Cammy, I believe that’s from the Emma Thompson Sense and Sensibility, and the rescuer is the gorgeous Mr. Emma Thompson, Greg Wise.

“remember25” – not very clearly, these days.

  2. fifi trixibelle says:

How could they miss out Sean Bean as “Sharpe” bathing stripped to the waist and bathing in a stream…

  3. HoneyBearKelly says:

Rupert Penry-Jones is just stunning. And Richard Armitage made me forget Colin Firth. North & South is available on Netflix watch instantly thingie. Watch it and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

  4. oldbitey says:

Oh, so lovel, but where…is Mr Rochester? Hello? Toby Stephens!! Lotsa wet and rain scenes in Jay Eyre!

  5. oldbitey says:

Um…sorta ruins the rant when you misspell Jane Eyre.

  6. Mimi says:

    oh…

    my…

    gaaaaahhhh…..*dissolves into puddle of …drool…*

  7. Literary Slut says:

Somebody fan me, quick!  Oh my, Alan Rickman is soooo swoonworthy.
I’m so over to Netflix to add to my queue.

  8. JamiSings says:

I wonder if Alan Rickman is even aware of what a sex symbol he is.

  9. Augustina says:

Have watched it four times in the past half hour and can’t seem to stop smiling – brilliant, absolutely brilliant 🙂

  10. Colonel Angus says:

I want to go to there

  11. Holy moley…Yeah.  No wonder I love reading Regencies.  All the pretty, pretty men with their awesome clothes.  Now if only men STILL dressed like that and women weren’t stuck with the dresses and corsets.  Heh.

  12. HelenMac says:

@fifi trixibelle : agreed! Sean Bean as Sharpe is a glaring omission.

@HoneyBearKelly : oh thank goodness! I was scrolling through the comments, wondering why no-one had commented on the loveliness that is Mr Penry Jones.

    @oldbitey : oh, Toby Stephens…*siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

  13. oogame says:

I love that miniseries as much as the Pand P one, which is saying something

  14. mollificent says:

Chiming in on the Toby Stephens side.  The scene in the recent JE when he and Ruth Wilson come in out of the rain and kiss…oh MY.  And Toby in general, of course.

Also yay to anything involving Sean Bean with his shirt off.

(Just realized this may be my first post…can’t remember.  Been reading for a few months.  LOVE this site. :))

  15. Lydia Storm says:

Such fabulousness!  But how could they have left out Room With A View?

Regency fashion didn’t call for the torture of a boned corset. Here’s a site that discusses Regency era topic, including underwear.

A Look at Regency Underwear (from http://tinyurl.com/ylowo4a )

Fashionable young ladies of the Regency were fortunate to escape one constriction that had haunted the lives of their mothers and would later fall to their daughters and granddaughters: The Boned Corset. Where both the Georgian and Victorian sillouette called for unnaturally small waists and straight backs, designers during the Regency were captivated by the “natural Female form.” Drawing inspiration from classic greek and roman statuary (all things ancient Greece were the rage at this time) they allowed for column dresses with minimal flouncing. Where once layers of hoops and petticoats reined, now almost modern dress shape took over. Waists were raised to just under the bosom while skirts hung free.

each46 – each woman could dress herself without 46 maids to lace her into her clothing

  17. Rachel says:

Holy yum.  First…“It’s Raining Men” is my disco jam, 100%.  It played at a male strip club one time and I absolutely freaked out!  I spent the most money during that song.

Second…I will so be watching every single one of those movies when I have the end of next week off from work.

  18. Trippinoutmysoul says:

EVERY TIME I read the words “wet period drama” I see “wet period dream” instead….good grief.

south87- I was born in the South, in ‘87!

  19. Kristin says:

Absolutely FABULOUS…the only thing that would have made it better would have been having the original Weather Girls singing it.

  20. JamiSings says:

BTW – That version of It’s Raining Men – is it the original or one of the covers? Because I was thinking of buying it on iTunes but the one there that’s suppose to be the original has some speaking in it where this one seems to be 100% singing. I’d rather have the version from this video.

  21. quichepup says:

This is the only thing that comforts me, my Pokes just lost to OU, 47-41.

I might need to watch it a few more times, just for comfort’s sake.

  22. ev says:

There’s going to be a, probably, dry Colin Firth on CBS Sunday Morning today.

  23. Kirstin says:

Hi!  I think I’ve seen all these movies – except for the Ioan Gruffudd film.  Which one was that?  Must rectify this situation!

  24. Erica says:

    This video = My Catnip!

  25. That was just heaven.

  26. Suzanne says:

    Oh LAWD! Sooooo gooood! heeee!

  27. Breemgrrl says:

Oh, yes, just the mood lifter I needed today! Loverly, indeed. I could have used a bit more Alan Rickman, but with this many riches, I’m not going to complain too much. 🙂

  28. Randi says:

    @Chance:

Who and what show is that at 1.11? i must see this please!!

OMG yes! Who is that guy!!??

    subject59: I’d be his subject 59 times.

  29. Alison says:

“This video = My Catnip! “

That created a wonderful mental image for me thank you.

  30. Jennifer says:

I just showed this to my husband who said “It’s distressing to me that not only have I probably seen most of these movies, but that I also enjoyed them.” Thanks for the awesome clips!

  31. Julia says:

Who and what show is that at 1.11? i must see this please!!

It’s from Wives and Daughters, which is really amazing and well worth watching!
