Hello. Ah am Gracie. Ah am one of Sarah’s cats. Ah am one of two girls in this house. Everyone else is a boy.
That is the disgusting.
Here is me. Am Ah not pretty? Ah am pretty. You can send me the tributes. Ah like the Pounce.
Sarah asked me to write the entry today because Ah have not ever done so, despite sitting on many, if not all, of Sarah’s romance novels. Mah Gawd, they are everywhere. Piles of them. Ah like to drape my
hairy backside
– ahem – beautiful puffulous posterior across as many as possible, especially if they are in the sun. The books make mah furs glitter, and Ah hear that is very desirable.
Let us go back a minute. Aren’t Ah pretty? Yes, thank you. Admire Mah
Booty
Beauty.
Anyway, this is my brother, Oliver. Sarah calls him The Diggus. Ah call him The Stupid. He is the very dumb. Oliver and Ah were born in Brooklyn. We are rescue kitties adopted from North Shore Animal League. Sarah adopted us because it was the easiest way she knew of to make sure she and Mah Man didn’t break up when they moved in together. See? Ah am pretty, and Ah am the relationship guarantee, in one pretty furry package.
Then came The Spawn, and his late brother, The Foo. They are rescue kitties, too, from… oh, Ah do not care where they are from, but I wish Spawn would go back there. He is annoying. There are more boys, too: DOG Boys. Can you imagine the indignity? First, there was Toto, and Logan, who both came from the Petfinder.org. And now there are the TWO boy dogs – this is unacceptable but no one is listening to me, here. Buzz and Zeb are from a kill shelter in Arkansas, and Ah will tell you between us that Ah am glad they are here, but Ah wish they would stop trying to sniff Mah Butt. Indignity, Ah tell you.
Anyways. Sarah asked me to write this to tell you that the people at the Avon Books have lost their ever loving’ minds. First they wanted to make a book trailer, but when they said Ah could not be The Star, I said, No. Spend your money somewhere else. Like on me. Then they said no. So then we had the idea. Their author, Liz Carlyle, has rescue cats (clearly, she is the woman of the excellent taste) and to celebrate her new book, One Touch of Scandal, Avon is doing A Touch Of the Crazypants Fund Raising.
For every comment left here, and at a collection of other blogs about the romance, AvonBooks will be donating $1 to Cat Angels, a rescue organization chosen by the Ms. Carlyle. She has the good taste, yes.
The donation will be capped at $3000.00 US, with one comment per person, though you can comment at the other sites including Avon Romance, DearAuthor, Romantic Times Blog, Borders TrueRomance, Fresh Fiction among others (links to come! – SBS). Comments will remain open until we hit $3000.00, or 3000 comments across all the different sites. How long do you think that crazy will take?
If you have the time for that kind of thing. Ah personally am due for Mah Nap.
So go leave the comments here and elsewhere. Feel free to compose odes to the awesome of animal rescue, or to Mah Beauty, or both, and help rescue kitties, like me. $3000, 3000 comments, all for the kitty rescue. Leave the comment, spend the dollar. Is easy.
Because rescue kitties like me, we are the Awesome. And so pretty, did you not notice? Yes, Ah know. So pretty.
Diggus, Spawn, Gracie, and Zeb have a message for you:
Gracie, ah heer ur pane. Mah advise: bite! Hard and offen.
Then, nap.
(PS. good werk. ah wood do dis 2, but am napping.)

Grace do you really want a rival for their admiration?

Save the kitties! They are teh cutez.
Another dollah for teh kittehs!!
Dear Gracie,
I feel your pain; I am the only female in my house. Stay strong.
spamword: maybe25 (I wished!)
Yes, you can has comment! Go kittehs!
Four much-loved and overindulged cats here begged me to comment for their overseas brethren. Magrathea, Cal, Abraxus and Ambrose. Also got dogs, but not allowed to mention them in same breath.
Another allergy sufferer her who would love to have a kitteh, especially one as awesome as Gracie. But since I can do that, I can still comment and help save kittehs for others to love. And I can admire from a safe distance.
Thank you Avon and Liz Carlyle.
Spamword: Special 23—there are way more than 23 special cats out there to be saved.
Hooray for rescue kitties! May your people rescue more female animals soon.
My Kismet, a beautiful big gray boy, walked in the door of our rented townhouse as we were looking for a house to buy. We had planned on getting a cat from the shelter once we got settled in, so it was just fate that he found us!
What a great claws err I mean cause – Smoodge and Sparky – (wicked and spoiled felines)
Wonderful! I just adopted an abandoned kitty. His name is Selkie, and we are now the bestest of friends. Mostly because he knows I give him food. But he also insists on sleeping on my boobs whenever possible. It’s rather aggressive.
Ah, the kitty. She’s right about the big, meanie boy kitties. And those dogs, what could Sarah have been thinking.
Rescue kitties, near & dear to my carpets… Seriously hair *everywhere*. Worthless beasts.
Killer (that’s what happens when you let the 5 year old name a cat)
Tycho (that’s what happens when you let the husband name a cat)
&
Bad Kitty aka Blackjack (extra toes really are a sign of the Devil)
all say thank you for the donation!
My rescue kittie says to comment and save her sisters/brothers of other mothers. Since I value my skin, my furniture, and my sanity- Here I am!
( not that she would actually do that- but we who own cats know who’s in charge- no? 😉 )
Rescue animals are the best! No kittehs here, but 2 rescued goggies who make life infinitely better. Dexter and Gary Cooper both say ‘Yay Avon!’
Clearly, Miz Gracie, you should blog more often.i
My brother and his wife rescue cats in Minneapolis. They aren’t going to have kids, so they’ve got cats instead. They only have two currently, but they’re both very pretty kitties, just like Gracie AND they’re girls! They and Gracie should totally become facebook friends.
Sadly I can’t rescue cats, I’m horribly allergic to them. And I’ve no room for dogs. 🙁 But I’m more than happy to help out those who can! So here’s my comment. And kudos to those who help rescue pets and to the SB ladies for promoting such a great cause.
Rescue kitties are the best! Dragon, Pippa, Indy, Emma and Jazzman are proof positive at our house!
Victorian Romance? I’m in! Kitty saving? I’m in! I have 4 kitties I found as strays myself.
Our rescue kitty is curled up beside me purring as I type this!
I’m all about cats—we have two. One crochety old geezer who has to be the most irritable (and most handsome) cat there ever was. And my baby girl who is 10 now and still completely adorable and good tempered. She’s also the only other girl in the house aside from me, and well, we have to stick together, don’t we.
Go Rescue Kitties!
I <3 Rescue Kitties!
Our rescue cat, Captain Ty, agrees with about the pretty of rescue cats. Except he is handsome. Gloriously so. And so modest, too!
I just got a kitty and he is already starting to whip my dogs and I into shape. Though I will stand firm against his proposed wake up and play time of 4 am, regardless of if the dogs want to play/eat with the cat at any time.
Captcha word always95, as in I always get my animals from rescues, at least 95 out 100 times!
I have a rescue kitty, Mayhem. She is most awesome. 🙂
I have a rescue dog and used to have rescue cats. They are all most awesome!
My rescue cats and I approve.
Hello, Gracie. You are indeed very pretty. Allow me to add to the insanity.
spamword: twenty36 Hopefully we’ll get at least 2036 comments here.
I have two kitties from the local humane society. Angel is the Diva of the house and Willow well she is the boss even though she is younger than Angel…
Thanks for the giggle
Shelter cats are the greatest ones.
Miss Gracie is the beeyooteefull, and Avon is the rockstars.
Three thousand thumbs up for this venture!
Great way to raise money for an even greater charity. Thanks Liz and Avon. Hope this idea catches on with other authors and their publishers.
Who is The Pretty? YOU ARE.
(Also, Sarah, has she been watching True Blood? It sounds a bit like she may have a case of The Sookehs.)
I have never been rescued by a cat (yet)
For Teh Kitties! <3
We’ve got one at my place and though she’s quite tiny (always been the runt of the litter) she makes up for her solo-kitty status of the house and her size with sheer force of personality. The little darling is Queen of the House, our two dogs who could’ve eaten her in one bite when we got her, and Supreme Ruler over me and my family too.
This is a great cause – thanks Gracie, Sarah, and Avon!
Teh kittehs, they are the bootiful. We must saves them all!
Kittiez! I haz them. (Both adopted from no-kill shelters. Bless those dedicated humans.)
