From Barbara:

This was in the comments of another entry awhile back, but if you missed it then, you’re not neglected. This video, much like Scotch itself, should be enjoyed responsibly.

I assume the (presumed) Scots wore the traditional underwear under their kilts.

    .
    .
    .
    (That is … none)

(I am nor sure if that would be scary or heartening.  VEG)

  2. KStevenson says:

God, I love Scots.  That’s why I married one.  He wore a kilt at our wedding but I made him wear tartan boxers underneath because the women of my family couldn’t be trusted. =)

  3. Zoe Archer says:

    Scotch Eggs for breakfast.

  4. Z_Bruce says:

It’ll be interesting to see what the Maori make of that advert when they notice it (There’s been a lot of annoyance here at advertising agencies co-opting the haka lately.)

  5. Ashley Ladd says:

I could get drunk watching those handsome men without the Scotch.

  6. Librariahn says:

LOVE the choice of “shirtless, long haired, handsome & built” guys for the Scots…looks like they got most of ‘em off the covers of the Highland MacRomances!

BTW, did the first team look intimidated…or utterly turned on? Perhaps this was the All Gay Rugby tournament…

  7. Lil' Deviant says:

    *puurrrrrrrr*

  8. Stelly says:

    Haha!

  9. Joanna S. says:

I know where I’d love to lick that wonderful scotch off of…

    I’m just sayin’.

    YUM!

  10. Zoe Archer says:

I may rethink my position on sports.

  11. Grace says:

    You said “position.”  Ahahahhaha… sigh.

  12. Lisa richards says:

Oh my God! My eyes just crossed! And that’s just from my visual imagination

  13. Mary G says:

Well – it’s definitely the most interesting response to the Haka I’ve seen 🙂  Beats trying to look bored and unimpressed (my team’s usual response)!

However… Tonga’s rival Sipi Tau is pretty good!

    Testosterone much?

  14. Loved it!  But then, that’s one of the reasons I have Scottish heroes in my books.

  15. Shiny says:

    @Mary G … MOAR!

Ah Testosterone, what a great hormone. Am I the only woman suckered in by macho displays of maleness? Probably not. As a hardcore feminist in real life I sure don’t like to advertise the fact. 😉 People think I’m a hypocrite or something but srsly, who can really control their politically incorrect turn-ons?

  16. PK says:

I was thinking the same thing.  But you gotta admit—it’s an awesome commercial.  Loved it!!

  17. ev says:

    mmmmmmmmm……………….

  18. MamaNice says:

I love this whole series of commercials…love ‘em.

  19. Elise Logan says:

*sigh* I love that commercial. I adore the haka, so the first part of the commercial made me happy all by itself. then… BONUS!

  20. ebonyjewelwing says:

Through all of my high school years I never found the typical jock-boys all that impressive: Hockey players, Football players, etc.  And then I went to school for a while in New Zealand. The rugby boys would do the Haka and, well, DAMN.

Now I am kinda wishing I went to school in Scotland.

  21. Meggrs says:

Heh. I don’t understand a damn thing about rugby, but I gotta love the fact that it seems to be the only organized international sport where the teams are encouraged to line up and taunt each other prior to kickoff.

I could watch that part over and over. 🙂

  22. dillene says:

Have the long-haired Scotsman in the front there bathed and brought to my chambers.

  23. Mama Nice says:

I played rugby in college, I was the position called the “hooker.” heh-heh

When we’d line up that before setting up for a scrum, insults and posturing would often fly…even with us chicks.

  24. SonomaLass says:

    Sigh.  What a nice treat.

I got my oldest son a kilt for his birthday—he insists on going “traditional” underneath. So far he has learned about crossing his legs whilst sitting and standing near people with shiny shoes.

  25. At the risk of being demonized by our New Zealand PC brigade—who are most distressingly active wherever the haka is concerned—this Kiwi gal just has to say…
    AWESOME!
I’m loving my Scottish heritage all of a sudden 😉

  26. Suze says:

Have the long-haired Scotsman in the front there bathed and brought to my chambers.

    BWA!  That was aweseome!

  27. Elisa J says:

Now see, that just gets me hankering to return to NZ or make a trip to Scotland.  I loved the Haka but I think the NZ team could’ve been shown sexier.  The Scots still would’ve won, I think.  I just think we were deprived of more sexy. 🙂
