Links and Wonderment for Your Weekend

From Thursday Bram comes this absolutely gobsmacking-badass article about how everything you need to know about strong copywriting comes from … wait for it… romance novels. It’s not about the sex; it’s about the pain, and overcoming it.

Book CoverFrom SonomaLass comes this tale of stacked love: are you a Welsh single in Swansea? Then head to the library’s single’s evening to meet literary like-minded people, and judge them by what they’re browsing. I have to say, I wouldn’t wear a badge to announce I’m single and browsing for books and booty, but then, I’m squidgy about branding myself like that.

And finally: Erotica authors, take note: Ahoy! Thar be plot inspiration, mateys! Dan Filler from the Faculty Lounge blog emailed me about his review of a new nonfiction book by Charla Muller called 365 Nights of Intimacy, a memoir of her experience giving her husband 365 consecutive nights of sex for his 40th birthday.

From the copywriting blog post: Inexperienced fiction writers often confuse a mushy conflict with being “nuanced” or subtle.

    *waves*

    Glad it wasn’t just me.

Sheesh! And I thought getting my husband a WII this year for his b-day was doing pretty good.

Well, he’s turning 33 this month, so at least I have a few years before attempting this one. Hope he’s, um,  up for it when he turns 40. Damn well better be!

veri.word = audience17 – even if they were over 17, we’re not kinky enough to want an audience, thanks.

I’ll buy that book just to see if he lives to 41.

    Great links, btw!

  4. Sarabeth says:

The 365 book will end up as a buy because I will have to see how that all works. I keep wondering though about that time of the month. I’m not squeamish, but . . .

  5. Trish Morey says:

LOL. I wonder what she gave him for his 41st birthday – a year off for good behaviour?

    Talk about a smokin’ gun…

OK this has NOTHING to do with this post. But…was that…yes it was….MY Fair Captain in the adverts! Woot!

  7. Ottrree says:

Chrissy – after I read the book description to my DH and before I read your retort (on saner thought “comeback” probably wasn’t the right term), my DH commented “She was only after his life insurance, right?”

  8. orangehands says:

maybe she’s practicing to play Annita Blake in a movie or something.
