Bright and early tomorrow morning, I’ll be hopping in the Prius (gets better gas milage than my car) and heading southwest to the fine, windy roads of Boonsboro, Maryland, to take part in the Turn the Page Bookstore WRW Pre-Retreat Signing from 11 am until 2pm. I’ll be signing copies of the Bosoms (the book, not my own), along with Nora Roberts, J D Robb, P. C. & Kristin Cast, Susan Donovan, Mary Blayney, Darlene Gardner, Donna Kauffman, Sally MacKenzie, Michelle Monkou, Sophia Nash, Carla Neggers, Kathleen Gilles Seidel, Michelle Willingham & Rebecca York.
Stay tuned all day Friday for much Twittering as I road trip across New Jersey and Pennsylvania into Maryland. I’m still looking for an mp3 of a book to listen to, since I know that north of Harrisburg there’s a distinct lack of good radio stations that stay well-tuned for more than an hour. I’ll try to answer your burning questions like, ‘How many people will show up to have Nora sign their book?’ and ‘Is it really warm in the bookstore with that many people inside?’
That night, I’ll be staying – and this literally makes me squee like you have NO idea – at the Inn Boonsboro in the Elizabeth and Darcy room. I’ll probably use up the whole GB memory card in my camera taking pictures of the room.
The next day, Saturday 18 April, I’ll be heading to Doylestown to do a reading and signing at the Doylestown Bookshop, at 1:00 pm (16 South Main Street, Doylestown, PA). I know the staff at the bookshop read the site, and I know some Bitchery members are planning to make the trip. I’m looking forward to meeting you guys!
So if you see a randomly laughing and/or sniffling woman in a Prius heading through Pennsylvania Friday or Saturday, it’s probably me listening to a romance novel.
What’re you going to listen to???
have fun and drive carefully! Wish i could go see you guys but i don’t think hubby would want me to take another road trip this soon! LOL

This is me mashing my keyboard in frustration because I am on the road tomorrow myself, headed in a general southerly direction from Pennsylvania, but BOONSBORO IS TOO FAR OUT OF MY WAY WHEN I’M SUPPOSED TO BE GOING TO HUNTINGTON WV TO LOOK FOR A PLACE TO LIVE.
hmph. *pout* I wonder how long a detour would take….
Yo, Sarah, drive safe! I’ll see you tomorrow.
Oh, take note of the stained glass shade on the floor lamp in your room at the inn. My Pop made it.
Have fun! Watch out for any cow patties in Penn.
Now I am utterly and completely terrified in fear of going ANYWHERE NEAR this lamp, lest my klutzy ass break it.
I FEAR THE LAMP.
Expect pics of said lamp from at least 30 feet away, folks. Oy.
Are you signing in Pittsburgh at all? Where is your tour info? 🙂
My tour schedule so far is here:
Booktour.com
I’m trying to figure out if a trip to Pixburg is in the stars (and the budget omg).
I downloaded and read BHB on my Kindle last night. Although I thought it was hysterically funny, I do wish I had bought the paper version due to the inadequacy of most of the illustrations. The make-your-own-romance section also was pretty much useless on the Kindle. Perhaps you could post a warning of the drawbacks of the Kindle version?
Damn. I’m not far from Doylestown but my Saturday is already filled to capacity with riding and golf lessons, committee meetings and a cocktail party that will require my advanced primping skills.
Damn again. I’ll wave as you cruise by and miss the fun all the while…
church88: yes, my committee meetings are at church. How on earth does this thing *do* that and can I get it to predict lottery numbers?
Agh! If I weren’t working tomorrow I’d totally be there in Boonsboro! Well, hope you have an awesome trip.
mp3 of a book? I’ve been listening to SEP’s books while I’m doing some painting (of rooms, not portraits) at my house. The time FLIES by.
Have fun on your road trip. I hope you sell lots of books, too!
oooooooo-I think I can make it to the Doylestown signing. WOOT!
I want to stay in the Inn Boonsboro! I love the Jane and Rochester room. I’m just going to stay for the night…in each room, too nice.
There’s an Elizabeth and Darcy room???!! Will await your photos with great anticipation and much envy… Have a wonderful time :).
Elaine, you have raised the point that always strikes me as a likely drawback of electronic readers (we don’t have the Kindle here, but I have had a good look at the Sony models). Most adult fiction does not have pictures, but there are plenty of popular genres of adult leisure reading that generally do, e.g. biographies and popular history, and I should have thought that a really good e-book reader should be able to show line illustrations and half-tones well. Of course, their small page size, which is one of the things that makes these devices so tempting, also militates against good reproduction of illustrations.
Sarah: have a lovely book tour! My copy of Bosoms is on order: I was hoping I’d get it before going away on an Aged Parent visit this weekend, but alas, unless it comes early tomorrow morning, I shall be without it. I was looking forward to reading it on the train, thereby causing some raised eyebrows amongst the other passengers.
I’ll see you in Doylestown! Can’t be there exactly at one (charity walk in the AM), but soon after I hope.
Shall I bring donuts? Bagels? Vodka?
If I promise to make them heave will you sign my actual bosoms in addition to my book in D’town on Saturday? 😉
@IL#2 Your wife would kick my ass.
What a fabulous tour AND you get to stay at The Inn. You’ll have a great time.
Here’s my list of top however-many audio books:
Natural Born Charmer, SEP
Summerland, Michael Chabon
Hot Target, Suzanne Brockmann
Lamb, Christopher Moore
Fool, Christopher Moore
*Insert Title Here*, Christopher Moore
Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Steig Larsson
The Eyre Affair, Jasper Fforde
Any Harry Potter title read by Jim Dale
Dead Until Dark, Charlaine Harris
To Say Nothing of the Dog, Connie Willis
Aw, man, how I would LOVE to go to that signing in Boonsboro!!!
I am so envious!!! First, for getting to stay at Nora’s Inn and second, next week you’ll be at RT. I wish I was closer to either place, I would be there in a heartbeat. Have a great time on tour!
I love Kathleen Gilles Seidel. Tell her I worship at her feet. Or would if I ever met her. No, don’t tell her that. I don’t want her to find out too early that I am Kathy Bates-like in my adoration for her writing. Let’s keep this on the downlow.
Just tell her I think I’ve read her books and that she sounds like a good writer. Yes, that sounds normal and sane enough to mask my inappropriate girlish adoration.
Save me a copy of your book! I’ll see you there.
It is so much FUN. Best signing in the world. 🙂
Why on a Friday in the middle of the day! I have to work and I’m only 30 minutes away!!!!!!
Guess it wasn’t meant to be. :*(
Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb are both listed as being at the signing? Is that anything like having Clark Kent and Superman in the same room? (That is, if Superman and Clark Kent both had powers.)
Jessica – Only 30 minutes away – can’t you take a late lunch? Claim a doctor’s appt? Migraine? Cramps??? Unless you yourself are actually going to be performing surgery or arguing a death penalty case in court isn’t there *any* way you can slip away for a bit??
I’m much too far from any of the action to get a live view, but if I were you better believe I’d be there.
(Note: I will not be held liable for any of the above advice in the event that anyone should follow it and be caught by their respective bosses)
