Interview with Sarah at Writer Unboxed

David Nygren over at The Urban Elitist asked if I’d be willing to be interviewed, and I said, “Sure, why not?” Then he sent me questions and I had to think about things, like how our site grew to be the community that it is, and what we did to foster that community (huh?), and our decision to run ads, and why we do our own ad management.

I’m very pleased with how the interview turned out, so if you’re interested in my perspective of how and why we did what we do here at the Hot Pink Bitchery HQ, enjoy. It’s long as all hell, though, so be warned. I’m a long-winded wench.

Thanks, David, for the opportunity to look back on the site’s history and talk about the parts I value most. (Note:that’d be you, there, the person reading the site right now. Hi there! You’re awesome.)

  3. SB Sarah says:

Thank you! I seriously took some epic time with those questions, too. They were hard, some of them.

  4. KCfla says:

Sarah, it was time well spent then . That interview rocked!!!  I join in with those just waiting to get my hands on the book.
    Is it April yet???

  5. JoanneL says:

A Great interview—- not long at all—- and I laughed out loud when you said that you and Candy had ‘shot your wad’ writing Beyond Heaving Bosoms!

  6. SonomaLass says:

Yes, “shot our wad” gave me a good laugh, too.

Ever wonder if the fact that SBTB is a labor of love has something to do with the direction it has grown and the kind of community you’ve built?  I think there’s a definite correlation—you and Candy make decisions about the site based on integrity rather than profit, and I guess like attracts like.  Or something.  Anyway, great interview.

  7. This is really a very informative as well as innovative posting. I like the way u have written this post. Thanks for the information.

  8. RStewie says:

Great interview, and I’m excited about getting the book.  JUST the sort of reading I’ll enjoy travelling!

  9. Marta Acosta says:

Sarah, enjoyed the interview and the explanation of the Dominican bitches reference, which always puzzled me.

However, not to divert attention, but this Ronald the personal injury lawyer who posted above, whispered the same dulcet-sweet message to me!  He made me feel so special and now I discover that he’s not the personal injury attorney I thought he was!  I think this sumbitch is two-timing me.
