FRIDAY VIDEOS! Music Ahoy!

Note that I didn’t say it was GOOD music. I leave that to you to decide. But since these are songs and videos, consider this not the most work-friendly edition of Friday Videos there ever was. Of course, are there any videos that are work-friendly?

First, from Lara, we have a 19 year old Kate Bush singing “Wuthering Heights” in some sort of mirror bottomed set for her interpretive dance. There’s eyeliner and some really nice manicure action, and cartwheels. I suggest practicing your ‘huh?’ face before you watch.

And from notpomaceous, we have:

“One word: Gino. Or four words: Gino and his hair. I love him in all my glands. He’s a study in contradiction: laconic, yet sweats like a raging bull; motionless, except for his buoyant left arm (which uncannily resembles that of Inspector Kemp in “Young Frankenstein”); white…yet black; straight…yet gay; on stage in front of thousands of people…in his pajamas.”

And if that just gets stuck in your head and you can’t shake it loose, check this out. We may have posted it before, but it’s still worth cleansing your ear passages because it’s uber uber leet.

Man, I remember being in Primary school and Wuthering Heights was number 1 for months and months.  Makes me feel really old knowing it’s now an amusing curio for youngsters.

  2. Worse, I used to love that Wurthering Heights video.  I remembered it as so much cooler.  Somehow, my youthful imaginings had made that interpretive dance much… uh… better.

I love that ROFLMAO video, classic. Have you seen ‘The Internet is for Porn”? It also uses WOW characters, friggen hilarious. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5430343841227974645

  4. That Gino video? If I had all that hair I’d be sweating like a sumo too. *shudder* All my friends know I have issues with sweat. Like I’m watching that video and he’s sweating like mad and I’m looking at all that crazy hair and then i’m thinking of his pubic hair and all that dripping SWEAT. And I’m looking at those white polyester pants and I just KNOW he can’t possibly be wearing underwear under those groovy white, non-breathable pants and…. AHHHHHH! NO! IT’S JUST TOO MUCH.

Now it’s 8:30 in the morning and I need a drink. But thanks!

  5. SB Sarah says:

That song is from “Avenue Q” – outstanding musical.

  6. Esri Rose says:

Gino video: I like the crowd of, what, six girls who rush the stage and are driven off by about a dozen roadies, including one in an argyle sweater.

In exchange, I offer this vid entitled “The First Redneck on the Internet,” performed by Cledus T. Judd, otherwise known as the “Weird Al Yankovic of Country Music.”

the roflmao video made my almost-4 yr old pee his pants, he laughed so hard.

he’s still laughing, and we’ve been watching it for half an hour.

  8. Bonnie says:

Thanks for the great videos, and with Kate Bush & Gino Vanelli, a fond walk down memory lane. I am so digging out my best of cds this weekend and having a 70s/80s/90s retrospective!

KB made me believe that there was a place in the world for an awkward artistic geek/dork like myself. And Gino … well, hello, CANADIAN, first of all. Actually hairy Italian/French Canadian to be specific. He’s still in heavy play rotation on Canadian radio stations up here due to Canadian content laws, so he’s never really been gone or forgotten. Personally, his best work was on Fast Cars in the mid-80s, but I could be biased. I think i wore out 2 or 3 of that album on cassette.

As to the final video, WTFOMGROTFLMFAO!

PS: Word confirmation is hell49. Hmm.

  9. Flo says:

God I love that roflmao video!  I rolled a taurean just to to dance around and go ROFLMAO!

Course I’ve been playing World of Warcraft for nigh on 3 years.  So I’m a bit geeked out to see this here.

    /nerd on

  10. Llamalu says:

Have you heard the Puppini Sisters do Wuthering Heights? Love it!

  11. Michele says:

Ok, I love Kate Bush and think she’s brillant but this…. Pat Benatar did a cover of this song and I think she improved on it (and without the intrepretative dance).

And I’d be sweating under all that hair and a stage light also. But I hate to say it, I love that song.

And that last one? ROFLMAO indeed.

  12. Bonnie says:

OMG, I used to LOVE Gino!  I completely forgot about him until I saw this video.

    Thanks!

  13. Wry Hag says:

Okay, at the risk of shaming myself even further (except, maybe, to Bonnie), I do like me some Sizzlin’ Seventies Sweat now and then, especially when it comes with doo-wop girlz.  And I do love that song.

Ah, my Italian Rapscallion…  Dude could sing, y’know.  Quite an amazing feat, too, considering that the muffling effect of his hair would have made projection impossible for a lesser man.  Oh, sigh me to the moon!

    notpomaceous, outed

  14. quichepup says:

I’m sending ROFLMAO to my son.

    became2—he won’t become 21 for 2 more years

  15. Fiamme says:

These were pure gold. I had to keep looking for more Kate in all her glory and found that the Babushka video was even more “huh face” than Wuthering Heights. Kate slinking all over a double bass in a catsuit worthy of Emma Peel, with a hanky over her head, plus Kate apparently dressed as Raven Swordsmistress of Chaos or some other very Boris Vallejo-esque fantasy femme fatale.

That said … I still love her voice, love both songs, and think just possibly the videos were always over the top and out there.

Finally … ROFLMAO was awesome. As an ex-WoW player I love me some Wow-geekery.

  16. If you really want your brain to explode, try playing each video for 5 seconds each, over and over.  You get quite the, er, musical experience.
