The DA BWAHA 2008

imageIt’s DABWAHA TIME folks! This year, the bracket tournament of books has it’s own site, so check it out. If you’re not familiar with it, the rules are simple: we have picked a slate of 64 books in 8 categories. Starting on March 15, you will be able to select the books you think will win in competition, advancing through the rounds until we arrive at Book of the Year. Brackets must be completed by 11:00 pm EST on March 18, 2009. Voting will start March 19, 2009, and will follow as closely as possible that other March tournament, the one with the basketball (Go North Dakota State!).

Then, voting begins! Polls will be hosted on the DABWAHA.com site (don’t worry, we’ll give you a heads up on SBTB and DA when they go up) so you can vote for your choices.

There will be prizes for the best bracket in each of the rounds, and all the details, including the grand prize for the winning bracket and the winning author are at dabwaha.com.

Note: if you already registered, we had a bit of a glitch with the software, so you will have to re-register.

But here’s the best part! Harlequin is so excited about their nominated books they’ve created a special store at eHarlequin to celebrate. Everything in that special store is 30% off with the coupon code ‘MADROMANCE’ – and you can click one button to add every book to your cart.

If you want paper copies, you can visit our Amazon.com store. Stay tuned for more buying options, and, of course, the start of the tourney bracket selection. Big huge heaping thanks to our sponsors: Sony, Harlequin, Sam Hain Publishing, and Fictionwise.

  1. Jodie says:

Hiya I tried registering but the box wouldn’t let me type all my picks in – can I just e-mail them to you?

  2. SB Sarah says:

You can’t make your picks until March 15. Right now we’re revealing the nominees. Bracket selection begins the 15th.

  3. JoanneL says:

Holy contest batgirl, that dabwaha .com site looks really excellent!

I’ve forgotten… nothing new there… do we register with the names we use on this board or in real life or in our modeling careers ((har!) or what?

  4. LDH says:

Congratulations on the site being so purdy and getting so many sponsors for this year’s contest!

I wouldn’t cross the street to see a sports game, but come DABWAHA time, I get excited!

  5. StacieH4 says:

Heck yeah, go Bison!!  North Dakota State is my alma mater and to be in the tournament after only their first year in Division 1 is a big deal.  Woo-hoo.  And the DA BWAHA is about to start….woo-hoo again!

  6. Bekcy says:

Wow, I’ve read 11 of the nominees.  For me, that’s pretty good!

  7. Just out of interest, are any of the titles African American romances?

  8. Jane says:

at Joanne L – use whatever name you want people to see.

  9. Tasha says:

Can you please rename your GLBT category? As far as I can tell, it is solely m/m, and I think it’s a bit offensive (not to mention misleading) to imply that lesbians are in any way represented.

If I’m mistaken I apologize, but a quick glance at all the story synopses showed them to be m/m, with one possible m/m/f.

  10. Silver James says:

Okay. I’m a total idiot but I can’t figure out how to register. Help a bitch out someone who’s figured it out?

yes72 – Yes. I am an idiot at least 72 times a day.

  11. JoanneL says:

@Silver…. On the Rules/Prizes page the form to register is toward the bottom. I registered but it wouldn’t accept it without a comment. So I typed ‘comment’ and now it says “Your comment is awaiting moderation.”

    Short answer: dunnor *grin*

  12. JoanneL says:

*sigh* Short answer is not dunnor… it’s don’t know.

  13. SonomaLass says:

Okay, I’ll bite—why is Libba Bray’s The Sweet Far Thing nominated again this year?  I loved it, don’t get me wrong, but it was in last year’s tournament—lost to the Melissa Marr book, as I recall.

  14. Michelle says:

Success! Here’s how to register:  From Jane @ DA:  On the tournament pick page you simply enter your ID and your email address for preregistration. When the time comes to fill out the bracket, you can choose your user ID from the dropdown box.

    So….

From main page, click on Tournament, click on Enter Your Picks, follow Jane’s instructions.
