How’d I miss this? Galaxy Express is hosting a fantabulous giveaway of books and the deadline to enter is Sunday 26 December. And it’s not just some books – it’s 50 books. NICE.
Also, if you follow Angela James on twitter, you might notice she started an #ebooks4mxas campaign. Each day she’s giving away a copy of one of her favorite romances. Today’s book is the first Kate Daniels book by Ilona Andrews, and the giveaway continues through Christmas. I am reading the Daniels series now as a treat for my brain for extra hard work on the book-in-progress, and it’s delicious reading.
What other giveaways are you noticing right around now? Got one to pimp? Have it in the comments!
Starting tomorrow, I’ll be giving away a box of miscellaneous romance books plus the choice of one of my books to one random commenter to that post on my blog between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. I’m taking a short vacation from blogging since I have a 12/31 deadline. I thought I’d leave something fun as a “placeholder.” Click on the link here or on my name above:PENUMBRA
Happy Holidays!
Literary Escapism is giving away multiple book packages for donations to a charity (Child’s Play):

It’s a really nice set of prizes and she doesn’t have a flood of entries yet. It would be lovely to see her flooded!
Thanks so much for linking to the Blitz! I emailed you about it, but it must have gotten lost in the shuffle. Oh those silly Internet imps…
I enjoyed the first couple of Kate Daniels books.
The third one was…not as good, but serviceable.
The fourth…Ergh. It had a couple of very cool new characters, but the old characters apparently got beaten with the Moron Bat in regards to romance and some of the stuff established earlier is forgotten. Which is a shame—the setting is very cool and a decent way to handle a Fantasy Kitchen Sink (Which means…every fairy tale, every monster, every myth is true, some way or another.)
They do have some good mythology crash-courses, though, and I like how vampires have less of a mind than your average goldfish and, if you starve one eventually it will get hungry enough it will begin to cannablize itself, the vampire transformation process burning away the mind and making a creature which just lives to continue living, and to spread the infection. The vampires are very much not cool, suave sex gods. They don’t sparkle. And I like that. I like it a lot.
I’ll go on and list the series for the interested—
Magic Bites
Magic Burns
Magic Strikes
Magic Bleeds
I think I’ll keep an eye out for the fifth one to see if it starts going back uphill.
Thanks so much for linking to this. I’m laid up with a back injury and finding all these new and interesting blogs is helping to while away the time!
Cheers,
