DA BWAHA Recently Asked Questions

Jane and I have received a few email messages and some questions about the 2010 DABWAHA so she and I drew up a brief FAQ to answer them. Feel free to ask if you’re confused about anything!

Q.  Who picked the books?

A.  Sarah and Jane did with some help from Jane’s blogging mates

Q:  Why isn’t X book on there?

A:  We don’t know but probably because there were so many good books, it was hard to cull down to just 8 per category.

Q:  Why does the Bracket have abbreviated titles and no author names?

A:  The software has a character limitation and so we are only allotted so much space.  You may want to print out the printable finalist lists to help you discern the title of each book with the author.

Q:  Can I submit more than one bracket?

A:  We ask that you don’t.  We will have a second chance tournament.

Q:  Can I resubmit my bracket choices?

A:  Yes, anytime until Wednesday at 8 pm, EST.

Q:  I’m trying to tell people to vote for me – but they can’t find where to vote! What’s going on?

A:  Voting hasn’t started yet. Voting begins on Wednesday on polls that will run on the DABWAHA Blog.

Right now, people are selecting their brackets – who they think will win each round until Book of the Year is selected.

So, show of hands, who has read all of those books?

Dammit, I think this requires internet research.

I just want to thank Jane and Sarah and all others involved.  I’ve been looking forward to this since my calendar turned to March and I thought – March Madness!!  by which meant I was thinking of DABWAHAHAHA.

And I haven’t read all the books.  When in doubt, I do like I do when I’m filling out the basketball grid – I pick whoever has a cooler name(title) or cooler uniforms(cover).  This is a bright spot in my spring break*.

*And by “spring break” I mean “my 3 elementary school kids home from school and despite my wonderfully planned activity-full days moping around complaining that they are bored”

You’ve probably answered this somewhere and i’m blind and simply can’t see it.  (That’s the way it usually works anyway.)  Are there any geographic restrictions on the contest and its prizes?

  4. Phyllis says:

Can I just say that I must have become a historical junkie, because I hardly recognize a lot of the books, but Region 3 is IMPOSSIBLE to choose from?
