Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Very Recent Romance With Duke-lets

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

Bitchery reader Aemelia read this book last summer, and wants to read more from this author – only she can’t remember who it is.

In the novel there was a man who came from a family that consisted of 5 or 6 brothers who all had different fathers. Their mother married royalty, a Duke, I believe, but she had several affairs with other men of royal descent as well a boxer. Five (or more?) male children resulted from these affairs, but they were all raised by the Duke who didn’t treat them very well. The Duke gave them his name to avoid public embarrassment, but the ton knew several of the boys were not his biological children.

This particular story is about the youngest son. He only concerned with having a good time and avoids serious work. The book begins with himself and his party friends riding a coach and the friends questioning why he (the main character) has been so glum, and moody. The main character is becoming bored by all the partying and skirt chasing. He is beginning to wonder if there is anything more to life.

The story of the female character begins with her male relative threatening to rape her now that her father is dead, and she has no one to protect her. Anyway, she runs away, and one night she is discovered sleeping on the front porch of the male main character. They find her the same night they are riding the coach, and mistake her for a prostitute or a loose woman who came to entertain them. In her struggle to get away, she punches one of the gentlemen in the jaw, and knees another in the groin, then runs away. The male main character runs after her because he 1-shes’s beautiful and 2-his curiosity is piqued.

The main character finally corners her, and tries to convince her to come back to his place. At first she refuses, but when she sees her relative’s armed guards coming down the road she worries that they will kill the main character when they reach her. Therefore, she kisses the main character and when the armed guards pass by; they mistaken take the couple for lovers and just continue on with their search.

The female main character returns with him to his house and he beds her. She doesn’t know how she can avoid the situation. The next day the male main character realizes that she was a virgin, and tracks her down (she runs away in the morning before he wakes up) and manages to convince her to tell him the whole story. She does, and he swears that he will protect her with his life. (He feels especially guilty because she was a virgin). He does until she is captured and he has to save her. He sends for his brothers so that they can help him rescue her, but the brothers arrive after he saves her by himself.

    Gaelen Foley’s Knight Miscellaney.

    The books are:

    Knight Miscellany
    1. The Duke (2000)
    2. Lord of Fire (2002)
    3. Lord of Ice (2002)
    4. Lady of Desire (2003)
    5. Devil Takes a Bride (2004)
    6. One Night of Sin (2005)
    7. His Wicked Kiss (2006)

I think this one was One Night of Sin.

  2. Aemelia says:

    Thank you so much!

  3. Keri Ford says:

Yep, this one is ONE NIGHT OF SIN (funny, that’s the first Foley I came across). The Knight family series also continues on into the Spice Triliogy of their cousins

    1.Her Only Desire
    2.Her Secret Fantasy
    3.Her Every Pleasure

And this is supposed to be the last of them. Galen Foley really did an excellent job of wrapping all the characters up in HER EVERY PLEASURE

  4. Keri Ford says:

Oops, so should spell check. That should be Gaelen Foley

  5. Elyssa says:

I just read this book, but the title escapes me right now.  Off to do some searching.

  6. karmelrio says:

This series ROCKED.  That is all.  😉

  7. Suzie says:

Oh yeah, fun series. Lord of Ice and Lord of Fire were the best, in my opinion. Yay twins.

  8. ev says:

I actually knew the answer to this one!!

    yay me!!

  9. joykenn says:

Wow!  that was fast!  You rock, Librarygirl!

  10. Nina Armstrong says:

I so have to read this.

  11. Susie says:

    I KNEW this one!!!

I LOVE this series.  You must read them all.  That’s an order.
    Gotta love the Hawkscliff Harlot.

  12. Chloe says:

I have read the first three and have the 4th waiting.  They are intense so small doses might be good.  I really like this series a lot.  I have liked the Lord of Ice the best so far!

  13. Sandy Beck says:

GREAT books. You will really enjoy the rest of the series!

  14. Peaches says:

This one is great.  It’s the second to last in a series I pretty much enjoyed over all.  The hero of One Night of Sin is also very prominent in Devil Takes a Bride as a competition for the hero of that novel (and I thought he was such a fun character I’d taken to calling Devil Takes a Bride and One Night of Sin “Alec is a Spaz parts 1 &2;”)

I’d totally recommend this and the other books.  As far as I know, Foley is now writing a different series about the Knight’s cousins that are introduced in the last book His Wicked Kiss

  15. lizziebee says:

    OMG I KNOW A HaBO!!!

Of course, everyone’s gotten there before me, but I just wanted to say that this is Gaelen Foley’s Knights Miscellany series!!! I read them about two years ago now 🙂

  16. tracyleann says:

    Thanks, joykenn!

I actually haven’t read them all (somehow missed 4 & 5 and will have to back track some time), but Lord of Fire was my first Foley and so far is my favorite.

  17. mirain says:

I really liked this series, although I think this one was my least favorite.

  18. This was a good series and if you have not read “The Duke”, you are missing out, imo.  One of my fav books.

  19. Lisandy says:
