In regards to the descriptive terms of lovemaking, I’m on the side of oblique if done well. There are terms that are just EW to me so leaving something to the imagination is a good thing. It can be too oblique though and like Jane maybe my dirty mind isn’t as evolved as the author’s or other readers and I’m left wondering WHAT WHAT? WHAT DID HE SAY?
I like the idea of a contest of teaching Jane dirty words LOL !

I went back and forth about whether to include dirty talk in book or not. But let’s face it. What’s sexy for one person is hilarious for another. Or disgusting. Or too tame. Thanks for letting us listen in on your own dirty talk discussion. You could just make that the podcast from now on, imo.
Chiming in to say I also think Victoria struck the right tone with the dirty talk. I mean, I love even dirtier stuff, but (this is totally sexist) I prefer the hero to say it. There’s a fine line between giving a heroine a strong, sexual voice and having her come across as crude. Victoria made great choices on that front. Enough to satisfy this dirty girl, for sure. ; )

Re: dirty talk in Victoria’s contemporary, I thought she handled it just right for those characters. I don’t have a “right” and “wrong” level there as a reader, but I think it needs to fit with the rest of the character construction. It makes sense for some characters to talk dirtier than others!

I have to agree with Rebyj – I don’t mind the oblique references if they’re done well, but I also am like “WHAT?, WHAT DID HE/SHE SAY?” My imagination isn’t good (dirty?) enough perhaps to come up with my own version, so I need more information!!
I did really enjoy Talk Me Down and am looking forward to reading the next in the series. I wouldn’t have even known about this book except for DA and SB, so thanks for that.
