Save the Contemporary: Smooth Talking Stranger

Look! Jane and I try to chew gum and walk at the same time.  Not as easy as the Commander in Chief implies.  We’ve got the DABWAHA going full steam (don’t forget to vote) and in a week we’ll be launching the next selection in our Save the Contemporary campaign.  Lisa Kleypas’ third contemporary, Smooth Talking Stranger, is slated to be released on March 31, 2009. Yes, it is a hardcover and the economic times are tough but if you can borrow a copy, we think that the charming romance between advice columnist Elle Varner, her sister’s infant, and one very hot Jack Travis will be worth the effort.

Or you can try to win one of the twenty copies that St. Martin’s is offering as a giveaway.  Or if you want a copy of your own (and we think you will) you can use the 30% off coupon for the online Borders store. If you live near a Borders, you can have the book delivered to the store for no shipping expense.  Don’t miss Borders new media feature for romances:  TRUE ROMANCE.  Borders has also put online its popular “shopping list” of books divided by topic with release date. I loved seeing these in the store and am excited to see them online.

Stay tuned for more details on the campaign and how you can win 20 books from St. Martin’s backlist catalog.  I know! 20 books.

    I’ll stay tuned.
I just bought Blue-Eyed Devil last week, didn’t realize it was part of a series. Read it, loved it , blogged about it, went out and bought “Sugar Daddy” today. I REALLY want to read Jack’s story!

I pre-ordered several copies of SMOOTH TALKING STRANGER. 1 for me to read. 1 to save. 1 for my mama. And 1 for a friend.  I LOVE this series.  MAD CRAZY LOVE!

  4. Ardith says:

I pre-ordered it, too. I love this series.

  5. So excited for this book!  Blue Eyed Devil was my beach book last summer and, months later, still lives near my bed for easy bedtime reading.  I doubt I’ll be able to put the new one off till August this time, though!

I’ve read a couple of Kleypas’s historicals, but nothing contemporary. Very interested in checking them out. But still, even with the idea of series in mind, cannot make any sense of “charming romance between advice columnist Elle Varner, her sister’s infant, and one very hot Jack Travis”. Is this a 3-way with very big age differences? Or am I missing something?

I’m excited to read this.  We so need more excellent contemporary romances—save the contemporary, indeed!  We also need to spread the word about the high quality contemporaries that are out there; I’m devastated at how they are getting stomped in the DA BWAHA.

    Thanks! 🙂

I’ve already pre-ordered this one. Honestly, I like the Kleypas historicals better than her contemporaries but do want to know how things pan out for Jack. Can’t wait for more details!
