Faking It - With Flowers: A Giveaway

Book CoverHere’s a little something new and different. To celebrate the release of “Faking It,” by Elisa Lorello, I’ve got my totally-craving-spring hands on a giveaway for you: flower delivery service California Blooms is donating 1 dozen roses to a Smart Bitches, Trashy Books reader located in the continental U.S. The winner will also get a free copy of FAKING IT! If you win, you can have the flowers and book sent to yourself (who doesn’t want a dozen roses and hot read delivered to her door?) or someone you love.

Faking It by Elisa Lorella is about Andi, a composition and rhetoric professor, who breaks off her engagement and moves home to Long Island to start her life and career over. Then she meets Devin, a male escort whose client list seems to include at least half of the accomplished women she knows. Devin is totally handsome and charming (and quite out of her league) but Andi senses something underneath his sexy exterior that fascinates her. So she proposes a “teaching” arrangement: each of them will educate the other in what they know best. Devin will teach Andi to be a better lover, and she’ll teach him to be a writer.

That’s right, it’s all about conjugation up in here. Awwww yeah.

Yes, this giveaway is US only (sorry about that – if I could send flowers to you wherever you are, I totally would, unless you live in one of those luscious tropical countries with flowers all over the place and would look at one more bloom as a reason to screech). All you have to do is leave a comment with what you think is the sexiest verb (in any language), and you’re entered to win. Comments will be open for 48 hours, and standard disclaimers apply: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. I really like flowers. No animals were disturbed in the writing of this entry. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear (and may also be bigger, too – woo!) Yes, verbs totally are sexy. They are the sexytimes of the parts of speech.

  1. Cecilia says:

“Handareguear” is my favorite—it’s a Spanish verb that means “to roam” or “to wander.” Like the person above, who chose “to roam,” it makes me think of wandering hands, tongues, etc. And trust me, it’s much sexier to say than it is to spell.

  2. riwally says:

    sat·is·fy/?satis?f?/Verb
    1. Meet the expectations, needs, or desires of (someone).
    2. Fulfill (a desire or need).

    Oh, hell, yeaaa….

  3. Jill says:

“possess”  so primal 🙂  I love that.  (wonder if I spelled it right? LoL)

  4. jessi says:

I’m partial to nuzzle myself – although as I typed that I just had an image of a horse nuzzling me instead of a man. hmm…

  5. Sarah S says:

    tempt

  6. Megan says:

Maybe because I just like sex to be natural and playful:

    Tickle!!

  7. Jrant says:

I’m going to second “arch” and “spread” – incredibly arousing words when used in the right context.

  8. Tiblet says:

I have to go with to whimper.

  9. Joan says:

Sexiest verb, hmmm… I like succored or even succoring!

  10. Undulate

Because it takes time to say or do, and the shape of your lips as you say it is a kiss.

  11. press! It can mean so many things. 😉

  12. Sarah New says:

Sexiest verb is ‘to read’.  Nothing hotter than a hot dude with a book!

  13. Hsue says:

    Witty.

A clever man who can make me laugh…sigh.

  14. Emma says:

‘Enamorar’ means ‘to win the heart of’ in spanish.  Its wonderfully sexy 😉

  15. Sparrow says:

My favorite verb is French; baiser.  It means ‘to kiss’ and one would use it when talking about kissing a lady’s hand, but in slang parlance it also means ‘to f*ck’, it’s so naughty and proper at the same time, I love it.

  16. crystal says:

Touch.  My husband’s great at touch.

  17. Kar says:

Seduce? Ravish? Or maybe Respect. Respect is a very sexy thing.

  18. heathero says:

    Look.

Because in one of the best romances ever, John Cusack lifts that boom box over his head and Peter Gabriel’s words sing out that it is “In Your Eyes.”

  19. Emily says:

defenestrate. The meaning, not so sexy. But it’s an awesome verb.

  20. Sharon says:

    Luxuriate.

It’s just feels incredibly sexy to say, and it can have sensuous connotations, as well.

  21. Janet H says:

    Trust

  22. Freikugel says:

A lot of sexy verbs make me laugh like a 12 year old boy when I read them on their own. Like, “relish” makes me think of hot dogs.

I will say “stroke”, because it makes me think think of someone’s fingers running down a smooth back.

  23. Pamela Sinclair says:

embrace is one of the sexiest verbs I’d have to say.  Just a tidbit, often in Manga’s and Anime they will say “embrace me”  and it means make love to in their context.

  24. Jen H says:

    Gotta go oldskool here: kiss.
As in, “keep it simple, stupid”. Also, kissing is just hawt.

much84: Um, I’m sure there was much kissing in ‘84, but I was 12, so I was only reading (and dreaming) about it:)

    Pique.

    Because curiosity’s sexy.

I would have to say kiss!

  28. Renee says:

“I downloaded this book over about a year ago for .99 -reader beware, it is NOT a romance, if that is what you’re expecting, at least not the version I read. How is it a new release? I’m not trying to be snarky. I just find it odd, more so because Amazon does not give me the usual head’s up that I already bought this book. New publisher?”

This was an indie (self pubbed) book that was picked up by Amazon Encore and republished under their imprint.

I agree, it is not a typical romance. I was surprised to see SBTB promoting this book . . . they don’t typically endorse self-pubbed books.

  29. OdetteLovegood says:

    To ululate. Ululating, ululated, ululation.

As in, As Stefan pleasured her to her thrilling climax, Katrina suddenly shuddered and ululated in ecstasy.

    That is some sexy shit.

  30. lunarocket says:

I know which verbs aren’t great: licking and laving. EWWWWWWwwww those 2 drive me nuts!

    Thrum.

Now there’s a good verb. Can’t say I’ve seen it in a romance novel yet, but surely, someone out there has used it?

  31. faith wafford says:

    Consume

    Love

  32. Amy Pickering says:

querer-Spanish for to want, as in te quiero-I want you (spoken in my head by Javier Bardem)

  33. Jenn3128 says:

    Thrusting

  34. Abbie says:

I’m never very good at these things. Stroke is what comes to mind.
