I rock a massive crush on Dan Savage. If I met him, I’d stutter like a bad rap song from the early 80’s played on a record player bouncing in the back of a pickup truck on a dirt road. Srsly.
So Dan’s latest efforts to fundraise on behalf of those campaigning against anti-gay-marriage amendments to the state constitutions of California and Florida just rock my socks. (Also, as a related note: GO CONNECTICUT GO. You’re cooler than Jersey. I had no idea. BOOYAH!) Savage’s efforts include personal replies to any questions from donors who give more than $25. Plus:
The six biggest Savage Love donors to either www.noonprop8.com or www.sayno2.com will see their letters in print, and everyone who makes a donation of at least $25 to either group—send me your donation confirmation e-mail along with your question—gets a personal reply from yours truly. The cutoff date for eligible letters is October 16. And if my readers in Canada want to play along, too, you’re invited to send proof of a donation to someone, anyone, running against Stephen Harper.

Connecticut is only cool if Referendum Question #1 is defeated. It says, “Should we convene a consitututional convention for the state constitution?” That means, can we get people together to rewrite the ENTIRE constitution? Place that have done that (California, Massachusetts) have had major issues afterwards- educational issues cannot be handled by the legislature, but only by referendum. CT could have gay marriage written OUT of the state constitution if opponents get this referendum passed.
There is no oversight or limits to what can be changed during a constitutional convention, at least in CT. That means that people who are in favor of one change may get more than they bargained for.
Plus, Dan Savage taught me all I needed to know about CBT, GGG, DTMFA, fuzzies, sounding, canned hams, and more. I’ll never look at sex and romance the same way again.
I want to marry Dan Savage and have his babies. He is my hero.
I was with some good friends for a prayer service yesterday and this (gay marriage) was among the prayer requests. Afterward we were talking about how important it is for straights to support it. If it’s just a gay/bi issue it will stay on the fringe.
Can you imagine an election in 2008 in which BOTH major party candidates said “I have no problem with mixed race relationships, but marriage needs to be defined as a man and woman of the same color, creed or religion. Of course, they can have civil unions…”

I already voted No on Prop Hate (8) It was the first bubble I filled in on my mail in ballot.
It makes me want to cry, but we’ve got an anti-gay marriage amendment on the ballot in AZ, too, and it looks like it may well pass. Help us, Obi-Dan!
