Greetings form RT, where the bar goes dead at about 430-5 so people can get dressed up for dinner, and the party doesn’t stop until well past midnight, no matter what time zone you’re in. I heard via Twitter that there were many people in the gym this morning from the RT conference crowd. I’m betting that gym will be a little more sparsely populated in the next few days, unless running with a hangover is your thing.
I know a few people wish they were here, and I can’t say that I blame you for that feeling. I’ve been looking forward to RT for awhile, and can’t wait for the Saturday YA day, and the panels I’m giving. But for all of you who aren’t here, I have a taste of RT for you.
This year, attendees get a pass to the Goody Bag Room, which is filled with books. Really, you walk in and take a deep breath, like it’s fall and someone has a wood fire burning. It’s New Book Smell, y’all. You’re allowed to select 9 books, plus a signed totebag to put them in, so off I went to build a Taste of RT giveaway package.

Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho! It’s such a charming place.
Philadelphia. Why? Because then I could attend? It’s also a city rich in history and things to do, blah blah blah. Hellertown would be okay, too. Close enough.
The postal center in Norman, Oklahoma. I had a conference there – lots of drinking because there’s literally nothing else to do. Really builds a sense of community as you’re trapped together. And there’s great fodder for postal jokes.
It should totally be in Kansas City. It’s right in the middle of the US and also happens to be where I live, but that’s just a coincidence. Though I would totally open my house up for many romance friends that needed a place to crash
My backyard of course (located in Long Beach CA). We have some corn, habanero chilies and a fire pit, I could be friends with all the authors! And cause I have lots of beards (provided by my boyfriend) and a romance novel book shelf (or 4 or 5) that are dying to be filled with new authors. Hey, a girl can dream right?
Denver, CO because I’m moving back there and I’d love to just see people 😀
Washington DC Why? That town could definitely use a little love, romance and passion.
I say Charleston, SC. Historical, beautiful, full of Southern charm. And it gives me the excuse to head back to my favorite city in the country.

I t should be in San Antonio, Texas. Great city, and it means I can visit my parents while I’m there! Otherwise D.C., because even though it is not as great a city, it is fine too and it is within driving distance for me.

I vote for Fort Worth, TX because 1) it gets so little conference love 2) I would actually be able to attend because I am a poor 20-something who can’t afford to fly to exotic places I don’t live.
Denton, TX would be an amazing place to hold RT. Or any location near here so I can drive to it!

I want it to be in Seattle Washington, that would be amazing!! I’m living in Northern California now and have been for the past five years and were hoping to make our way back to WA, sometime next year. I have family all over the Seattle area and my cousin is a book nerd like me. I soo wanted to go this year and have been dying to go every year but expenses are a little too much, I have no one to come with me and my husband works like crazy 6 days a week and it would be impossible to drag my three young kids there. Well, not impossible, just not any fun for me. If It found it’s way to Seattle, even if we haven’t made our way home yet, we go back to visit family and I could totally plan our trip around it, having babysitters set up with family and drag my cousin with me. It would be perfect!!!!! Dream come true, let’s cross my fingers this would happen 🙂

Louisville, Kentucky!! A few reasons why, the first being because I’M here! It’s Derby Festival time, and there are tons of things to do in Louisville, great shopping, awesome bars, great concerts at the YUM Center (more because of the time of year!) AND never mind the amazing authors who are from Kentucky who’d be front and center! We’re proud that we have so many amazing authors from here, and wonderful things to do, and we’d LOVE to host RT!!
Portland, OR. Extreme amounts of beer and late-night, creme-filled doughnuts shaped like peens.
Dallas, TX – so I can attend of course. Also, who doesn’t want a chance to hang out on the grassy knoll. 🙂

Seattle, WA gets my vote. Lots of fans and writers in the Pacific Northwest. The closest most of these conferences get for us is CA. Nothing against CA, but moving north for a change would be much appreciated.
Fargo, ND. For no other reason then no one really ever wants to go to ND and this would make people go there. Plus I just like typing the word.

Seattle, WA.
Seattle is the perfect town to host the next RT. Not only do we have a major airport for everyone to get here but a downtown convention center large enough to host the event which is also within walking distance to Nordstrom’s flagg ship store. Other sight to behold, Starbucks headquarters, since there is no better place for a cup of coffee, see the fish fly at Pike Street Farmers market and finally take in dinner and the panaromic view of Seattle from the Space Needle.
St. Louis, MO. It’s been a long time since I’ve been there, but you’ve got to be able to do something fun with “Gateway to the West.”
Well I’d say Nashville but disasters hit everytime I look forward to a book oriented event lol. Atlanta is drivable. lets go with that!
Well, my #1 pick is Chicago, so my dream is coming true already.
Hmmm…just to be selfish I’d day pick #2 would be Milwaukee…though it’s not the most romantic locale, the Third Ward and River Walk make for a great date.
Boston, for two reasons. First, then I could go. Or at least hang out at the bar and get my drunk on with all y’all.
Second, because if there’s a city that needs some of the stuffy, Brahman, Puritan, academic stick-up-the-ass blown* out of of it, it’s this one.
*You may decide which way I meant that.

I’m with Kathy C: gotta plug my beloved Kansas City. We are centrally located, people, so no area of the country needs to feel left out. And there is barbecue. Lots of tasty, tasty barbecue.
