Where My Bitches At?

It’s another two weeks of nonstop travel and fun for both me and Candy. WOO!

12 May—Today! : Sarah is speaking at the IPDF Digital Book 2009 conference. I think the hashtag is either #db09 or #idpf. I hate when there’s two and I have to use both.

Angie James from Samhain Publishing will be speaking at 1:15 on eBook Business Models and the role of DRM. I’m on at 3:15 as part of the panel on “Confessions of an eReadaholic – What Consumers Really Want.” My presentation, which was built in PowerPoint with the help of everyone on Twitter, features Comic Sans (not), Wingdings (also not), excessive animation between slides (not), pictures of Edward (not), and LOLCats (maybe). It describes the ideal device, ebook, and ebookstore – again, with the majestic help of everyone on Twitter – that we digital readers would like to have, and asks that publishers, bookstores, and device designers remember to include the readers in the increasing development of the digital publishing world.

Unfortunately, I can’t head over there until about lunchtime, but tune in to Ye Olde Twitter for updates and soundbites from the conference. In the morning, you can follow Angie James – I’m pretty sure she’ll be Tweeting up a storm.

Also today: at 7:00 pm I’ll be at the Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair NJ: Bosoms! Bosoms in the library!

13 May: Candy will be at the Barnes & Noble in Tukwila, Washington, for a booksigning and festive merriment at 7:00 pm.

15 May: Candy will be at the Rediscovered Bookshop, 7079 Overland Road in Boise, ID—I have heard SO many great things about this bookstore. I wish I were going!

This weekend I’m in DC for the Washington Romance Writers’ meeting. I’m speaking with Nora Roberts in the morning, and then in the afternoon it’s a crash-course in everything you need to know about blogging (starting with the fact that you don’t have to have one if you don’t want to).

Next week, I’ll be in Iowa – yes, Iowa – for a library event in Carroll on the 19th, and a party in Des Moines on the 20th. I hear Jane from Dear Author might be there. I’m going to stalk her through the cornfields and keep my ear to the ground for any kernels of information I might find. (Ok, I’ll stop now).

Travel is exhausting, but I have to say, I absolutely love meeting the different people who read our site, so if you’re planning to come to one of our events, thank you.

I think I might be a wee bit jealous of your La Nora meeting. I imagine there’s a level of that that is a tad surreal. It would be for me.

I was thinking about joining you – yes, again – at the Montclair Library event to give you mad props and another body in the room, but my servitude to The Man has me working late tonight, so it looks like I’ll miss it! Picture sad me because I know it will be awesome!

Read well and prosper! (Sorry, I still have Star Trek residue in my head from seeing the flick this weekend.)

  2. Thanks for keeping us all informed, and for being our voice to the publishers and designers! I’m sure the presentation will go beautifully, with or without Edward making his sullen/intense vampire face between slides.

  3. Nicole says:

Yours truly, your Iowa stalker, will be there for the party.

  4. Marski says:

    When are you dune daBurgh?

  5. ms bookjunkie says:

Will you be at the Book Expo America, New Yawk Citeh, May 28th-31st?

Booth 3159 is the BeBook booth. I’m hoping for reports on the BeBook2 specifically, but wouldn’t mind info on the BeBook Mini and BB1 while you’re there. Video cam, you has it?

Anyone going? This is an ereader with wifi (BB2, that is—BB1 is adding wifi in about 6 months) and I need to know if it’s the one for me… *sob*

Sorry to sound so desperate. I blame sleep deprivation, as well as—desperation! Sorry also about the thread hijack.

  6. KellyMaher says:

And my alter ego’s butt will be right there next to Nicole’s in DSM! Woo and a hoo!!! (But not the mighty hoo-hoo.)

  7. Reacher Fan says:

Tell Angie James to go hire some better editors and proofreaders.  Ebooks should NOT have so many grammatical, homophones, and spelling errors.

  8. Caryle says:

    Looking forward to the 20th!

  9. The lolcats part intrigued me.. It sounds like it might worth a look/listen. I’d love to hear more, I hope I’ll make it there.

  10. Bonnie C says:

lolcats are an excellent choice for any rpresentation – bravo!

Do you or Candy have any plans to come the the Los Angeles basin on the Bosom Tour? That would be beyawesome – especially if you could make it together. 😀

Tell your publisher to put you guys on a plane. Seriously. I would pay to see that.

  11. hi,
