TweetCamp at Booksquare University

One of the things I am most interested in is the online education potential for authors, readers, reviewers, and all them publishing type folks who are curious about how to use Twitter, Facebook, blogs, mySpace, podcasting, etc. for online marketing and publicity. Booksquare University has positioned itself perfectly to offer online workshops on how to use key tools for online promotion, starting with Tweet Camp.

The video introducing TweetCamp is fantastic, particularly because it cuts through the media hype in the first two minutes, and asks those curious about Twitter to look at it in a new way: “What if it wasn’t a contest to see who had the most followers? What if it was the best cocktail party you’d ever been to?”

The TweetCamp online workshop is available at Booksquare University, and you can sign up now.

Side note: Can Kirk Biglione read some audiobooks please?

This is fabulous. It totally explains my aversion to Twitter—-I hate cocktail parties.

Good video ! I have a blast on twitter. Twitter makes the interwww smile.
There are a lot of positives, I’ve read books I otherwise may not ever have heard of. I’ve talked to people I KNOW I would never have had the opportunity to talk to. I have laughed cocacola out of my nose and eyeballs. It’s FUN!
The only negative is my blog reading/ commenting has gone way down because I’m content watching the tweets go by lol. BUT in my defense, a lot of the bloggers posting has gone down too ( my own included) because twitter keeps everyone occupied, there have been some very VERY good conversations on many topics. Also, I’ve noticed a lot of blog topics such as this one are inspired by twitter conversations and topics. So if you’re not tweeting yet, get on it before it gets ruined by new “features” and restrictions.  I’m twitter.com/rebyj feel free to add me.

I must be slow because I don’t have a clue how many followers I have.  To me, Twitter is the water cooler conversation I miss from the law firm days.  Whoever happened to be in the coffee room at the time, we’d chat for a few, then get back to work.  The cocktail party analogy doesn’t work as well for me, because I rarely only pop into a party for a minute or two, leave, then go back for a few minutes an hour later, etc.  LOVE having plenty of interesting people to tweet with at all hours of day and night.  I’ve said it before, but Twitter is insomniac’s DREAM.
