Oh My Holy Stinkin’ Cuteness

Thanks to Suzanne for the heads up which totally made my day. It’s busy over here in Bitchery HQ, but even if you’re as frantic as I am, still, take five minutes to have a look at the national zoo Ferret Cam. Seems the Black Footed ferret (official ferret of Smart Bitches, I think) had a baby, or kit, on June 20, and if you look, you’ll see sleepy mama and very small baby, who is often awake.

A minute ago, as I type this, baby kit ferret was trying to wake mama up. Oh, buddy, good luck with that. Right now he’s slung across his mama’s middle, probably hunting up something to eat.

  10. Silver James says:

*dies of teh ky00te* OMG! Sooooooo cute! I’ll never get anything done now!

  11. RStewie says:

Momma curled up on baby while I was watching, and it was distressing watching baby try to escape Momma’s grip!  LOL!

    Baby animal cams rock!

  12. Ruth says:

Ferret cam rocks more than words can express. I could watch for hours.

  13. Jennie says:

Can’t decide who is cuter—the baby ferret, or Paul Tolmé.  🙂

  14. Esri Rose says:

Baby is hidden, but Mama is having quite the twitchy dreams! Boy, she looks soft and clean. (Goes back to look) OMG! There he is, poking his little head up!

Augh! The cuteness has blinded me! (must go see baby manatees now)

  15. Joanne says:

I was just looking… I saw no reason at all for that Mama’s foot to come slamming into the camera, LMAO! When she stretches she really shows off her Long Island nails.

  16. SusannaG says:

    I am dead of cuteness.

  17. Katie says:

I have been watching the ferrets for days.  The baby is like a robo-ferret.  He just keeps going and going.  I was pretty sure the first 2 days that Mom was going to just eat the annoying little guy so she could get some rest.

  18. ev says:

Sleeping. I will need to pass this onto a friend who does ferret rescue. She will love it!

While I am watching this I am trying not to cry at the report on the news about all the animals who have to be given up because of foreclosures. I don’t know what I would do without my babies if I had to give them up. I know I couldn’t. It’s heartbreaking to watch.

We came home today from Jersey where we had been since Saturday and my daughter let them out to greet us. Our doxie was just beside herself, belly up, groaning she was so excited and our Lab just bounced all over. How can you not smile at all the love???

  19. ev says:

The cats could not have given a shit though.

  20. ev says:

The cats on the other hand could give a shit.

  21. lijakaca says:

Not quite as exciting since it’s once every 30 seconds, but a few national parks in South Africa have an online camera view that shows waterholes:
    http://www.sanparks.org/webcams/

Sometimes they’re empty (like now), but it’s kind of neat because it’s in the wild, and you’ll get animals like elephants and zebras at it.

  22. Sandra D says:

Junior just got a bath, I think the cuteness is about to kill me.

  23. Tina C. says:

I watched from work earlier and the baby was doing the “I’m so exhausted that I just dropped right here” across Mama’s tummy.  O teh c0000t!!!

It is too funny, by the way, that the comment section for this particular post was blocked on my work computer as PORN!  The comments were blocked on the PW on “new” E-rotic romance, too.  Not the post about the 7 words you can’t say on tv.  Not the post about Your Scandalous Ways.  Just those two.  So, ferrets and multi penii—porn.  (Maybe the anti-smut software thinks that “ferret” is a euphemism?)

  24. Tina C. says:

Ev said:  The cats on the other hand could give a shit.

My cat is just the opposite.  If I I don’t come home at lunch, she’s moaning and mewling at me when I get home at the end of the day and she has to lay on me as soon as I sit down.  And if I actually leave for a few days, she follows me around from room to room after I get home, meowing and whining and carrying on as if I left her for months and I might slip out again when she’s not looking.  My husband says she’s the most neurotic cat he’s ever even heard of.  She may be 19 pounds of neediness, but I love her to pieces.

  25. L.C. McCabe says:

    Awwww.

Earlier this month I was at the San Diego Wild Animal Park and was excited to see that they had an exhibit with black footed ferrets.

Then after hiking up a steep hill, I was disappointed to see an empty pen.

There was a crate and my husband suggested that since they are nocturnal animals that they were snuggled up inside and snoozing.

All I got was a picture of the exhibit with the sign announcing that they supposedly had the creatures, but none of those cute furry animals.

    This ferretcam is cool.

  26. I’m there at 11:30 PM CST. Momma and baby are very active. I cannot stop watching! This is major cool

  27. SusannaG says:

I just checked in again – in time for bathtime!  So, so cute.

  28. KimberlyD says:

Mom’s either bathing him or eating him. If the former, its cute. If the latter…well, poor baby.

  29. SusannaG says:

I *think* she’s bathing him – but I’m an optimist!

  30. Dana says:

Yay! More baby animal cameras! Here’s one of a mother lion and 4 baby cubs. Seriously the cutest thing ever.

  31. ev says:

I closed out of my aol and left the ferret cam up all night. She was active for a bit and has now gone back to sleep. Poor baby is just snugged right down in the centre with his head popping up. Mom is determined to get some sleep. I will have to get up in the middle of the night and see if they are active at all, or if she is just like every other new mom.

  32. ev says:

Well something just woke mom up and she wasn’t happy. I was fearing for Jr. for a moment but he is off still asleep (I can see him breathing). Mom on the other hand is treating us all to a view of her cleaning her privates. She just covered baby up and I think is heading to her litterbox. Poor thing is trying to sleep and she just won’t let him- now it’s time to clean his rear end. Think I will go read some email and give them some privacy!

  33. Cindy Holby says:

Ohhh sooo cute!  What a great way to start the day.  I lurve ferretcam.

  34. Melissa says:

I can’t see it!  I get a bit of the header and that’s all.  I clicked the ‘help’ link and all it gave me was a list of the other animal cams to try.

Phooey.  Now I can’t see the cuteness to get me through the work day.  🙁
