I think the P and P video was the only way I’d ever allow the beloved Don Bluth (animator for Dreamworks pictures like Anastasia) to mix with Disney…. absolutely fantastic.

Fabulous! With two young girls, yes, I have all those movies. Took a bit to remember what movie Darcy came from, but yeah, got that one, too. I might just have to talk the girls into watching Anastasia this weekend – lurve me some John Cusack, even animated.

What movie is Mr. Darcy from? I know everyone else’s movie but I just can’t place him. I was leaning toward the Beast post-transformation from Beauty and the Beast but he didn’t have that many scenes once he was a man, did he?
The Brokeback Mountain was my favorite. I wish they had used the voices from the BBC P&P instead of the newer one though.
Darcy is from Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World. The character is John Rolfe.
I love this! And I agree with the first comment: you can’t beat the BBC version. The Keira Knightley one just feels like Cliffs Notes in comparison.
Also, the Hercules clips managed to do the impossible and make Twilight look sorta neat! (not that I haven’t *koff* read all the books. Cuz I have. But hey, I work for a teen magazine, and I need to stay on top of all the cultural whatnot…)

Does anyone know who “Anne Hathaway” is? It kind of looks like Marina, but I’m not sure. I don’t remember an eagle in her scenes.
“Anne Hathaway” is from Quest for Camelot, put out by Warner Brothers in 1998.

Ok, I have to ask: who is the “Heat(h) Ledger” character in the Brokeback Mountain trailer? I can’t place him in a Disney movie, but he reminds me of Rodrigo in the Spanish animated film “El Cid: la Leyenda” (
), one of those annoying movies that is just good enough that you can’t write it off, in spite of all that’s wrong with it (the blatant racism of the over-the-top villain; the transformation of Jimena – who is tough and regal and truly a medieval Smart Bitch – into a generic Spunky Girl Heroine; the weird ending).
Off-topic: when is someone going to write a GOOD romance in English about Rodrigo and Jimena? Preferably about their MARRIED life? Come on, how hard can it be to write romantic suspense about conquering a province and surviving murderous royal politics? 😉

You know what, I’m actually quite surprised there hasn’t been an animated version of P&P. Hell, we’ve had TV and big screen and Bollywood and modern-day and even zombies. Why not reach a new audience? The Beeb did animated Shakespeare when I was a kid, and some of them were pretty good (of course, some were just weird).
I liked the P&P one the best, but was mildly confused to hear the Love Actually soundtrack. The KK/MM film had a beautiful soundtrack all of its own. I wondered if it was a rights issue, but then the Brokeback trailer had the right (and lovely) music.
