OK—that’s creepy. And it is one of my daughter’s favorite movies so I’ll have to watch it again soon…in a whole new light.

  2. OutlandishSam says:

Brilliant. I may just be too much of a musical addict, but this is fan-freakin-tastic.

  3. LEW says:

I just had a conversation with someone at work this morning about how I thought Mary Poppins was a bitch when I was a kid.  This really firms my belief.

  4. Jennifer Armintrout says:

This is a classic.  Not in a halloween vein, but I’m pretty sure this is by the same guy who did the “Brokeback to The Future” trailer.

  5. Kat says:

If that had been the ads for that movie, I never would have seen is when I was young and certainly wouldn’t have played it for my children either!

  6. MelB says:

Too cool! I love this and will definitely be directing some friends here to watch it.

  7. Sarah W says:

    Whoa.

The mary POppins books are far more mystical, and just a tad darker, than the movie.  Not quite this dark, though.

You know, it wouldn’t take much to creepify the original Willy Wonka movie (with Gene Wilder) . . . That movie scared the behooey out of me—-i didn’t make it past the blueberry incident until I was in high school.

  8. abigail-madison chase says:

    cool

  9. Lizabeth S. Tucker says:

somebody actually HAS done the original Willy Wonka movie as a horror film.  Not anywhere as good as this one or even as Brokeback to the Future, but still watchable.  I also liked the redone trailer for The Shining as a happy, family film.

Home76 Yep, I’m home and it is about 76 degrees.

  10. Elemental says:

Oh, you had to bring up the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, didn’t you? I’m one of a generation of children who were traumatised by that scene in the tunnel.

A lot of “classic” children’s stuff has quite a dark edge when you take a serious look at it, which might be why they’re classics in the first place.

  11. Lizabeth S. Tucker says:

Anyone who has read the Roald Dahl books will know that they are anything but children’s books, being very dark indeed.  I love them!

  12. Cakes says:

    I will never sleep again.

  13. Bibliophile says:

Love it! I always knew Mary Poppins had a dark side.

  14. P.N. Elrod says:

The scariest thing about that movie was Dick Van Dyke’s attempt at a Cockney accent.

    I still wake up screaming.

  15. DS says:

I was taken to see Mary Poppins when I was a child and I think this was my first big disappointment because movie characters were so different from the books.  I didn’t get to see it all because it put my dad to sleep.  He started snoring so we left.  I immediately reread all of my Mary Poppins books to get the Disney taste out of my mouth.

I’d love to see this trailer but it seems to have wiped out.

  16. DS says:

Oops got it to work.  Don’t know what was wrong the first time.  But this is great.

  17. J says:

There are a slew of these on youtube – scary mary, one about The Shining, one about Jaws (intimating a romantic relationship between shark and fisherman), a ROFLMAO one about the 10 Commandments and one that you just have to see – Glen and Gary and Glen and Ross…!!!

  18. sweetsiouxsie says:

I still love that movie! My sister saw it 17 times. She loved it too. My favorite sayings:
    “You know best.”
    “Well begun is half done.”
I enjoyed the scary trailer!! 😉
