Sizzling Book Club January Selection: Here Comes the Groom by Karina Bliss

Sizzling Book ClubIf you read the chat transcript from our Sizzling Book Club chat the other night, you saw at the end that I announced the next book club pick: Karina Bliss’ Here Comes the Groom.

Book Cover YOU. GUYS. Seriously. I couldn’t have enjoyed this book more: a terribly real heroine with Real Problems who has a deep and abiding friendship with the hero—it’s friends to lovers with secrets and an over-the-top awesome ending, plus outstanding dialogue and hilarity. GO READ IT. Here, have blurb:

If Jocelyn Swann weren’t so furious, she’d probably laugh. Her best friend, Dan Jansen, has launched a campaign worthy of his Special Forces training to arrange their wedding, from music and minister to flowers and food. What part of no does he not understand?

Their marriage “agreement” was a tipsy scrawl on the back of a coaster…three years ago! It’s not a question of love. Of course she loves Dan. She’s loved him all her life. If only she could get him to slow down a minute and listen—to be the friend she needs right now—she could convince him that marriage would ruin everything.

As usual, if you use SBTBARE at checkout, you will get a 50% eBook Bucks Rebate at AllRomance.com, the official sponsor of the Sizzling Book Club. You can also buy a copy at Amazon.com, or Book Depository, or wherever the books in your preferred format are sold.

I’m already working on scheduling the chat, and author Karina Bliss is all over it, so if you read the book and enjoy it, you’ll be able to chat with the author at the next chat session. Please note: several participants told me there are now popup ads in the CoverItLive window during the live chat. I had NO idea, and I apologize profusely for that! I’m going to look for another onscreen chat option, but if you have one to suggest, please email me at sarahATsmartbitchestrashybooksDOTcom. If I can find a way to keep CoverItLive but get rid of the ads, I will do so. My apologies – I had no idea.

But since it is The Holiday Season, we’re doing something a little different this time: Karina Bliss has offered up three signed paperback copies, and I have three digital copies from All Romance to offer, so if you’re thinking you want to try this book, leave a comment and let me know which format you’d prefer. You have (OOPS – a little over) 24 hours to win.

Standard disclaimers apply: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Winners are chosen by the Random Integer Generator. Your mileage may vary. Void where prohibited. Do not remove this tag under penalty of law.

I cannot wait to hear what you think of this book. Karina Bliss is one of the best Harlequin authors I’ve read, and I would love to hear your reaction to this book when we next convene the Sizzling Book Club Chat.

I’d prefer the dead tree edition.

  2. Anony Miss says:

    Gimme an E!

    E!

    Um, please. 🙂

I’ve just read some seriously unimpressive HQ’s, so I’m rally, rally ready for a good one!

  3. jayhjay says:

I am very excited to read this book. Although I am a prolific romance reader, I have stayed away from Harlequins – the covers terrify me! So this will be my first foray, but everyone seems to have enjoyed this book so I am looking forward to trying it.  I would prefer digital please.

  4. mad madam m says:

I’d love a digital copy for my ever reliable Kindle.  I seem to be reading more and more books ever since the magical device came into my life!

  5. Jane Squires says:

I would love to win the paperback.  If I win, the author gets a bonus.  Because I will review the book on several sites as well as pass it on to get her known.  That is what I do.

  6. Jennifer Logan says:

This sounds awesome, I will have to get this one before the chat. Ebook is my preferred choice.

  7. Stephanie C says:

Ebook Please! I was just about to go buy this when I saw the contest so now I will wait a day 🙂

  8. Angie G says:

I’d love to read this one!  I don’t have an e-reader so paper would be my choice.  Thanks!!!

  9. Erin L says:

I would love a digital copy. It looks like a great read.

  10. tonya says:

I’ve never read a Harlequin Super Romance before! Shocking, I know! I would prefer a digital copy but a paper copy would be great too!

  11. tee says:

I’d be happy with either a book or digital copy!  If you aren’t paying the postage yourself, a digital copy from the ibookstore would be awesome!  🙂

  12. Lindsey says:

Oooh, I’ve been eying this book, and since the folks over at Dear Author seem to love it (and I enjoyed Bliss’s last book), I’ve been thinking of getting it, though I keep going back and forth over whether I’m going to buy it or not. I don’t have a preference of digital over paperback, though. Either format is fine with me.

  13. Kaye says:

Oohhh !!  A freebie of a book that has gotten several great reviews = send me the eook please!

  14. michellekcanada says:

Love your review! I am all about the digital so if I won, I’d go with digital.

    Thanks!

  15. Holly says:

I just got a nook for christmas – so I would love to add to my library and read this too.

  16. I’d love a chance at this book. Don’t care if the copy is paperback or Kindle (just got one for Christmas). Sounds like a great book for a rowdy discussion.

  17. Ellowyne says:

I would love a paperback!  There’s something about holding the book that a screen just won’t do for me.

  18. Julia says:

Been wanting to take part in the book club for awhile, thinking that this is a great time to try it.  Digital!

  19. LisaJo says:

I’m throwing my hat in the ring for a paperback copy, please!

  20. 17catherines says:

Oh, this sounds delightful!  I’d love a paperback copy.

  21. mumatwork35 says:

I met Karina Bliss a couple of years ago at a Valentine’s Day book talk she did at the library. I have been a big fan ever since. I would love a paperback copy – the excerpt has left me wanting more !!

  22. Debbie says:

I’d love a paperback copy! I collect autographed books.

  23. kleio says:

I put this on my BN nook wishlist, but winning it would be even better! I’d love to win a digital copy. 🙂

  24. infinitieh says:

I would prefer a paper book but an ebook would be great, too.  I don’t particularly like reading ebooks on my laptop but it’s doable and the excerpt is motivation enough.

  25. Carin says:

I don’t need a copy – I’m reading it right now!  If my number gets pulled, send me a paperback and I’ll pass it on to a friend.  I loved What the Librarian Did and I’m sucked into Here Comes the Groom already.  I’m looking forward to this book club discussion and hoping I can actually make it!

  26. Doris says:

Paper, please!  Sounds like a great book!

  27. Susan Reader says:

Everybody is rrrrrrrrrrrrrrraving about this, and I’ve liked her stuff in the past so sign me up!  I’d prefer a paperback…

  28. Beth K says:

Paperback is where it’s at. I’m not equipped for e-reading…..(which is a ridiculous term. Surely it is just reading. regardless of whether on screen or no? Hmm.)

  29. Julie says:

This book sounds awesome. I’d prefer a paperback. 🙂

  30. Erin D says:

I’m always on the lookout for a new author!  I have a Kindle, but wouldn’t turn away a paperback, either.

  31. Theresa says:

I’d love to try this book.  I just got a kindle so would love that format.

  32. Sybylla says:

Tough question…I’d say I’ve got a slight preference toward the electronic format, if only because my husband complains so much about all the books in the house, but if my number comes up and the electronic versions have been given already, I’ll happily take a paper copy and sneak it past him.

  33. Mary says:

    Digital copy, yes please?!!

  34. sugarless says:

I’d love a free copy and, while I would most definitely prefer it in digital (NOOK FOR CHRISTMAS! EEEEEEEE!!!) I would still be happy with a paperback version.

  35. Petra says:

If I’m not too late… ebook please!

  36. Petra says:

..wasn’t sure because it’s 2.07pm and the 31st over here in New Zealand 🙂

  37. I know Karina personally, and she is a truly lovely lady! I’m thrilled to bits that her books are being so well received—she thoroughly deserves this level of success, and I’m sure all the RWNZ members who’ve met her will agree.

    Digital copy, please!

Note to self: stalk her at our next RWNZ meeting and ask her to sign a print copy for my mom 😉

  38. Maria says:

Oooo I read a review of this book over on Dear Author and was super psyched for another Karina Bliss. What do I find when I mosey on over to SBTR? A free giveaway! YAY!

I’d like a digital copy if the powers that be, the fickle finger of fate, or whatever deems me worthy of winning.

  39. Dee says:

Oh, fun – giveaway! Don’t normally keep up on Harlequin but this sounds fun. Would love to try this author. 🙂 Paperback would work for me.

  40. Katie Ann says:

I would love to win this and get to try out this new (to me) author.  Dead trees, please.
