Here’s most of the pop songs you know, done by the Australian comedy group Axis of Awesome. Thanks to Scrin for the link!
May you have a four-chord weekend!

Oh so true about the modern pop song, and absolutely brillant. And the one in the middle could be Jack Black’s Australian cousi.
Lol, I love stuff like this!
Too cool, this is comedy I love.
This is indeed awesome. It probably doesn’t say anything good that my first reaction to most of the songs was “Oh my God, I love that song!” Yeah, my taste in music is def. not the most hip and sophisticated. 🙂
Brilliant…but is it wrong that it reminds me of the Pachelbel rant?

captcha: probably79…probably at least 79 hit 4 chord songs.
I haven’t seen this video in a while, thanks. And while I love this video, as a cellist who has experienced what Rob Paravonian talks about in his Pachelbel Rant, I love that video even more.
My bestie and I were at a piano bar in Cedar Rapids (Iowa) a few weeks ago, and the keyboardist (Benny) was there with his buddies just chilling, got up and did a few impromptu covers, including an awesome rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” with one of the bar’s other pianists. It was awesome. Just like this video.
I can’t tell what all the songs are I wish the labels had been more clear.
That was awesome!! I had to watch it twice. HAD TO. And I laughed my way through it. So much fun and hilarity all in the same 4 chords.
control99: thats far too much control if you ask me…
@Emily
Here’s a link to another video of them doing the 4 chords that I first watched a year or two ago (they may have updated it since then). Anyway, it shows all the musician and song names.
Loved it! I remember years ago seeing a skit of creating an REM song. Same kind of tongue in cheek humor.
Hahahaha I love this song – I have a comedy station on pandora and this combo song/rant comes on all the time and I laugh every time.
I also remember in a music theory class, going through the formulas for different types of songs, and when we hit 20th century music, someone raised their hand and asked why we study all kinds of forms for 20th century music but we never cover pop music. The professor looked at her for a moment and then said “I-V-IV-VI. There. You just studied and learned pop music”
Seeing as there’s some Australia lovin’ going on I thought I’d add this to links people should check out.
It’s Aussie comedian Adam Hills singing the Australian national anthem to the tune of Working Class Man (as in a hugely popular pub rock anthem in Australia by Jimmy Barnes).
Enjoy.
