Chris sent me this jaw-dropping amazing video that’s a feast for the ears, the brain, the eyes and the imagination: “We Are All Connected” was made from sampling Carl Sagan’s Cosmos, The History Channel’s Universe series, Richard Feynman’s 1983 interviews, Neil deGrasse Tyson’s cosmic sermon, and Bill Nye’s Eyes of Nye Series.
Dude. Awesome. May you have a weekend full of wonderment.
Cool.
You can add Ray & Charles Eames “Power of Ten” movie to the credits, also. Really inspiring. Thanks.
Oh, wow.
That’s amazing!
That was amazing!
So becoming my anthem!
The universe is awesome.
I miss Carl.
As someone who faithfully watched Cosmos, its amazing to see Sagan’s poetry of science regenerated in such a contemporary and effective way. (Oops. I’m geeking out.)
Here’s another one along those lines, featuring Sagan and Stephen Hawking:
BTW, Feynman is a secondary character—of sorts—in Elizabeth Bear’s Hammered.
Oops. Geeking out again. Can’t help it. I’m surrounded by mathematicians and computer geeks in my day-to-day life. My spouse, in partcular, read Kuzweil last year for pleasure reading!
I may… MAY… be a nerd. But that made me cry.
My Mother is dying, I really needed this video. Thank you.
Sympathies, Leslie H! Wishing you strength in this difficult time.
I teared up too, Jennifer. I think the refrain is absolutely gorgeous, and if someone ever asked me for an example of transcendence that doesn’t reference a religious belief, this video would be a viable candidate.
Wishing you and your family peace, Leslie.
This made me smile. Sagan is a peripheral character – of sorts – in my 2009 Golden Heart finalist, UNDERBELLY, as well.
My sympathy Leslie H. I’m glad this was comforting to you like it has been for me.
that was fantastic.
um, that was pretty amazing. thanks for sharing it!
okay, i’m going to go watch that again.
Glorious. Thank you.
@Leslie
I hope many a comfort comes your way and that you find strength as you endure.
If anybody’s interested in downloading the songs or the videos, they’re available free at the Symphony of Science website!
I loved these so hard.
Not only is this incredibly catchy, but it takes me back to my fascination with science when I was a kid. There’s just something about those late seventies/early eighties science programs, like Nova and 3-2-1 Contact…
If you’ll excuse me, I now feel compelled to go reread some Feynman.
Here’s vid set Carl reading some of my favorite bits of his writing”
((teary smile)) Oh, thank you!
Thanks to all for the good thoughts!
