wow, I love these! Especially with their unconventional endings.

  14. Marcela says:

Great, too bad cinderella didn’t take the shoes….be independent and great in sparkly heels!

Don’t know about the straightening iron but I want her shoes! …and maybe rapunzel’s price, I got a ladder!

  15. catinbody says:

OMG I thought I needed a curling iron, but apparently I need a straightening iron.  I’m betting they don’t have those at Target, huh?  I love it!

  16. Silver James says:

Those videos absolutely rocked my socks off, covered them in awesome sauce and served them up for dessert!

Spamword: friends87 Those heroines don’t need 87 friends. They rock solo!

  17. Kimi McG says:

Now I desperately need a hair straightener. I loved those. And while I wouldn’t spit on the second prince if he was on fire, the first one was gorgeous, and at least Rapunzel left him a way to get down. Maybe he can track her down and go all alpha and then she can take him down a few notches and…. mmkay. I’m gonna stop writing that ending right there. ^.^

Captcha: Letters92… naw, no one writes letters anymore. How sad.

  18. LizW65 says:

These are fantastic.  They must be British—I can’t imagine the US spending that much time/energy on commercials.

  19. Mina C. Lobo says:

Cinderella’s “undoing” was pretty kewl…her video put me in mind of Tim Burton, anybody else?  (Specifically, the way all the chicks in it were dolled up, and the dramatic unravelling of Cinderella’s fairy-tale chic). Her prince inspired in me a desire to put my fist through my PC’s monitor, though Rapunzel’s dude was pretty hawt.  The song used in both was slammin’ as well. Fun!

  20. beggar1015 says:

I’m totally into the song from the Cinderella ad. Any clue as to song title/performer?

  21. JamiSings says:

I’m going to be the naysayer here. Rapunzel is a horrible, selfish person for not offering the prince a ride. He wasn’t all into himself like the ugly prince in #2. He deserves better treatment then that. She also is a thief, of course. If I saw something like that IRL I’d be calling the cops to have her arrested for stealing the motorcycle. Not praising her for “saving herself.”

The music for the Cinderella one was so awful I had to watch with the volume off. The only thing I agree with is her snubbing that prince. First off, he’s ugly and scruffy looking. Second, he’s a vain little prick.

Anyway, I’ve had hair straighteners used on me and I don’t understand why anyone uses them. They’re horrible, fry the hair. You’re much better off using the old fashion method of washing and setting your hair in curlers, then using an old fashion hooded dryer. And no, you don’t have to sleep in the hard plastic curlers. You can buy sponge ones or even tie the curls up in little clean strips of rags. It makes for a better, longer lasting curl, and doesn’t make your hair look, feel, and break like dried up straw.

  22. beggar1015 says:

    Nevermind, found the song.

  23. Crystal says:

    I LOVE these.
And I’ve always wondered why Rapunzel never saved herself.

  24. Vicki says:

baggar1015, you found the song? Share. Please?

I totally loved Cinderella’s style and, yes, Rapunzel should have given the prince a ride (on the motorcycle).

  25. Gianisa says:

    @Vicki

It’s Lucky You by Le Rev.

  26. NancyG says:

Loved both of them. Stunning visuals and costuming, great music, and setting tradition on its back and tromping on it in stilettos – what’s not to like? As advertising, they are terrific, whether or not the product itself is something I’d buy.

  27. Someone write a book! I’m in love!

  28. cbackson says:

Um, I kind of loved both of those and I’m terminally cynical when it comes to advertising.  Although, as noted above, I would definitely have given Prince #1 a ride on the motorcycle (behind me, of course).

  29. Meg says:

The Cinderella ad reminded me of the 80s movie Labyrinth –  what with the creepy costumes, food displays, new age clock, and disintegrating bits.  (It goes without saying that the creepy Cinderella guy is in no way reminiscent of David Bowie’s awesome Goblin King.)  Great commercials – I wish we could have modern movies like this.

  30. DreadPirateRachel says:

These adverts are wonderful, and since I’m in the market for a new flat iron, I might just have to reward GHD’s marketing department for all their hard work.

    @Darlene Marshall,

Yeah, but I wouldn’t have kicked Prince #1 out of my bed for eating crackers.

Word, my friend. But then, I’ve always had a weakness for sexy badass bikers; after all, I married one.

  31. I’ve always had a weakness for sexy badass bikers; after all, I married one.

@DreadPirateRachel—Gee, and I married an insurance agent/attorney who drives a hybrid.  But I’ve got a very fertile imagination![g]

  32. DreadPirateRachel says:

But I’ve got a very fertile imagination!

    😀 Awesome!
