My Bad, You Win: A Samhain Giveaway

So last night, I made a tool of myself. Today: you profit from my being a butthead. Hooray!

Last night I was ticked off and cranky and the icing on my small torte of pissypants was that a book I’ve been wanting to buy, Lorelei James’ All Jacked Up, was unavailable still. The Amazon page says that because I’m in the US, I’m not able to buy the book – and I got all indignant and shoved my head up my ass on Twitter (SO amazing how easy it is to do that! Whee!) and thought the problem resided with Samhain.

Lindsey Faber from Samhain kindly emailed me last night to say the problem is with Amazon (THE DEVIL YOU SAY) and while they’ve made requests that the geographic restrictions be corrected, Amazon has not taken care of it. (It is nice, I must say, to have cranio-rectal impacted company, though Amazon isn’t always my first choice for benchmate).

I apologized on Twitter – and I apologize here, as well. I’m sorry.

And for my humble pie (Mmm, pie), you win!

Samhain is giving away 10 books to 10 winners to make up for the fact that Amazon (and I) are in the penalty box for the time being. Just leave a comment with your preferred geographic location OUTSIDE the US (where you’d be able to buy the digital books you want) and you’re entered to win a copy of one of the currently blocked books from Amazon:

Book CoverBook CoverBook Cover

We’ll pick 10 winners, and those chosen will receive a copy of the book of their choice from that list in the format of their choice, all without DRM or geographic restrictions. Ready, set, go – you’ve got 24 hours.

Me? I’d like to be in Spain. Because currently, it’s siesta time there. And I need a nap after this helping of shamefaced humble pie. (Mmm. Pie.)

I’d love to be in Ireland.  It’s always perfect reading weather there: gray and misty.

I’d like to be in Italy, eating some good food and reading All Jacked Up. Thanks.

China. Because in China right now it’s almost bed time, which means its the perfect time to curl up with a good book. (And the food there is excellent!)

    Babs says:

Well, I am currently living in Poland so that would be the practical choice…but if I had my preference it would be Scotland ‘cause ya know, men in kilts have always been and still are my weakness.

    Oh, Italy for me!

I love Turks and Caicos .  Laying on a beach with turquoise waters and warm sunshine. Sigh.  So much better than MI.  (It was between any warm tropical place (Cancun took 2nd place) and Paris due to Eloisa James tweets.)

    Sewicked says:

Put me down for Scotland; you’ve got the lovely misty weather (perfect for a cup of tea & a hot book), plus castles & kilts.

Oh yeah, Scotland it would be…

I’d love very much to be in Taiwan right now. I miss my relatives there… and the city life.

Put me in a castle in Ireland in front of a roaring fire with lots of free time to read.  That could be heaven :)

Brazil since they’re always celebrating Carnivale (the movies say so – it must be true!). Kinda like it’s always Dia de los Muertos when the hero needs to disappear into a crowd in Mexico.

    Rachel Thomas says:

It’s definitely cold and misty in England today. I have been looking out for All Jacked Up. Lovely to have it on offer.

I’m currently not permitted to travel anywhere w/o the spouse-creature because men in kilts, or who have big swords or accents, or really broad shoulders and sharp teeth promptly cause a flare up of a disease I have that is known as Turtle Syndrome. Flair ups involve falling on my back and getting stuck here, just like a turtle. Hence the name.

But if I could go… I’ve got an obsession with Venice right now.

Italy…I want to go back to Italy.

    JoAnne K says:

I’m a Welshy, born and bred, but that’s the last place I wanna be right. Minnesota winter is drawing close—get me outta here and into somewhere sunny, hot and beachy.

I think, right about now, I would love to be back in Australia, on Cronulla Beach body surfing in the cool, salty water—hunky lifeguards to ogle at, with the husband off fetching me a yummie ice-cream :o)

SQUASH. Yup, that was my day dream being squashed. I glanced out the window and saw the frost settled on the grass. Bummer.

    JenK says:

If I’m going to go anywhere, it’s going to be some place warm. Some place with a beach and clean, clear water. Some place where I can lay on said beach and drink in the sun and forget that it is currently 38degrees at home.
Send me to the Bahamas. Give me a tall, cold drink and then leave me alone with my book.

    Maggie P. says:

Norway! I love those crazy Vikings, and with the whole arctic circle thing in northern Norway it is dark, cold and time to be cheered with a good book.

    Kendra says:

New Zealand –  That’s where I want to be.  The mountain ranges as seen in LoTR are absolutely stunning, would love to see them in person.

  20. 20

I’d be up for another visit to Scotland. Or Wales.  I’m in a UK sort of mood.

  21. 21

I’d love to be in Japan right now since I’m craving sushi like nobody’s business…

(Don’t include me in the giveaway, I just bought and glommed and totally enjoyed my copy of All Jacked Up.)

  22. 22
    Kathryn says:

Australia.  Where there is a lot of space, and not many people to bug me while I’m trying to read.

  23. 23
    Barbara says:

Put me down for Italy. One of these days I’m going to go meet the rest of my relatives there.

  24. 24
    Jessie Potts says:

Who can resist Alpha Males in Kilts and bare chested (yes I know it’s rather cold this time of year… but alphas don’t care right!!!) no one that’s who! Give me Scotland any day of the week!  Not to mention the Fay… yummmmm

I would find myself Adam Black (KMM) and steal him… or maybe Cian McKelter he’s a definite hottie, oh there are so many men from so many authors… I’ll take a few!

  25. 25

    Sarah,

You kickin’ your own ass with your pink boots today? (ooh look, Lorelei dropped the ‘g’ in that phrase, drives you crazy, don’t it?)

See, I’m surprised you didn’t say South Dakota because we are as foreign as another country to most people

    Cool contest :)

Never been, but Turks and Caicos sounds really good right now.

I’m just starting a possible story idea based in Beirut – so put me down for Lebanon.  (It’s “explosive” romance, I promise!)

    deirdre says:

I’d like to be somewhere sunny right now, and there was a bit of sun that shone through the grey today in Ireland but still Novembers in Ireland can be quite hard to work through.

Hmm, somewhere sunny. The Philippines, a quiet island, and diving :).

The weather in Norway is cold and gloomy today :(
