ARC Giveaway: The Winners!

Bitch Book455 comments? WHOA! Thank you to all who stopped by and left a squee or two – and yes, shewhohashope, I do not get what is up with the country of origin for the sheikhs in the sheikh millieu.

Of course, Candy and I both are mystified by the fact that there are all these sheikhs who aren’t, you know, Muslim. WTF?

All sheikhing aside, I’m floored by the enthusiasm. Thank you. Srsly. Wow.

So without further ado, or any ado at all, I present: the random integers:

  1. What?  My SB title didn’t sway the judges?  Oh well, I’ll buy it as soon as it hits the stands.

  14. azteclady says:

Congrats to the winners! I guess I’m left to wait for the actual release date… along with the rest of the unlucky Bitchery, huh? 😉

  15. NOOOOOOOO!

Ah well. This works out better for you anyway, because regardless of any changes you made, I probably wouldn’t have bought the book if I could get the milk for free. Yes, I am that cheap.

Of course, Candy and I both are mystified by the fact that there are all these sheikhs who aren’t, you know, Muslim. WTF?

And the number who are half-white/white and just adopting into a sheikhly family? A few weeks ago, when I was totally not reading one, the heroin thoguht the hero would be trustworthy because he spoke English and had grey eyes. Why not just join the Aryan nation right now, lady?

Plus, this whole sheikh obsession seems to stem from a misrepresentation of what that word means. Basically Islamic scholars and old men aren’t as sexy as foreign princes from manly misogynistic cultures that one can simultaneously revile and be thrilled by as embodied by a strong exotically handsome man who wants to exert his control over you (prefereably in bed). One could write an interesting thesis on the correlation between Islamic/Arabic (the two are synonymous!) cultures being marginalised in ‘western’ (obligatory scare quotes) society for many of the same reasons that is used as fetish fuel for orientalist fantasies.

This goes equally – if not more so – for men of course.

    Um… congratulations on the book!

  16. hip hip… hurray! *waves mightily*

Shut up!!  Oh, I meant, CONGRATULATIONS!  *jealously stalks off while muttering about never winning anything*

  21. Tina C. says:

Damn!  I wasn’t able to stop by until now and I was hoping that the comments were still open so I could toss my hat in the ring.  Oh well—I guess I’ll just have to buy the book instead.  Congratulations to all you lucky winners!

  22. Diane/Anonym2857 says:

Harrumph.  Obviously the random number generator made a mistake!  Only one number in the 300 range at all, and it wasn’t mine.  Perhaps a recount is in order?

    Diane :oP
ducking and running… and happy for the winners anyway

  23. Lucienne says:

Cograts to the winners!!  I will just have to wait until April to read now.  I guess it’s a good thing since school isn’t over until then.

Sarah, will there be a Kindle format?

  26. ArsenalTengu says:

The Byzantine epic Digenis Akritas begins with an Arab Emir kidnapping a Byzantine general’s daughter, then being so stricken by her Orthodox hotness that he converts to Christianity and defects to her side of the border.  They get married and the titular hero (who is actually kind of a dick) is born.

I don’t know if that explains anything, but it goes to show that it’s one of the oldest ones in the book.

Congratulations on your own book, by the way! Those bosoms have got to be damn well heaved.
