Friday Videos say Mazel Tov

What do you get when you mix Hebrew, a Korean boy band, Auto-Tune, and some very funky choreography? WTF-eyecandy.

ETA: I”m so sorry that video is somehow private. Here, have a more different version of the same song.

The marvelous Booklust says that Koreans love boy bands, and that “It’s pretty common for Korean pop bands to use English in their songs, but not other languages.”

You can watch the full music video here: Mazel tov!

I wonder when the sequel, “L’chaim,” comes out?

  1. Lauren says:

    Thanks, Black Eyed Peas.

    ::hattip::

  2. Sadness. The video says it’s private and I have to accept a friend request to watch it. That’s a new one to me.

  3. Tina C. says:

It wants to be friends with me, too.  Until then, no singing or dancing boys for me.

  4. Oh…My…Dog…

This is one of those times where I really feel guilty about cultural imperialism. We inflicted boybands upon the world; no wonder they hate us. /jk

BTW, I went to youtube and saw the video just fine.

  5. Michelle W says:

Those boys wear more make up than I do!  I wonder if they will share their eye makeup tips. “-)

  6. Tae/Booklust says:

yeah, you can’t link on the picture of the video, but on the link below it.

It’s weird, but I just realized that there are almost no bands in Korea where people play their own music.  All the boy/girl bands were fabricated by the record industry.  There are at least 8-10 boys very popular boy bands in Korea, plus another 8-10 very popular girl bands, plus I’m certain many more that I just haven’t heard of.

    :: blink blink ::
Holy crap, how good do I have to be to get that under my Xmas tree?

I claim Mr. ‘Loves His Hair Dryer Way too Much!!’

  8. Randi says:

    Holy Androgeny, Batman!

  9. Wendy says:

I love gratuitous English in Asian pop.  This takes it many steps higher.
    Awesome.

  10. Tien says:

AWESOME!  My kids are Chewish and i can just imagine my boys doing this song in a few years at their Bar Mitzvah!  MAZEL TOV!

  11. K.C. says:

    They’re so… pretty?

Did anyone see the guy with the “snarl face”?

  12. I’m just…wow. I can’t even think. That’s a lot of makeup and hair dye and…
Geez. Am blinded by the hairless chests. HALP.

  13. Lisa Hendrix says:

Me, too, with the private/gotta be friends thing. And I really could stand stand some hairless chests right now (sitting in a coffee shop surrounded by hairy old guys on Medicare who don’t believe in the damn gummit gettin’ into the healthcare bizness…).  Guess I’ll just crank up the white noise instead.

  14. SB Sarah says:

I’m sorry about that. I’ve added another version – it’s just epic win, this song. If it is performed at bar or bat mitzvahs, I hope to hell there’s video rolling.

Sorry about the changed privacy settings. My bad.

  15. JamiSings says:

Are you sure that’s a boy band? Some of the members look like girls.

  16. saranicole says:

Man, I miss Korea.  Looks like things have gotten REALLY interesting in the 9 years since I was there…  I get the one with the Vulcan do.

  17. Kelly S says:

Wow!  Um, so what’s up with the things on the hands?  Anyone?  Also, flashing back to hammertime with those pants.  But they are pretty boys aren’t they!  Flexible too.  Does the band consist of all of them or are there like 5 main ones and the rest are back up dancers?  Thanks for the candy.

  18. Nothing says Good Shabbas like a … dancing Korean Boy Band.  Love it!

Or did you mean this as a “I’m feeling such nachas!” message for gold medal winning Korean figure skater Kim Yu-Na?

  19. Susan/DC says:

    @moviemavengal:
Exactly what I was thinking—mazel tov to Kim Yu-Na for her almost perfect score and gold medal win.

Spamword:  husband86—I don’t need 86 husbands, but I do hope I keep the one I’ve got now until I’m 86.

  20. Renae says:

    Oh my awesomesauce.

  21. Sally says:

Are those harem pants they’re wearing?!

  22. Kathy says:

I love Asian/Malaysian men.  Well, these look like boys.  And how many boys can you cram in one band?  I had a psychic tell me that my spiritual guide was an Asian woman.  But then I go and marry a big German red head.  TMI?  hehe.

  23. Mariana says:

? Korean Boy Bands! I like ZE:A but there are sexier ones…

  24. Tiffany M. says:

    I

<3 Asian boy bands! Super Junior!

Some of the girl bands are pretty good, too!  Wonder Girls are addictive.

  25. beggar1015 says:

How ironic. I just finished reading Nothing To Envy by Barbara Demick, about life in North Korea where underwear and socks are a hard commodity to come by, and then there’s… this going on just across the border in South Korea. Worlds apart.

And yes, what were those things on all of their hands? Scrunchies?

  26. mingqi says:

I’m a big fan of korean pop music, though not really of that boyband ZE:A.  they’re still rookies in the kpop industry.  they didn’t really debut until last month.

and Kelly S, all 9 guys are in ZE:A.  which is like nothing compared to the 13-member korean boyband, Super Junior )

  27. Stelly says:

Oh my K-Pop.  My Korean friends like to poke fun at me for my love affair with it.

They are very pretty, eh?  Yum!

  28. Tae/Booklust says:

Mariana> I agree, i think DBSK is my favorite, and I like Super Junior better than Big Bang – lately I’ve been addicted to watching the Sorry Sorry video.
