Downloading this one based on the tags alone.

  2. JaneyD says:

Not even free and especially with dragons, include me out. It’ll leave more for others.

After the “venom cock” kerfuffle in ‘05, I’m absolutely off mixing dragons with nookie.

Even when it’s funny. The writer didn’t intend it to be funny, but well….

One can be utterly certain that Bianca D’Arc DID do a better job of it than J. Cross, and I hope she makes LOTS of sales, but Cross has utterly ruined me on that theme! Going off to curl up in a fetal position and imaging myself in my Happy Place.

  3. Julianna says:

I followed those links, and I still don’t know what a venom… appendage… is, or whether it’s attached to a human or a dragon.

  4. Tae says:

I wish they’d give away other editions of their free books instead of just the Kindle.  Not everyone has the Kindle, and when I upgrade my Gemstar 1150, I’m going for a Sony.

  5. SonomaLass says:

I’m with danae.  I would love some freeebooks from Mr./Ms. Hain,  but alas, I have not drunk the Kindle-aid.  (And that’s not just because I still have flashbacks to the money I spent on Beta-Max!)

  6. sadieloree says:

My hubby says no Kindle for me. At least not this year. ๐Ÿ™ But at least I work at a bookstore and get a discount on my books!
And being on a dragon kick myself, this sound intersting.  Though I can see how reading anything about a venom cock could be er, off-putting. lol

  7. SonomaLass says:

JaneyD, I had managed to put the whole “venom cock” thing out of my mind.  Thanks for the reminder—NOT.

“You got Gor on my Pern.”  “No, you got Pern on my Gor.”

Naomi Novik’s Temeraire books got me reading about dragons again, but only because the dragon sexx quotient is pretty low, and the dragons NEVER EVEN THINK ABOUT sex with humans.  Or vice-versa.  Which to my mind is totally how it should be.

  8. Bianca D'Arc says:

Just here to reassure you that there is no “dragon sex” in this book. The dragons in this book are just dragons and if they have sex, it’s with each other! Now I’m not saying they don’t influence their knight friends, but there’s nothing involving “venom cocks” – of that I can assure you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Later in the series, I do have a few dragon shapeshifters, but the sex with them is never in shifted form unless their mates are shifted too. Dragons do dragons. Humans do humans. Any other combos are not in these books. Hope that helps!

I’m not Kindle-ized either, but I thought I heard somewhere that if you had a mobi-pocket reading program you could read Kindle books on it. I wonder if that’s true? I’m not real tech-savvy on that aspect of it myself. Heck, I’m still reading ebooks off my laptop.

Thanks for the chuckle and I hope, if you do get a chance to check out the book, that you like it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Barbara says:

Bianca, you can transfer ebooks from different formats to Kindle by using Mobipocket. If it’s a file that is .lit, it has to be ran through ABC Lit first, then Mobi. A bit of a pain, but as a bargain shopper, I get e books where I can.

  10. joykenn says:

Bianca-just finished reading your book on my new (post-Oprah) Kindle.  Really liked it and have just downloaded a couple more.  Looking forward to the stories of the twin sisters.  Yes, you can read Mobipocket books on PDAs (I read books on my Palm TX until I got the Kindle) and on computers.  I think ebooks are taking up a LOT less space than print books on my shelves!  I expect that when the new Sony ebook reader hits the shelves this month that the older versions will show up on eBay for really, really good prices and maybe some Kindle owners will switch over.  Meanwhile,SB Sarah and other smart bitches out there, please let us know when free or heavily discounted ebooks come out.  I’d never bought a Samhain book until Bianca’s but really enjoyed it and might try some different authors—but no venon cocks, please.  I have my kink limits!

  11. Bianca D'Arc says:

Barbara & thetechdiva – See, I knew I heard it somewhere. I need to get more into the whole ebook format thing, but I just usually buy them in HTML or PDF and read off my laptop. If/when I get a dedicated reader, I’ll have to sort it all out, I’m sure. Thanks for the tips!

Joykenn – So glad you liked the book! You’re the first person I’ve heard from who got the freebie.  And you are so right about the old ereaders showing up on ebay as the new models come out. Personally, I think I’m just going to buy one of those teeny tiny laptops like the Asus Eee so I can write as well as read. It’s not that much bigger than a Kindle and it’ll fit in my purse. ๐Ÿ˜‰

As for Samhain books – I’ve been with them from the beginning. Maiden Flight was my first book ever, and it came out in February of 2006 – Samhain opened its doors in January of 2006. I was really lucky to be one of their first few and I have to say, the company puts out some really awesome books. I have yet to find something really creepy in one of their books (like the aforementioned “venim cock” LOL). But they do have some awesome writers and great series in all different genres of romance from sweet to red hot and everything in between. I have three series with them at the moment – the dragons, a futuristic menage series called Resonance Mates, and a paranormal series that mixes weres, vamps and fey warriors. Most all of my books get that “red hot” rating and some are menage, but not all.

Samhain seems open to all kinds of romance and I know I’ve found some teriffic writers there like Loralei James, Maya Banks, Brenda Williamson, Beth Williamson, Annmarie McKenna, Gia Dawn and a slew more. You should check ‘em out! ๐Ÿ™‚
