Wired.com’s Geek Dad is a pretty spiffy site all about.. well, geek parenting. There’s a lot of dudes, but among the writers is one Corrina Lawson, who wrote about romance writers after the 2009 RWA Convention.
Corrina has a new column up all about writing romance, writing erotica, and what erotic romance is, exactly:
I didn’t set out to write romance novels. I set out to write stories that would relax my mind after a long day of dealing with four kids.
I’m not the sort of mom who treats herself with an afternoon of shopping or a visit to the spa. No, I’m the sort of mom who runs to my computer and makes up stories….
I want to write stories that satisfy both romance readers and SF/F readers. A tall order but it’s what I like to read myself and there’s not enough of it for those like me. I figure the attempt is worth it. I’m thrilled that today marks the public beginning of all this.
Lawson’s story, “Freya’s Gift” is on sale today (happy on sale day, Corrina!) – and mad props to Wired.com for hosting a discussion about romance, erotic romance, and geek women writers – of which we are many!
SBSarah, one thing I love about your site is when you introduce us to new sites, ideas, acronyms I can’t decipher (although I found an online dictionary that will sometimes help) and columns/writers like Corrina Lawson.
Props to both of you.
But what’s World Con?
WorldCon = the World Science Fiction Convention, the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society, where members vote on the Hugo awards.
Great post and way to go Wired!
Wow that’s awesome! – I totally would have missed it since I’m not much a wried.com follower. Thanks for pointing out the story.
Yeah, my editor was wonderful to let me do the article. I did try to target it to all the geeks girls and women out there, so it had some appeal even if you don’t want to (horrors!) read my book. 🙂
Thanks so much, Sarah, for giving Wired a shout-out.
Go , Cory !
What Jill Said. Wheeeee!!!!

I actually think there are just a a few singles that study really well from a usability place of view. Virtually of them are difficult to read /find as the conflict with the backdrop.
