What the Librarian Won: The Entries!

Little did I know that when I posted a contest celebrating Jennifer Lohmann’s win as Librarian of the Year from RWA, I’d set off a Photoshopping mania among librarians. Behold the entries for our contest. Jennifer and I will be picking the winner, but we are not above being swayed by your comments – so let us know which one you like the best! The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the bookstore of her choice AND will direct a $50 contribution to the library or Friends of the Library organization of her choice, plus a big ol’ box of assorted romance novels from Jennifer from the RWA National conference in Nashville. Books and book money and cold hard charitable donation cash are on the line.

So which book rocks your stacks?

  1. Ros says:

Awesome!  Obviously mine is the best, *grin*, but the one that had me laughing out loud is the last one.  The hair!  And the horse!  Fabulous.

  2. Cath Bilson says:

Oh, man. Half Human, Half Goat, All Man.
That has to take the prize, surely? Might not be the best bit of photoshopping but massively gave me the biggest giggles.

  3. Debbie Q says:

BWAHAHAHA! I have to agree that the last one, with the hair and the horses would be my pick. But the “Half Human, Half Goat, All Man” made me snort my coffee.

  4. Tina C. says:

The last one with the hair blowing in opposite directions and the horse running out of the library for no apparently reason—definitely!  I snort every time I see it!

  5. As much as I want my library to win the cash, ain’t no denying the Power of Lurrrve™ emanating from that last one.

  6. Betsy says:

Oh, man.  Way to make me snort chai out my nose with the Goat Man cover.  They’re all great, though—I can’t choose!

  7. SheaLuna says:

“Library science… it’s not just for wussies”

Totally snorted coffee over that one!

  8. Booklover1335 says:

My vote is for “Between the Stacks” 🙂

  9. Manda says:

Definitely the last one!  It doesn’t get better than windblown Fabio hair!!

  10. The last two had me laughing so hard I’m crying!

  11. How bad is it that I had to go back and look for the horse after reading the comments???  Yikes. My eyes have clearly become immune to insert-random-horse-here cover art!

  12. Carin says:

These ALL crack me up!  For me, the first one gets the best cover quote “Their love was overdue… and the fine was passion!”  But the last two win it overall for me!

  13. This are all so great!  I need to share them with the entire library foundation board at our next meeting.

  14. Oh, and my favorite was “020 is the Science of Love” for the sheer library geekiness of it.

  15. Brooks*belle says:

Secret Affair in the Stacks = Winner!!!!

Also receives the Horse and Hair Photoshop trophy

    Runners up (for me):
Long Overdue = Clever Title Award
The Librarian’s Trophy = Most Hilurbing (Hilarious + Disturbing)

  16. redcrow says:

I vote for the last one.

  17. Kathy says:

    Definitely

    The Librarian’s Trophy

.  Not only is it funny, but also fills a gap in the goat porn romance genre.

  18. All I can say is… Bitchery’s got talent!

  19. Bibliophile says:

I love the last one. That hair! That horse! The searing passion!

  20. mia says:

They’re all great, but my favorites are Between the Stacks and Secret Affair in the Stacks.  🙂

  21. Tawna Fenske says:

Since I have a cover in the competition, I’ll abstain from voting. I must say though, that these are truly humptastic! Lots of great covers to choose from. Thanks for the fun!

    Tawna

  22. Danielle says:

Gotta be the first one! I love the details (wrinkles on the cover! the sticker on the spine!), the layout’s great, and the tagline’s brilliant.

I love the reviews on the second one, too. And the random horse in the last one!

  23. Erin says:

OMG – “Long Overdue” SO wins.  Awesome.

  24. deb warner says:

I’m between Long Overdue( Can he renew their love??) and the last one with the blowing hair and totally extraneous horse.  As one of Jenn’s co-workers, I was particularly interested in this one. Her husband sure is a good sport!

  25. Castiron says:

I have to cast my official vote for LONG OVERDUE because of awesome punnage, but must also give some unofficial love to the last cover because of the hair, and to “Library science: it’s not for wussies”.

  26. Miri says:

For realism I vote for Caught in the Stacks
For WTF pile-on of awesome cliche it’s got to be Secret Affair In The Stacks
    You girls are good.

  27. Jaci Burton says:

These are all beyond awesome! The bitchery is so wicked talented. And yay for librarians!

    LONG OVERDUE has my vote.

    Well done, everyone!

  28. How to choose?  It’s not easy. But I choose Between the Stacks.

  29. teshara says:

the goat! omg LOL! Much love for the satyrs! ahahaha!!

  30. Estelle Chauvelin says:

I’ve got to go with Stacks of Love because I can’t resist a Dewey joke.

  31. Stephanie says:

Are you kidding?  Who hasn’t fantasized that her man was a ram?  Librarian’s Trophy is the only way to go…

  32. StevieB says:

OMG, that goat one is priceless! Love the hunting rifle strapped over her shoulder, and “mountin’ time” made me snork.

    These are all great!

  33. HeatherK says:

I dunno, I think Lust in the Dust (Jackets) has some funny lins on it.  I especially liked the Author of “I Know Who the Librarian Did in the Stacks Last Summer” line under the “Author” name along with the “Truly Cingeworthy” quote.

The first one looks all official like and realistic, though, and kudos on the half man/half goat dude. LOL

It’s just so darned hard to pick just one. :p

  34. HeatherK says:

LINES, funny LINES. Don’t you hate when you don’t notice a typo until it’s too late? *sigh*

And my spam words were “private74” and now it’s “hard47”. Is this thing trying to tell me something?

  35. Cynthia says:

Oh, Lord! The last two are so hilarious … but I gotta go with The Librarian’s Trophy … if nothing else because around here, there really WAS an infamous guy named The Goatman (mainly because he kept a lot of goats around AND the oh-so accessorizing smell!) and he was certainly NOT the love of any librarian’s heart!

But it’s hilarious! Thanks for the double-snort on a REALLY BAD day. Shoot, on a day like this, I could be talked into letting GoatMan take me away, so it must be like that for the librarian!

  36. Kalen Hughes says:

Ok, I think Caught in the Stacks is the best actual cover, but The Librarian’s Trophy made me shoot tea out my nose, and Secret Affair in the Stacks wins hands down for including the rare and illusive fart horse.

  37. Barb says:

OMG, how to choose?? I loved the first one—great effects with the wrinkles and the spine sticker—sooo retro and classy.  But I also loved the sooooo over-the-top cheesiness of the last one—the hair! the horse!!  Thanks for my giggle of the morning and I’m glad I’m not the one making the final decision.

spamword: seemed93.  Yes, I have mornings like yet, don’t we all.

  38. meoskop says:

VINTAGE for the WIN – Between the Stacks – I mean, C’mon, the fine was passion? Chicken dinner, dude, chicken dinner.

“It’s mountin’ time” is pretty brilliant, and the flowing hair is hilarious – but in a field of pitch perfect entries you have GOT to respect the understated brilliance of Between The Stacks – that cover would TOTALLY have worked in the late 70’s / early 80’s – even the distressing on the cover tracks.

Give it up for old school styling!

  39. PallasJay says:

    The goat one is magnificent.

  40. Jessica C says:

They are all so good!  I have to go for my gut instinct Long Overdue, though all were giggle worthy and good photo-shopping!

I love how Long had zoomed in on the original picture, but didn’t alter it much, except for the monotone.  Genius!
