Introduction to Beyond Heaving Bosoms: Online!

Book CoverAfter working on my Simon & Schuster Author Portal with the help of everyone on Twitter (thank you!), it seems only one of my responses has been approved. Wow. And I worked so hard, too!

But, while clicking around on the new S&S site, I discovered that, hello, the introduction has been posted for your reading pleasure. So if you’re curious what the book is like, have a read of Chapter Cleavage: An Introduction to Romance and to Smart Bitches.

Unfortunately, the illustrations from the introduction are not included, which is a shame because Mavis is so fabulous I can’t even tell you. But the intro gives you a hint of what’s to come in…holy crap, a month from today.

  10. Reinegeekeh says:

*click*  added to my Amazon wishlist, coincidentally when you search on “Beyond Heaving Bosoms” the entry that appears just below it is “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”

  11. SB Sarah says:

re: ebook – Yes, (I asked a while ago) according to my editor, the book should be available at all of the S&S-connected e-retailers, which include Amazon, Sony, MobiPocket, SimonSays.com, eBooks.com, eReader.com, and Fictionwise.

re: Buy link. Up at the top of the page is a new section to the site all about the book. You can find links to buy from various bookstores at the Buy It Now page.

There’s also additional excerpts, sections from the book proposal that didn’t make it into the book itself, and quotes from different people who have already read the book itself.

Thank you for the kind words and excitement. I had no idea the introduction was up on the S&S site until I went looking for the author portal.

  12. Tae says:

fantastic intro, I love it! It made me laugh out loud and I kept quoting passages to my husband in the next room, especially the part about

This is, in mathematically correct notation, “a shitfuckton of people.

since he’s a mathematician.  He agrees with your statement.

Even if I don’t win a copy, I will be buying it this summer when I come home to the US for a visit.

  13. Rhonda says:

I’ve just recently found your site, about two months ago, and have visited every day since. I even got my mom visiting. It so refreshing to hear intelligent comments about the romance genre. As I read the into, I found my self nodding, laughing, and agreeing with all that was written. So, *raising my drink* Here’s to you ladies! May all people see that the world of romance novels, and readers, are not as stereotypical as it seems. There are a lot of smart bitches out there. I, for one, would be honored to be classified as one.

  14. Lori says:

The intro perfectly sums up the reasons that I spend a ridiculous amount of my online time here at the hot pink palace o’mantitty.  Good job!

  15. Camille says:

Loved it, I’m so excited!! IT was witty, hilarious and absolutely fantastic 🙂 (I hope it’s available in Australian bookstores- or Australia in general! I don’t normally buy online, if ever XD)

  16. Lisa Hendrix says:

Love it, and love that S&S was savvy enough to let you be totally and utterly your SB selves. May it sell a shitfuckton.

  17. NJ says:

Enjoyed the excerpt. I thought it walked a nice line on several touchy points. As a longtime AAR poster, I appreciated that you made an – IMHO accurate – distinction between AAR and SmartBitches (profanity; I’d also say graphic sex) without insulting another vibrant and erudite romance community. I loved the in-jokes for romance fans (the romantic suspense cover comment was coffee-snort moment) but also the willingness to start at the basics.

I wasn’t planning to get a copy of this but now I think I will. I love romance but I’ve actually never been convinced it will hold up to literary analysis (although I thought it was because literary analysis was a tool designed for a different problem; like how you can’t fix a pipe leak with a drill) but I am looking forward to being converted.

  18. krsylu says:

Well. I just had to wipe spit off my laptop screen. I am so glad I have already ordered the book! The intro is fabulous and my husband kept asking me to read the parts that had me giggling. I tried, I really did. But I kept laughing so hard, he could barely understand me…
