Jane Austen Invented Baseball

I watched this and proclaimed that verily I hath a boner for Steven Colbert. Of course, he lives in my town so I probably shouldn’t say that out loud. I’ll see him at Starbucks and die of embarrassment.

It tells me the video is no longer available.

(Although someone else should check because it could be just not available in Korea.  It’s happened before).

  2. If you can’t find it on YouTube, google Stephen Colbert and you should be able to retrieve it one way or the other. I watched this last week and nearly died laughing. I love this man.

  3. krsylu says:

Good Heavens! I thought I was gonna pee my pants at the punchline of the Austen bit… :0

  4. Mary Beth Miller says:

What else is included in he topics for the Austen video, or what was the date it aired? I did a search for Austen in his videos and nothing came up.
    Thanks!

  5. krsylu says:

    Try tying “Jane Austen”.

  6. krsylu says:

BTW, the title of the video is “Tip/Wag-Marvel Comics”

  7. Julie Leto says:

As a Catholic, I cried with laughter.  This man is hilarious.  (And yes, Sarah…he’s cute, too.)  The Austen part was great, too!

  8. MB (Leah) says:

I saw that the other night and immediately thought that one of you guys would post it. Either you or DA or Karen.

It’s hilarious. Colbert cracks me up. And he didn’t really make fun of romance. It was spot on, actually.

    Working83—-ugh.

  9. Silver James says:

I doubt Colbert is that familiar with Austen but kudos to whoever on his staff is! That bit was just…coffee-snorting, pant-peeing, consciousness-expanding made full of awesome!

And I’m not even a Colbert fan…lol. Thanks for the link, y’all!

  10. Priceless. Thanks for making my Friday that much lighter.

  11. Gennita Low says:

And the bat…retreating to his estate to pine.

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  Classic.

  12. Ciar Cullen says:

Oh, stop feeding my Colbert crush. Wouldn’t I love to throw him to the ground (seems like it would be kinda easy, right), tear those glasses off him, and…have a nice chat.

  13. tracykitn says:

You know, I never much cared for Northanger Abbey but all of a sudden I want to reread it. It’s in storage, however, until the first of December.

  14. I’m with Ciar. Heh heh heh. Love Colbert and all of the vid was too funny.

  15. Victoria Dahl says:

“Keep your promise…” HAHAHAHA That was great. THANK YOU, Sarah!

  16. Chicklet says:

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah! Such language! The proper term for us to use is lady boner. *sips tea*

  17. Tina M. says:

It’s good to know that their are others who hold a special something for Mr. Colbert.  He just does something to me… 😉

  18. Tina M. says:

BTW, did anyone ever see him on the show, “Strangers With Candy”?  He is HI-larious in that.  Love that show!

  19. Eeyore9990 says:

I love Stephen and I giggled mightily when I saw that, but what just broke my brain into a bazillion pieces is the “he lives in my town so I probably shouldn’t say that out loud. I’ll see him at Starbucks and die of embarrassment.”  And I…. there are not enough words ending in -gasm to express my sentiment about Stephen and Starbucks at the same time.

  20. Mel says:

I agree with Chicklet, “lady boner” is so much better XD

Also, my cackling during the Austen bit jarred my roomie from sleep. But really, I don’t think she should be allowed to stay in bed till noon if I can’t, right? Right.

This little video made my day. And I wish I had the ability to see Stephen in Starbucks. Even the idea that it would be possible gives me a lady boner. Sheesh.

  21. SonomaLass says:

Freakin’ hilarious, all if it.  And I particularly love how he can get humor out of something (Catholicism, Jane Austen, Marvel Comics) without being excessively mean-spirited.

  22. kittyfischer says:

He’s at his best when he’s making fun of literature, I think.

    Oh, Mr. Darcy…. 🙂

  23. Jessa Slade says:

If we can get baseball dads reading Austen, certainly getting Joe the Plumber turned on to some m/m can’t be far behind. I heart Colbert too.

  24. amy lane says:

OMG—okay, the geek in me was doubly appeased—I’ve taught Austin on occasion, but I’ve been teaching the comic-book-hero pantheon of archetypes for years!!!

  25. Michele says:

I >heart< Stephen Colbert. Brainy guys with attitudes can be sooo sexy.

  26. alia says:

y’know, i know which town colbert lives in, because the realtor we’re working with bragged about it.

now if she had said “and smart bitch sarah lives here, too!” i might have whipped out the checkbook…

  27. I don’t always care for Colbert, but he was on top form there. Jesus with a leafblower nearly made me embarrass myself in the seat department, and Jane Austen base ball (as she has it) should be an Olympic sport.

  28. getting Joe the Plumber turned on to some m/m can’t be far behind

Please. You make me feel all dirty now.

stop66: Not nearly enough. As Frankie Howerd might have said, ‘Nay! A thousand times nay!’

  29. ROFL – that was SO funny!!!  I think we all need to move to Sarah’s town and corner him in Starbucks.

    Caffeine and Colbert.

      I am SO there!!!!

  30. natasha b says:

  31. natasha b says:

  32. Catherine says:

If you’re in Canada, the link is The Colbert Report : Tip/Wag : Colbert Report: Tip/Wag – Marvel Comics.

    Thanks for these Friday videos!

  33. Sherry Thomas says:

    …and pine!

    LOL.

OMG, the word verif is USUALLY69.  How does it know so much about my sex life?!
